- : GREETINGS to all and the newcomers to this list. We'd like
to introduce ourselves. George and Rita Williams founded this
ministry. We were Mormons (Temple Mormons) for 20 years. We prayed
to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry speaking out against
Scientology. Six months later God led us to the truth: out of
the cult of Mormonism. We did not know at the time we were in
a cult. No-one had witnessed to us in 20 years. [George passed
away to heaven in March 2003 and Nicholas Stivers joined the
ministry as Vice President.]
- The Holy Spirit brought us to information about all the cults
and the present development of the New World Order. We began
bringing our research to you. Because all the research was already
done, we decided to build a library within Cephas Ministry. Our
newsletters are not designed to provoke
anger or resistance to evil which is strictly prohibited in Scripture.
It is to shed light on activities by those who would deceive
the elect by devious methods and systematic plans.

as much published as we can. It is becoming more and more difficult
to deal with all the information we receive since there is a
lack of manpower.

to leave the world system. We are called 'Watchmen on the
Wall' which God always had during the Old / New Testament Times.

The news about churches is unedited unless indicated by Ednotes.
The church as we knew it, is undergoing disintegration. This
began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the
Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican
I.
- The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what
the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all
inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church
which doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word of God has
undergone many changes to fit the present mode. The Bible calls
for a falling away from the truth before Jesus
comes back for His Bride, the true believers called 'Ekklesia.'
Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the Bible is true
from beginning to end.
- The second section is about globalism
where we bring your attention to the social, political and global
trend, so called democratizing what is left. One third of the
world still remains to be taken over. It again proves that we
are moving to closure of the times of the Gentiles prophesied
in the Bible.
- The third section compliments End Time
teachings with what is happening in Israel. We describe and watch
for signs of the coming Tribulation to confirm that we are moving
into that space and time.
- Watchmen on the wall do not solicit memberships. We have
an email group that gets information when we upload new information
and a newsletter whenever it is possible time wise. We love the
Lord with all our hearts and minds and we love all people God
has created but especially those who love our Lord and Savior,

- BAPTIST CONVENTION ENDORSES MILLIONS MORE MOVEMENT

- August 25, 2005 - The 2. 5 Million Member National Progressive
Baptist Convention Endorses Millions More Movement "The
support and endorsement of the National Progressive Baptist Convention
is in keeping with God’s mandate, to help, the "least
of these," said Minister Louis Farrakhan, National
Convener of the Millions More Movement. "The coalition of
leadership being developed among our leaders is a history making
experience that is long over due and that will resonate among
the masses of our people."
- The National Executive Director of the Millions More Movement,
the Reverend Willie F. Wilson, a PNBC pastor from Washington,
DC who is the senior pastor at the Union Temple Baptist Church
said "this endorsement and full participation of the Millions
More Movement is a major step in the right direction for our
people as we begin to mobilize and strategize to empower the
masses of our people to improve their status in the arenas of
health, education, economics, politics, strong moral and spiritual
values. The PNBC ‘s involvement in the movement parallels
its rich legacy as a champion for social justice, which is the
agenda on which it was found."

to run for President of the United States. The New Orleans catastrophe
played into his hands with the black community. Farrakhan claimed

the role of a 'born again Christian' even though he is a Muslim.
He has the capacity of drawing many black Christians into his

2005 - HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A school district went
to court Monday to defend its policy of telling students that
a higher power may have created life -- an alternative to the
evolution theory they are already learning. Eight families are
suing the Dover Area School District where the teen students
are told about "intelligent design'' before their regular
biology lessons on evolution. The families allege the policy
violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The
intelligent design concept holds that Charles Darwin's theory
of natural selection cannot fully explain the origin of life
or the emergence of highly complex life forms. It implies that
life on Earth was the product of an unidentified intelligent
force.

- CHRISTIAN GROUP ALLEGES NEW AGE BELIEFS TAUGHT IN PUBLIC
SCHOOL
The Associated Press, via The Dispatch, USA - Sep. 25, 2005 A
Christian group says a stress-reduction classes for students
at a Raleigh elementary school promoted "New Age" beliefs
and were school-sponsored religious activities that violated
the First Amendment. Called2Action, a local activist organization,
has sent a letter to Wake County Schools Superintendent Bill
McNeal and school board members asking them to make sure this
kind of "spiritual and religious program" doesn't happen
again. "For a Christian parent, you've got some areas of
concern that they're teaching things opposite to your faith,"
said Steve Noble, chairman of Called2Action. "But what's
even beyond that is it's violating the (First Amendment) establishment
clause." The complaint was being reviewed by the school
district's attorneys, said Michael Evans, a Wake schools' spokesman.
Called2Action said it received complaints from a mother whose
children were asked to do breathing exercises, chant and use
their "life forces" last month at Partnership Elementary
School. The classes were conducted by Emily Gunter, founder of
the Rites of Passage Youth Empowerment Foundation in Durham.
Her foundation's Web site says its mission is "to bring
peace to our world through the personal empowerment and spiritual
development of the Youth." The Web site also notes that
Gunter just returned from a spiritual pilgrimage in the Himalayas
of Tibet and Nepal, where she wrote her newest book, "A
Rite of Passage to Spiritual Enlightenment: Living with Compassion."

