Dearest Friends and Family We are taking the liberty of sharing in your celebration of the risen Christ. The scriptures of John 17:1-5 tell us: John 17 1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Jesus is described and predicted in Isa. 53:1-9 as the lamb of God, what does a lamb have to do with it? (Atonement) A Ransom price (kopher) is the word used to teach redemption by substitution. The worshiper would place his hands on the head of the sacrifice, and as he confessed his sins they were transferred to the innocent animal. It clearly parallels the New Testament teachings that Christ, an innocent - and infinite - sacrifice, bore the sins of us guilty sinners who identify with Him by faith. So Jesus suffered on the cross to save us. He paid a price, a ransom, not with money but, with His life so that we may live. Let us not look in vain or take for granted the completed work on the Cross in our daily lives. But let us rejoice that he is Risen, let us meditate on the assurance of eternal life that we have in Him. Let us abide in the God of our Salvation. I encourage and challenge all of us to walk a walk worthy of the price Christ paid for us. Let us all look forward to His glorious return, that we might be found the unblemished and prepared bride of Christ. In His Agape Love, His Servant's Vern & Nanci Come visit Balancedword
