Bruce Wilkinson, president and founder of Atlanta-based Walk Thru the Bible Ministries wrote the book, "The Prayer of Jabez. He once said that "If you were to ask me what sentence-other than my prayer for salvation-has revolutionized my life and ministry the most, I would tell you tell you that it was the cry of a gimper named Jabez".

Folks, there is NO SUCH THING as a "pray for salvation". If ole Bruce thinks a "prayer" saved him from the pits of hell, he is STILL headed down that way. WORKS cannot save and PRAYERS cannot save.

Look at what the prayer of Jabez (1 Chr 4:10) is PROMISED to do for you. Bruce Wilkinson claims that saying this prayer REPEATLY will;

It will change your life

You will be extravagantly blessed by God

You will receive abundant blessings from God

You will release God's favor towards you

You will receive God's power,

You will receive God's protection

You will leave the past behind

You will break through to the life you were meant to live

Miracles happen to you and for you on a regular basis

Wilkinson claims that if we'll just pray the prayer of Jabez, word-for-word, every day for a month, then we'll see God's power released in our lives.

God says, not Bruce now, but GOD says; "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking". (Matt 6:7)

MY Lord Jesus Christ says, not Bruce now, but JESUS says; "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen". ( Matt 6:9-13)

Let's go through the Bruce Wilkinson claims of the power of the prayer of Jabez again. You folks take a look-see at what has already happened to ME before I ever HEARD of this prayer.

1-IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

My life is ALREADY changed." Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:" (Col 3:9-10)

Talk about "change". WOW! "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Pet 1:23)

2- YOU WILL BE EXTRAVAGANTLY BLESSED BY GOD.

Look what happened to ME.

"Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you". 1 Cor 4:8

"As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all thing". 2 Cor 6:10

3-YOU WILL RECEIVE ABUNDANT BLESSINGS FROM GOD.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" (Eph 1:3"

ALL spiritual blessings in HEAVENLY places. Am I ABUNDANTLY blessed, or what?

4-YOU WILL RELEASE GOD'S FAVOR TOWARDS YOU.

A woman finds favor with God. "And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God" (Luke 1:30)

A man (David) finds favor with God. "Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob". Acts 7:46

I, too, have found favor with God through the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and NOT through any repetitious prayer. Got that?

5-YOU WILL RECEIVE GOD'S POWER.

"And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power", (Eph 1:19)

Often in the OT, the standard of God's power referred to is the deliverance from Egypt, especially the crossing of the Red Sea. But here is a "much greater" standard of power. That very power of God that raised Christ from the dead is available to us, and we can know it in our practice.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind".(2 Tim 1:7)

The author of the book of "The Prayer of Jabez" is not of a sound mind.

6- YOU WILL RECEIVE GOD'S PROTECTION.

Wanna hear of protection? I will tell you of protection.

"But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil." (II Th 3:3)

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy," (Jude 1:24"

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:28)

Now what better protection can I get that this? Pretty good protection? Huh? What better protection that that of Jesus Christ my Redeemer. WHO is Lord? Jesus Christ. WHO will present me faultless before God? Jesus Christ. No one can pluck me out of WHOSE hand? Christ Jesus.

I HAVE God's protection. It comes from ANOTHER.

Jesus Christ, the SON of God SAVED me, and HE will PROTECT ME.

See, NO ONE can get ANYTHING from God unless we ask in CHRIST'S Name. "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John "(14:14)

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." (John 15:16"

You see, everything nowadays is about Jesus, and not God. We can't get saved without the Name of Jesus. We can't get anything from God without the Name of Jesus. BILLIONS of people believe in God and implore God for favors. The DEVILS believe--- and tremble.. (James 2:19)

WHY Jesus ONLY nowadays? Because God put everything under His feet until He gets a job done for His Father.

"For he (God) hath put all things under his (Jesus) feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest (clear) that he (God) is excepted, (on the exterior-outside of-aside from) which (God) did put all things under him." (1 Cor 15:27)

See, God cannot look upon sin, but His Son DID look upon sin, and lived among sin, and even BECAME SIN on the cross that day.

2 Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

God was OUTSIDE of all this.

1 Cor 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Death is still among us and will be throughout the millennium reign of Christ. Death will not be destroyed until just before eternity sets in.

See, things are to be done IN ORDER.

1- "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Cor 15:22)

2- "But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. (1 Cor 15:23)

3- "For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet." (1 Cor 15:25)

4- "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." (1 Cor 15:26)

3- "Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power." (1 Cor 15:24)

Christ will one day complete the Kingdom like God wants it to be. Christ is working on that now. He has been working on it for a long time now. When Christ puts down the devil and his angels, and all Christ rejecting sinners, and all their earthly rule, power, and influence, you know what He's gonna do? He's gonna give it ALL BACK TO GOD.

4-"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." (1 Cor 15:28)

Then what is Christ gonna do? Well, He's gonna place HIMSELF under God's feet. When Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gets ALL THINGS subject to HIMSELF, He's gonna give it all to God, His Father, and subject HIMSELF to GOD.