- WHY WE COULDN'T ENROLL OUR DAUGHTER IN A CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
- Dear Sister Rita, Yesterday we enrolled our daughter in the
ultra-conservative, non ecumenical Clearwater Christian College.
Our first child to begin college, this is a dream my husband
and I had for all our brood since the four children were born.
We took a college tour and found ourselves rendered speechless
when one of the students in front of the staff mentioned the
Greeks , a sorority organization and the groups plan to dress
up for Halloween .
Still we scheduled Meghans classes and purchased her text books.
Late night we reviewed the contents of the texts. Note the only
history text required in our bible- based separatist christian
college is also a best seller..: A History of the American People

- www.sltrib.com - Newspaper stories didn't allow for members
in transit, LDS cleric says. An LDS general authority agrees
that the share of Utahns who are Mormon is shrinking, but insists
that about 70 percent of residents are still members of the state's
predominant religion. Merrill J. Bateman, a member of First Quorum
of the Seventy, appeared Wednesday on KUER's RadioWest program
to respond to The Salt Lake Tribune series "Mormons in Utah:
The Shrinking Majority" published in July. It was the first
public comment from a high-level church leader on the membership
issues raised by the series.He said The Tribune "inappropriately
used" county-by-county membership data The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints provides the state government each
year. State demographers only use the LDS numbers to project
overall population growth. The Tribune used the numbers to show
the LDS share of Utah residents has declined from 70.4 percent
in 1989 to 62.4 percent in 2004, and if the trend continued
Mormons would be a minority group in Utah by 2030.

WASHINGTON -- Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac's (FRE) securities
are so widely held across the globe that even His Holiness
Pope Benedict XVI has some stashed in the Vatican vaults. Agency
paper, in fact, appears to be a favored debt investment of the
Pontiff. In mid-2004, Vatican City had $84 million in debt issued
by Fannie (FNM), Freddie (FRE) or the Federal Home Loan Banks,
$61 million issued by other U.S. corporations and just $30 million
issued by Uncle Sam, according to a new report on foreign ownership
of U.S. securities written by the Treasury, the Federal Reserve
Board of Governors and New York Federal Reserve Bank. The Catholic
church, however, reduced its agency holdings from $95 million
in June 2003 by 11.6% - just after Freddie Mac ousted its top
three executives in an accounting scandal. The Vatican simultaneously
upped its holdings in U.S. Treasury debt by 50% from $20 million
in June of 2003. The annual report on foreign investors, which
cites year-old data, shows the Vatican had a total of $438 million
invested in the U.S. in mid-2003, which included $236 million
in the stock market and another $27 million in other equity investments.

- Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. government released a list
of charitable groups collecting contributions to help Hurricane
Katrina victims that is dominated by religious organizations
and excludes many secular and international relief groups. The
Federal Emergency Management Agency list was posted on the agency's
Web site and published in major newspapers yesterday. After the
American Red Cross, which was named first, the next organization
was Operation Blessing, a group based in Virginia Beach, Virginia
and founded by televangelist and Christian Coalition founder
Pat Robertson. ``How in the heck did that happen?'' said Richard
Walden, president of Operation USA, a Los Angeles-based secular
group that has been conducting disaster relief work since 1979
and was not on FEMA's list. ``That gives Pat Robertson millions
of extra dollars.'' Donations for hurricane relief efforts have
topped $93 million so far, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
President George W. Bush, in remarks on the hurricane over the
past two days, has encouraged contributions to the Red Cross,
the nation's oldest relief agency. He also has promoted organizations
affiliated with churches and religious groups.

- CHAPTER 13: DISASTER CONTROL AND UFOS

that UFOs are Aliens from other planets. We believe they are
demonic manifestations. The Bible teaches that we could meet
angels unawares which means that angels can be seen in bodily
form. That means that fallen angels can also appear in bodily
form. We agree that these concepts are brought before the public
via "Starwars" and many other films to condition people's
minds that there is life on other planets and that we are vulnerable.
We agree that schemes on humanity may include a fake rapture.

