THE NEW CONCEPT OF AN ECONOMICLY EMPOWERED CHURCH

Is the Church Replacing Government or not?

 EWN - United Kingdom

"... EWM is a non-profit making, non-denominational and non-governmental Christian Organisation with a dual mission: The home has 5 training and economic empowerment departments as follows:

1. Computer Training Department: This department will be equipped with computers that will be used to train our students. This training will be offered absolutely free-of-charge to those who live at the home. Upon completion of the studies, we work with the trainee to secure an employer or the trainee may be employed in the ministry, as places are available.

2. Sewing Department: The sewing department will be equipped with sewing machines that will be used to train those who live at the Halfway Home together with the many jobless folks everywhere.

3. Agriculture Development Department: Here, besides teaching on how to operate agriculture activities that will offer self-employment and therefore raise the standards of living, we will also operate a chicken factory for the mass production of eggs and chicken for food. This factory will, for sure, offer employment to most of our students.

4. Small-Scale Business Development and Management Department: This department will offer instructions and practical guidance on how to begin and manage a small-scale business that can generate enough income to be able to conveniently sustain life. Paul was a tentmaker while preaching the gospel! (Acts18:2-4)

5. Carpentry Department: This department will provide our students with practical knowledge and skills in carpentry. Jesus was called a carpenter (Mark 6:3). When the student completes the training, we help him/her to locate an employer or as the means are available, we work with the student to set up a carpentry workshop.

c) Orphanage: We will pick up those abandoned, innocent and orphaned children and give them a home and hope for a future. As the children grow to be of age, we empower each one of then economically in one of the trades at the halfway home. We let them go only when we are sure that they can make a living of their own. As Christians we have a divine obligation towards the orphans (James 1:27). Help us help them.

d) Emergency relief: In times of natural and manmade disasters (floods, hurricanes, landslides, earthquakes, etc) we rush into the scene to provide help and relief to those trapped and in need.

e) Eternal Word Help Fund (EW-HF) Finances from this fund will be used to initiate projects for the graduates from the Centre. We do not give physical cash to them. Rather, we help fund their small-scaled business initiatives so that they can start life with a smile and be thankful to God (2 Corinthians 11:9; Romans 12:13).

f) Funding: EWM is a faith ministry. We pray asking God to lead us to individuals, local and international organisations with whom we will partner for the realisation of our projects to the Glory of God. with the abundance of financial and material resources in the West, we pray and hope that many of our brethren in Europe and America will choose to support us advance God's course in Africa. (1John 3:17; 2 Corinthians 8:13,14)

g) Chaplaincy: A chaplain residence at the Halfway Home will oversee the spiritual lives of those who live there. By the special Grace of God, none who comes to the Halfway Home unsaved will go back unsaved.

h) Present Projects and needs: Presently we are trusting the Lord for funding in the following areas: (separate projects are available).

i) Acquisition of at least 10 computers for the computer department of the Halfway Home.

ii) Acquisition of at least 20 sewing machines for the sewing department of the Halfway Home.

iii) Establishment of a chicken factory that will create employment for several multitudes
thereby breaking the cycle of poverty and lack in many lives and raising living standards to
God's glory.

iv) Establishment of a carpentry workshop at the Halfway Home.
