The Alliance of Promise Keepers

We spent some time reviewing a few organizations we used to watch and were in for a surprise. One was AD2000 a very active international movement which merged with the Lausanne Covenant Advocates and carried on by broadening it's message into a more world wide social gospel. The Billy Graham Crusade was the forerunner of AD2000 and the beginning of a true ecumenical movement making the Pope's dream a reality. AD2000 ceased to exist in early 2001 due to mission accomplished.

Promise Keepers has become the Alliance of Promise Keepers. Their sports stadium attracted around 50,000 men which has dwindled to 7,000 give or take a few. The purpose of all the crusades was to bring the denominational walls down internationally on a spiritual and political level.

The crusades were funded not only by thousands of denominations but by large corporations. We believe these movements along with the Pope, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pat Robertson, Walter Armstrong, TBN's entertainment and many other mission oriented organizations made globalism a reality. Without Christians and those who deem themselves to be Christians but are cults we would not be where we are today for better or worse.

The fact that globalism is a "Christian" movement is most likely what is causing the cultural clash. Globalism seeks to integrate Muslims that is why Western governments have opened their doors and allowed them to come in and participate hoping that they will change into peaceful global citizens.

VESTIGES OF THE OLD PROMISE KEEPERS ARE STILL ON THE WEB

"Promise Keepers Group Formed in Catholic Parish," reads one headline from the Fundamental Baptist News Service. Another reads, "Catholic Priest Speaks To Promise Keepers." And, from PsychoHeresy Awareness Letter comes an article headlined, "Promise Keepers, Catholics, And Mormons . . . Together."

This, and other information available from a number of sources, reveals that there is a strong alliance forming between Promise Keepers and the Roman Catholic Church. The heresies of Roman Catholicism are many. Many of their heresies came directly from paganism. A list of their heretical doctrines is too long for this article but the Bible believing reader will know that baby sprinkling has been substituted for the immersion of true believers as Scripture teaches. Prayers for the dead is a pagan practice which was adopted by Rome about 300 A. D. About 75 years later they adopted the worship of angels into their faith, a practice which angels themselves forbid in Scripture. Revelation 22:8-9 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.[ Promise Keepers and Roman Catholics by Wayne Camp - The whole article can be found on: http://www.concentric.net/~Rcamp/pkcath.htm ]

WHY IS THERE A PROBLEM FOR CHRISTIANS MINGLING WITH PROMISE KEEPERS?

In "What About Promise Keepers?" Part 4 of a 5 part series on Revivalism by Michael S. Horton he writes: Issue Two: Worldliness. I know that this sounds odd, since we're given to thinking of worldliness in terms of legalistic taboos. But in Scripture worldliness is being conformed to the pattern of the world's way of thinking--as, for instance, when politics, psychology and marketing are relied upon more than the theology we find in Scripture. In 1994, CURE and Moody Press released a book titled Power Religion. Its contributors included Charles Colson, J. I. Packer, R. C. Sproul, Alister McGrath and a number of others. Its focus was the subversion of the Gospel through the passion for power in various forms: Power politics, Vineyard-style power evangelism, the spiritual power of pop-psychology and the power of numbers in the church growth movement. All of these influences reflect the fact that the church is drowning in a sea of modernity--or, what the Bible calls "worldliness." If that is true of these movements, then Promise Keepers represents what may be the reservoir for all of these tributaries of worldliness in one organization. OTHER DANGERS OF THE PROMISE KEEPERS

Dangers of the Promise Keepers:
Advocacy of an unscriptural religious unity at the expense of sound doctrine and practice.
Acceptance and promotion of unscriptural Charismatic teachings.
Approval and use of psychological approaches and techniques.
Use and promotion of corrupted modern versions of the Bible.
Twisting, misapplying, and misinterpreting key Scriptures.
A program stressing the importance of evangelism while ignoring the need of a pure gospel.
A subtle and very harmful influence upon local churches which have heretofore resisted unscriptural programs and fellowships. [By M. H. Reynolds, Editor, Foundation magazine