Guide to Disaster Control dealing with none other than UFOs.
On the surface, it might appear to be the author's life-long
interest in the subject of UFOs, but something very much more
important is going on here. This manual is a national guide used
by many local fire officials in disaster planning, and it is
also approved by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Act). With
all of the denial by official military channels of the reality
of UFOs, it surprises us to see that a manual with so much information
would even broach the subject of UFOs in such an "official"
way. Although this chapter is not an "official" proclamation
of UFOs, it serves to show how seriously this subject may be
taken by some in official positions of the government, including
FEMA. Although the 1942 aerial attack by UFOs is glossed over
by many UFO researchers, it appears to have created quite an
impression on the author of this manual.
- As many of you will recall, the Air Force took a considerable
amount of heat from the UFO research community following the
closure of Project Blue Book, with a training manual that was
used at the Air Force Academy, one chapter dealing with UFOs

protests, the Air Force ordered the manaul revised to remove
this chapter. This chapter is much like the material below. We

- ARE TAROT CARDS SAFE?

- Email: Dear K. "I came in touch with Tarot Cards in
my early twenties in Hermetic (occult) literature. My mother
went to fortune tellers (card readers) because their predictions
materialized. I had no clue that there was a problem with such
activities. She never was converted even although she had two
daughters witnessing to her.
I discovered later that there is a major problem with Tarot cards.
The Tarot card reader subjects themselves to becoming a medium
if they want to become good at predicting events. By looking
at the cards (evil symbolism, pyramids, pentagrams, etc.. ) they
get in touch with evil spirits who will help them make prophecies
that come to pass. The Tarot card reader tells them what they
see in their minds and and the person who receiving the reading
believes what they hear and makes it come to pass. It is related
to the power of positive thinking. Jesus taught "..As ye
believe, so be it." One of the reasons God is against it,
the diviner (medium) runs that person's life, in other words
the devil runs that person's life. It sets God aside. Another
reason is necromancy. Contacting spirits is forbidden in the
Bible.

Salt Lake City signed an executive order Wednesday granting domestic
partner benefits to city workers, a decision that is likely to

will sign up for the option, adding about $113,000 a year to
its costs.

Grace, who was head of the Knights of Malta in the United States
and a key figure in the CIA's Operation Paperclip to remove classified
information from dossiers on Nazi war criminals.

in rock music and video games.

can distinguish between "real cases" of satanic possession
and illnesses such as schizophrenia. The recruitment drive comes

LDS Church founder Joseph Smith was arrested while living in
upstate New York have resurfaced after a three-decade absence.
The documents dating back to the late 1820s were recently handed
over to the Chenango County Historical Society by the son of
a former county historian. The current county historian, Dale
Storms, said the records showed Smith's arrests for ''glass looking,''
a 19th-century term for treasure hunting. One document is a bill
for $2.68 for a judge's fees in Smith's case. In 1830, Smith
founded what became known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, 10 years after he disclosed a vision of God and Jesus
while praying in the woods near his home in Palmyra in western
New York. Smith was killed in 1844 by an anti-Mormon mob in Illinois.

has called a meeting of top Wall Street firms to discuss practices
in the booming, if opaque, credit derivatives market. Credit
derivatives, which are linked to the probability of a company
paying its debts, represent one of Wall Street's fastest-growing
businesses, with $8.4 trillion of these contracts outstanding
at the end of last year, up from $919 billion just three years
earlier, according to the International Swaps and Derivatives
Association, a trade group. The meeting, which will be held on
Sept. 15, is being called three months after global stock and
bond markets were rattled by fears that some of the largest banks
were caught wrong-footed on some credit derivatives bets. The
worries, which surfaced in May after a cut in General Motors'
credit rating to junk status led to a sharp drop in GM bonds,
turned out to be overblown, but the tumult drew attention to
the rapid growth of the credit derivatives market and raised
concerns that the risks were not fully understood.A letter went
out earlier this month from Timothy Geithner, the president of
the New York Fed, to executives at 14 dealers inviting them to
discuss "a range of issues in the credit derivatives market,"
said Peter Bakstansky, a spokesman for the New York Fed. The
meeting will focus in particular on issues tied to the processing
of these trades. Bakstansky declined to specify the banks invited
to the meeting, but the largest participants in the market include
J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

- THE RISE OF SHARIAH IS RAISING CONCERNS - SHARIAH ISLAM'S
HARD BRAND LAW
- WASHINGTON, D.C., SEPT. 3, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Concern over
extremist Islamic groups and terrorism has renewed interest in
the role played by Shariah, a form of Islamic law. A recent book,
"Radical Islam's Rules," looks at the influence of
what it termed "the rapid growth of a starkly repressive
version of Islamic shariah law."
- Edited by Paul Marshall, senior fellow at Washington-based
Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom, the book contains
essays from a variety of human rights activists and experts on
the issue of religious freedom.
- In his introduction Marshall explains that extreme Islam
is only one strand of the religion, which began its modern phase
as a reaction to the secularization of Turkey in the early 20th
century. He also observes that most people who push for the spread
of Shariah are not terrorists, though "such law is part
of the terrorist's ideology."
- Shariah is a combination of both civil and religious matter.
It tries to synthesize the Koran, the sayings of Islam's founder
Mohammed, and the life of the prophet and his early followers.
As well as being divided into a number of schools of interpretation,
Shariah also differs from place to place insofar as it has incorporated
local laws and traditions. The extreme form of Shariah, Marshall
points out, seeks to entrench only one version, an extreme literalist
view that has a double foundation: one that is based on Wahhabism,
the form of Islam followed in Saudi Arabia; and the extreme form
of Islamic law introduced by the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran in
1979, following the overthrow of the shah. Prior to 1979 only
Saudi Arabia was governed by Shariah, but in the last couple
of decades it has spread to a number of other countries. In Pakistan,
Shariah has been gradually supplanting the previous legal system.
Sudan introduced a radical form of Shariah in 1983. Then, in
1994, the Taliban in Afghanistan began to institute a form of
Shariah. Nigeria has incorporated Shariah into the legal system
since independence. In recent years some of the country's northern
states have announced that Shariah will be given the leading
role in determining laws. In Asia, meanwhile, some states in
Malaysia have introduced laws based on Shariah. Similar efforts
in Indonesia have been blocked, though at the local level radicals
enforce Shariah in some areas, writes Marshall.

- 60% OF AFGHANISTAN ECONOMY CREATED FROM ILLICIT DRUGS. A
GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT AND THE GLOBAL SCOURGE CONTINUES - STOCKHOLM,
Sweden, SEPT. 3, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Around 200 million people
have used drugs at some point in the last 12 months. This was
one of the findings presented June 29 in the 2005 World Drug
Report, issued by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime.
- The UNODC report, which covers data up to 2003, estimates
that there are 160 million marijuana users. The number of those
using amphetamines and ecstasy, termed as ATS users by the report,
is 26 million and 8 million, respectively. The number of opiate
users is estimated to be around 16 million. Cocaine users number
almost 14 million. Although countries indicating rising levels
of drug consumption continue to outnumber those with falling
levels of drug use, the proportions have shifted in recent years
in a slightly more positive direction. In 2000, 53% of all reporting
countries saw rising levels of drug use. This fell to 44% in
2003. The report noted that the abuse of synthetic drugs everywhere
has declined. The abuse of opium and heroin has stabilized and
started to decline in a number of major consuming nations, for
example in Western Europe. The trend toward cocaine use has lost
its momentum and has started to decline in the foremost consumer
country, the United States. But the consumption of marijuana
is widespread. - LUCRATIVE TRADE - The UNODC report tries to
estimate the monetary value of the illicit drug industry. "The
overall size of the illicit drug industry is known to be huge,"
the report states. But its clandestine nature makes its size
hard to estimate. The value of the global illicit drug market
for 2003 was estimated at $13 billion at the production level,
$94 billion at the wholesale level, and $322 billion at the retail
level. "Drug revenues account for 0.9% of the global gross
domestic product," explained the UNODC executive director,
Antonio Costa, during the report's presentation in Stockholm.
The report calculated that in 2003, the sale of illicit drugs,
measured at wholesale prices, was equivalent to 12% of the value
of the global export of chemicals, and 14% of world agricultural
exports.
- The largest market, according to these estimates, is cannabis
(marijuana) herb, with a retail market size of $113 billion.
This is followed by cocaine, $71 billion; the opiates, $65 billion;
and cannabis resin, $29 billion. The ATS markets amount to $44
billion. UNODC is reasonably confident about the estimates on
opiates, cocaine and ATS, but the degree of certainty is far
lower for cannabis, notably for cannabis herb, as information
for production and consumption of this substance is highly contradictory.
Efforts by authorities to combat the drug trade have had some
success. The 95 countries that reported to the UNODC cited a
fourfold increase in the number of drug seizures between 1985
and 2003.

Digital wants millions of Americans to be implanted with an RFID
chip for medical purposes, and the Frist-Clinton bill (S.
1262) would pave the way. Former Health and Human Services (HHS)
Secretary Tommy Thompson, who served in the Bush administration’s
first term, recently joined the board of directors of Florida-based
Applied Digital. Applied Digital is the owner of VeriChip, the
company that specializes in making implantable radio frequency
identification chips (RFID) for both people and pets. On July
31, London’s The Business reported that Thompson “is
putting the final touches to a plan that could result in US citizens
having [an RFID] chip inserted under their skin.” Scott
Silverman, CEO of Applied Digital, told WebMD Medical News on
July 27 that “some 2,000 people worldwide are using”
his company’s implants. “But,” the WebMD report
noted, “soon he expects that millions of people will get
VeriChip implants every year.” Silverman also commented
to WebMD that when his company “first announced VeriChip,
a network poll asked people if they would put one in their bodies.
Only 9% said yes. After FDA approval [in October 2004], 19% said
yes. When former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson joined our board,
the rate went up to 33%. But our own study shows that if you
ask people whether they would have a VeriChip implant to identify
their medical records in case of emergency, the positive response
goes to 80%.”
- According to The Business report, “the RFID capsules
would be linked to a computerized database being created by the
US Department of Health to store and manage the nation’s
health records.” Thompson said he “intends to publish
the proposal in the next 50 days, by which time he plans to have
had a VeriChip inserted in his arm.” The former HHS secretary
is definitely positioned to use his past employment to help his
new employer.
- Conveniently, on June 16, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist
(R-Tenn.) and Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) introduced S.
1262, with its very benign-sounding title of “Health Technology
to Enhance Quality Act of 2005.” During a press conference
at George Washington University Hospital, Senator Clinton tidily
summed up the nature of S. 1262: “This legislation marries
technology and quality to create a seamless, efficient health
care system for the 21st century.” Senator Frist described
it as “an interoperable national health information technology
system.”

THE ARM PAPALOAPAN -- - The Marines have landed in Biloxi --
the Mexican Marines.- And Dutch Marines as well. For the first
time since the 19th Century, Mexican troops landed Friday on
U.S. soil, sent from the Mexican Navy ship ARM Papaloapan anchored
near the USS Bataan. The Mexican ship's name means, "River
of Butterflies." Marines from Mexico, Holland and the U.S.
are part of an international Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort
building up on ships about 20 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Four Canadian ships are on the way. "Our President called
George Bush and three days later we came here," said Oscar
Martinez Pretelin, a fleet or admiral rank officer aboard the
Papaloapan, a 440-foot-long U.S.-built troop landing ship. Vincente
Fox is the president of Mexico. "We are honored to help
the United States," Pretelin told press and television reporters
Thursday aboard the Mexican ship. About 75 Mexican Marines landed
Thursday on the beach just east of the Beau Rivage casino to
begin cleaning up Biloxi, especially around schools and churches.

- AMERICANS PLAN ROME TRIP OVER BAN ON GAY PRIESTS

2005 - Responding to reports that the Vatican may be close to
releasing a directive to exclude most gay candidates from entering
the priesthood, leaders of Roman Catholic men's religious orders
in the United States are planning to travel to Rome to voice
their objections in person. The trip is one of the steps by leaders
of Catholic religious orders to try to reassure priests and seminarians
who have been rattled by news of a possible Vatican ban on the
ordination of gay men. Word of the trip, which has not been scheduled,
was in an internal letter sent on Monday to leaders of religious
orders from the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, the key
American coordinating body for more than 250 leaders of Catholic
religious orders, like the Franciscans, the Dominicans and the
Jesuits. The letter was provided to The New York Times by a member
of a religious order who said he was pleased by the superiors'
actions. In addition, at least two leaders of Jesuit provinces
have written to their priests and seminarians reassuring them
that their sexual orientation is not an issue as long as they
remain celibate and chaste. "We're not going to push anybody
overboard," said the Rev. John Whitney, head of the Oregon
province of Jesuits, which includes 254 men in five Northwestern
states.

- WIDER U.S. NET SEEKS ALLIES AGAINST IRAN'S NUCLEAR PLAN

Times - WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 - Stymied in its effort to rally
a worldwide coalition to press Iran, the Bush administration
has opened an unusual diplomatic struggle with Russia, China
and India to have Iran's suspected nuclear weapons activities
brought before the United Nations Security Council for possible
sanctions. Earlier this week, both Russia and India rebuffed
the United States and its European allies, saying they opposed
sending the issue to the Council at this time. Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice said Friday, however, that she and President
Bush would try to change their minds at United Nations meetings
next week. "We need leadership on this," Ms. Rice said
at a State Department news conference, citing Russia, China and
India as vital potential partners in telling Iranian leaders
to "live up to their international obligations" to
suspend uranium conversion and enrichment. Iran suspended these
activities last year but resumed them last month, rejecting as
inadequate the West's offer of incentives in return for Iran's
pledge to stop uranium conversion and enrichment permanently.

- SAUDI ARABIA JOINS THE WTO
On September 9, Saudi Arabia completed a bilateral market access
agreement with the United States, which allows the Kingdom to
proceed with a bid for accession to the World Trade Organization
(WTO). The U.S. is the last WTO member to formally conclude agreements
with Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom will now work with WTO members
to finalize multilateral negotiations.
“This agreement is an important step towards Saudi Arabia’s
accession to the WTO and it will enhance its position to continue
modernization and diversification of its economy”, remarked
Minister of Commerce and Industry Hashim Al-Yamani. “During
the last decade Saudi Arabia has reformed its laws and regulations
to increase transparency, reduce barriers to trade, and protect
intellectual property. We look forward to contributing to a greater
extent to the global economy.”
Accession to the WTO will help promote diversity in Saudi Arabia’s
growing economy and open employment opportunities for the Kingdom’s

P. Hughes, seeking common ground with leading women's rights
advocates in Turkey, was confronted instead on Wednesday with
anguished denunciations of the war in Iraq and what the women
said were American efforts to export democracy by force. It was
the second day in a row that Ms. Hughes found herself at odds
with groups of women on her "public diplomacy" tour,
aimed at improving the American image in the Middle East. On
Tuesday, she told Saudi Arabian women she would support efforts
to raise their status but was taken aback when some of them responded
that Americans misunderstand their embrace of traditions. She
met Wednesday with about 20 Turkish feminist leaders in Ankara,
the capital. She introduced herself, as she has done on this
trip, as "a working mom" and said she was there to
emphasize the many things Turkey and the United States had in
common. The women welcomed her but had a different emphasis.
"You are very angry with Turkey, I know," said Hidayet
Tuskal, a director of the Capital City Women's Platform, referring
to what she characterized as United States reaction to opposition
in Turkey to the Iraq war, which she said was a feminist issue
because women and children were dying daily. "I'm feeling
myself wounded," Ms. Tuskal added. "I'm feeling myself
insulted here." Fatma Nevin Vargun, identifying herself
as a Kurdish rights advocate, said she was "ashamed"
of the war and added that the United States bore responsibility.
Referring to the arrest of a war protester at the White House
on Monday, she added, "This was a pity for us as well."
With her brow furrowed, Ms. Hughes replied: "I can appreciate
your concern about war. No one likes war." She went on to
say that "my friend President Bush" did all he could
to avoid a war in Iraq, but then asserted about Iraq: "It
is impossible to say that the rights of women were better under
Saddam Hussein than they are today." She said that women
had been tortured, raped and killed under the leadership ousted
by American troops.

- It appears that though the Europeans and Americans are alarmed
by the potential threat of a nuclear Iran, they are much more
alarmed by the clear and present threat of an overwhelmingly
nuclear-armed Russia.
- On the other hand, Israel is virtually certain to be Tehran's
prime target. While the European Union or United States could
possibly absorb a nuclear attack by Iran's fledgling nuclear
arsenal and survive, Israel could not.
- Neither could the status quo be maintained by the old Mutually
Assured Destruction Doctrine that kept the Soviets and Americans
at bay for 40 years. The Soviets were pragmatic enough to know
that a nuclear attack on the United States would mean national
annihilation. They could be trusted not to commit national suicide.
But Iran marches to an entirely different drum. Iran is motivated
and driven by an Islamic-based ideology that glorifies martyrdom
for Allah. This is why it is the wellspring of suicide bombers.
This is one of the main reasons that Israel developed a last-resort
nuclear-defense policy known as the "Samson Option."
You will recall that when all was lost, Samson took down all
his enemies with him in his death. The "Samson Option"
is an operational plan that can be implemented on very short

- BRIGHTEST GALACTIC FLASH EVER DETECTED HITS EARTH

- A huge explosion halfway across the galaxy packed so much
power it briefly altered Earth's
 upper
atmosphere in December, astronomers said Friday. No known eruption
beyond our solar system has ever appeared as bright upon arrival.
But you could not have seen it, unless you can top the X-ray
vision of Superman: In gamma rays, the event equaled the brightness
of the full Moon's reflected visible light. The blast originated
about 50,000 light-years away and was detected Dec. 27. A light-year
is the distance light travels in a year, about 6 trillion miles
(10 trillion kilometers). The commotion was caused by a special
variety of neutron star known as a magnetar. These fast-spinning,
compact stellar corpses -- no larger than a big city -- create
intense magnetic fields that trigger explosions. The blast was
100 times more powerful than any other similar eruption witnessed,
said David Palmer of Los Alamos National Laboratory, one of several
researchers around the world who monitored the event with various
telescopes.
- TSUNAMI CONNECTION?
Several readers wondered if the magnetar blast could be related
to the December tsunami. Scientists have made no such connection.
The blast affected Earth's ionosphere, which is routinely affected
to a greater extent by changes in solar activity. "Had this
happened within 10 light-years of us, it would have severely
damaged our atmosphere and possibly have triggered a mass extinction,"
said Bryan Gaensler of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
(CfA). There are no magnetars close enough to worry about, however,
Gaensler and two other astronomers told SPACE.com. But the strength
of the tempest has them marveling over the dying star's capabilities
while also wondering if major species die-offs in the past might
have been triggered by stellar explosions.

to tighten the bankruptcy laws and crack down on consumers who
took on debt irresponsibly, no one had the victims of Hurricane
Katrina in mind.

Corpus Christi, Texas. THE OLD LAW AND THE NEW (September. 27,
2005) Bridget Cloud, a refugee from two hurricanes, enjoying
a motel pool with a granddaughter in Laredo, Texas. But four
weeks after New Orleans flooded and tens of thousands of other
residents of the Gulf Coast also lost their homes and livelihoods,
a stricter new personal bankruptcy law scheduled to take effect
on Oct. 17 is likely to deliver another blow to those dislocated
by the storm. The law was intended to keep individuals from taking
on debts they had no intention of paying off. But many once-solvent
Katrina victims are likely to be caught up in the net intended
to catch deadbeats. Right after Hurricane Katrina struck, several
lawmakers - mostly Democrats but including some Senate Republicans
- suggested that storm victims along the Gulf Coast should get
relief from the new law's stricter provisions, which are intended
to screen filers by income and make those with higher incomes
repay their debts over several years. Under the old law, which
remains in effect until mid-October, many more filers can have
their debts canceled quickly in federal bankruptcy courts...
In the meantime, many victims of Hurricane Katrina - and the
much smaller group ruined by Hurricane Rita - will face a kind
of Catch-22. Those who try to beat the Oct. 17 deadline in hopes
of filing under the less-onerous current law may find it impossible
to do so, because residence rules generally require that individuals
seek protection against creditors in their hometowns. (Assuming
people in New Orleans can find their lawyers and records, they
can file for bankruptcy protection in their bankruptcy court,
which has reopened and is sharing space with another court in
Baton Rouge.) Moreover, most people displaced by the storm will
probably not know for months if they even need to file for bankruptcy.
By that time, the tougher new law will be in force.

August 30, 2005 - Ivan and Katrina - These are both very Russian
sounding names. It has been established that the former Soviet
Union (fSU) developed and boasted of weather modification technology
during the 1960's and 70's with deployment against the United
States coming in 1976 with the audible arrival of the woodpecker
grid. These weather operations continue to this day. I have posted
this page FAR sooner than I would like to have. I would like
to have had the post mortem of Katrina from the National Hurricane
Center to work from as well as a little time/distance from the
events of this week so that perspective can be maintained. I

This nation has not faced an economic crisis like the one that
Katrina will spark in the days and months ahead. But that is
one of the reasons Katrina was guided along the path that we
all watched. This path has resulted in maximum damage to the

and in the years to follow. Oh New Orleans! I fully expect one
more 'event' this year to impact the United States. My gut feeling
is that it will be an earthquake >7.7 in magnitude with insured
losses to exceed $25 billion. That number should have been less
but presently real estate is far overvalued.

line of research originally developed by the brilliant scientist,

- "... Across the Internet many are now saying that a
conspiracy is at play. They are saying New Orleans was allowed
to go under and that aide to those left behind in Louisiana and
Mississippi was intentionally slow in arriving. The talk is that
the region will now be remade into some sort of corporate playground…
sans the hundreds of thousands of poor who use to call the area
home.
- As this thing progresses it is getting harder and harder
to dispute these voices. Yet, even if they are wrong… it
is crystal clear that America has revealed itself for the beast
it truly is. Those who have been evacuated to the Astrodome and
other emergency camps have been treated as criminals. Many may
be prohibited from leaving. A Florida homeowners association
has blocked some from even entering… and most have been
left in a state more akin to that of the Cuban and Haitian refugees
who flooded the US in the 80’s and 90’s than that of
American citizens.
- Now comes word that the military is preparing to forcibly
remove those who have refused to evacuate. Most live in areas
around New Orleans that did not flood or in areas on the Mississippi
Coast that could be rebuilt soon. Yet a government, which abandoned
them during their hour of need is now telling them they have
no right to stay.
- Recent news has also revealed that the President has used
the occasion of this tragedy to suspend prevailing wage laws
on government contracts pertaining to the rebuilding of the affected
areas. What this means is that companies like Halliburton and
Bechtel will not be required to pay employees involved in reconstructing
the gulf coast wages, which are in line with those paid in the
area for similar work. Combine this with Bush’s earlier
lifting of pollution standards on US refineries (in order to
boost oil production missing since the hurricane) and one can
already see this crisis has served as yet another vehicle for
the rich to profit off the misery of others....
- The world is a chaotic place this very moment. In addition
to the great catastrophe Hurricane Katrina has visited upon the
US Gulf Coast there are other terrible events taking place throughout
the world. From events in the US to those in Iraq and Afghanistan…
I hope that all our seriously watching and acting upon the signs
of the times.
- Yet today, this journal is going to focus primarily on the
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Though there are many things
to be commented upon throughout the world, the prophetic significance
of what is presently occurring within the United States takes
precedence on the pages of this journal… on this day. What
has occurred in the past week is most definitely a “world-changing
event.” Just as 9-11 and the War in Iraq are significant
for their part in shaping the destiny of the US and the world…
so too is this present catastrophe.
- Throughout the world political leaders and the citizenry
have found themselves stunned at all that has occurred in the
US during the aftermath of the hurricane. The thin veneer, which
separates man’s effort at civilization from anarchy and
chaos, has been fully swept away by the floodwaters of this storm.
On the outside looking in, many people throughout the world are
shocked and appalled that the mightiest nation ever to “trod
the earth” has been exposed in this way. People are stunned
at just how ill-prepared the US government has been to rescue
its own citizens and a few are even beginning to wonder in some
sort of “cosmic way” whether the ravages of Katrina
are payback for what the US has done in Iraq...
- Though I don’t believe in the power of the “cosmos”
as having any sort of part in meting out judgment upon the world…
I cannot escape the irony attached to all that is happening in
the aftermath of the hurricane. I also cannot help but wonder…
as others have… whether we are seeing the “chickens
come home to roost”… so to speak.
- The US can mount up and go half way around the world to battle
“evil-doers” in Afghanistan and Iraq. The leadership
of the country can appropriate hundreds of billions of dollars
for smart bombs, stealth bombers, depleted uranium munitions,
and cruise missiles. They can marshal hundreds of thousands of
troops, equipment, humanitarian supplies, and medical supplies
and ship them halfway across the globe into hostile territories
on incredibly short notice. Yet, as noted on Thursday by Martha
Madden, former secretary of the Louisiana Department of Environmental
Quality:
- "but they can't drop some food on Canal Street in New
Orleans, Louisiana, right now? It's just mind-boggling."
- It is mind-boggling… and as Norman Solomon notes in
his most recent commentary, “The problem is not incompetence.
It's inhumanity, cruelty and greed.”
- Inhumanity, cruelty, and greed are most definitely the driving
forces behind the Elites who rule the US, and control its riches,
leaders, and churches. Though a more appropriate wording would
be “greed and the inhumanity and cruelty, which it begets.”
Nonetheless… the point to be made is that those who rule
the US and the world have no real compassion or concern for the
poor in South Louisiana and Mississippi.... "

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 - Topping the federal government's list
of costs related to Hurricane Katrina is the $568 million in
contracts for debris removal landed by a Florida company with
ties to Mississippi's Republican governor. Near the bottom is
an $89.95 bill for a pair of brown steel-toe shoes bought by
an Environmental Protection Agency worker in Baton Rouge, La..
The first detailed tally of commitments from federal agencies
since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast four weeks ago shows
that more than 15 contracts exceed $100 million, including 5
of $500 million or more. Most of those were for clearing away
the trees, homes and cars strewn across the region; purchasing
trailers and mobile homes; or providing trucks, ships, buses
and planes. More than 80 percent of the $1.5 billion in
contracts signed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency
alone were awarded without bidding or with limited competition,
government records show, provoking concerns among auditors and
government officials about the potential for favoritism or abuse.
Already, questions have been raised about the political connections
of two major contractors - the Shaw Group and Kellogg, Brown
& Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton - that have been represented
by the lobbyist Joe M. Allbaugh, President Bush's former campaign
manager and a former leader of FEMA. "When you do something
like this, you do increase the vulnerability for fraud, plain
waste, abuse and mismanagement," said Richard L. Skinner,
the inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security,
who said 60 members of his staff were examining Hurricane Katrina
contracts. "We are very apprehensive about what we are seeing."
Congress appropriated $62.3 billion in emergency financing
after Hurricane Katrina struck. So far, a total of $15.8 billion
has been allocated from a FEMA-managed disaster relief fund,
of which $11.6 billion has been committed through contracts,
direct aid to individuals or work performed by government agencies.

- US BRACED FOR THE POWER OF NIGHTMARES
BBC2 - By John Plunkett - 09/02/2005 - Acclaimed BBC2 documentary
series The Power of Nightmares is heading for a big screen release
in the US. Adam Curtis's award-winning documentary examined the
history behind the September 11 terrorist attacks and argued
that the al-Qaida threat had been exaggerated by Tony Blair
and George Bush for political ends. The three-part series
has never been seen in the US after it was rejected by American
broadcasters, but is being lined up for a cinema release by Sony
Pictures Classics. "They want to show it as a feature film
in the US," said Curtis, who is still in negotiations with
the American film giant. "It would require me to cut it
down but I am prepared to do that. "I would like to get
it on television, because it is a more powerful and direct medium
than cinema, but there is a real reluctance to show it. Americans
don't know anything about the history of Islamism."
- The Power of Nightmares, which aired on BBC2 last
year, won Bafta, Royal Television Society and Broadcasting Press
Guild awards for best documentary series. Curtis wrote, produced,
directed and narrated the series, which was watched by 1.5 million
viewers. It was shown as a feature film at the Cannes film festival
in May this year, and has been distributed worldwide - outside
the US - by Pathé. It would not be the first of Curtis's
documentaries to transfer to the US. His 2002 BBC2 series The
Century of the Self, about the death of ideology and the triumph
of consumer democracy, opened to critical acclaim in New York.
Despite the big screen transfer, he shies away from comparison
with Michael Moore. "Moore is a political agitprop film-maker.
I am not - you'd be hard pushed to tell my politics from watching
it," he told the Guardian earlier this year. "It was
an attempt at historical explanation for September 11. You see,
up to this point nobody had done a proper history of the ideas
and groups that have created our modern world. It's weird that
nobody had done it before me."
