: GREETINGS to all and the newcomers to this list. We'd like to introduce ourselves. George and Rita Williams founded this ministry. We were Mormons (Temple Mormons) for 20 years. We prayed to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry speaking out against Scientology. Six months later God led us to the truth: out of the cult of Mormonism. We did not know at the time we were in a cult. No-one had witnessed to us in 20 years. [George passed away to heaven in March 2003 and Nicholas Stivers joined the ministry as Vice President.]
The Holy Spirit brought us to information about all the cults and the present development of the New World Order. We began bringing our research to you. Because all the research was already done, we decided to build a library within Cephas Ministry. Our newsletters are not designed to provoke anger or resistance to evil which is strictly prohibited in Scripture. It is to shed light on activities by those who would deceive the elect by devious methods and systematic plans.

The focus of these newsletters is to prove why we had to leave the world system. We are called 'Watchmen on the Wall' which God always had during the Old / New Testament Times.
To understand what is happening, one has to know the Bible to compare notes.
The first section is about the church. The news about churches is unedited unless indicated by Ednotes. The church as we knew it, is undergoing disintegration. This began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican I.
The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church which doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word of God has undergone many changes to fit the present mode. The Bible calls for a falling away from the truth before Jesus comes back for His Bride, the true believers called 'Ekklesia.' Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the Bible is true from beginning to end.
The second section is about globalism where we bring your attention to the social, political and global trend, so called democratizing what is left. One third of the world still remains to be taken over. It again proves that we are moving to closure of the times of the Gentiles prophesied in the Bible.
The third section compliments End Time teachings with what is happening in Israel. We describe and watch for signs of the coming Tribulation to confirm that we are moving into that space and time.

POLL: MOST IN U.S. REJECT MORAL ABSOLUTES, BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW
Baptist Press - Aug 10, 2005 - By Michael Foust - NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Barely a third of all Americans believe in absolute standards of right and wrong, and far fewer hold to a biblical worldview, a new poll says.
The poll by The Barna Group, a Christian research organization, shows that only 35 percent of Americans believe in absolute standards of morality -- that is, believe that right and wrong do not change with time or circumstances.
Thirty-two percent of Americans say that morality depends on the situation and the circumstance, while 33 percent say they do not know if morality is absolute or relative. The poll involved interviews with 1,002 adults in July.
Moral relativity is often reflected in such statements as "that might be true for you, but it's not true for me" and "who are you to judge?"
"The fact that only 35 percent of all Americans believe in moral absolutes provides some frightening insight into our culture and the future of this country," Craig Vincent Mitchell, instructor of Christian ethics at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, told Baptist Press.
"This statistic translated means that most people are willing to do whatever they can get away with. ... With so many rejecting the idea of moral absolutes, it is only a matter of time until our society collapses. A moral society is a happier society and a more successful one. An immoral society is one that destroys itself and its citizens."
But despite the outward rejection of moral absolutes, people still believe in absolutes "when it involves them or what belongs to them," Mitchell said.
"It is also interesting to note that most people who reject moral absolutes believe that Hitler was evil," he said. "No one believes that Kenneth Lay did the right thing for his employees or investors when he was the CEO of Enron. In other words, what people say or profess is often one thing, but what they really believe is another."
Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans consider themselves to be Christians. But despite that, only five percent of Americans hold to a biblical worldview, the Barna poll showed.
Barna defines a biblical worldview as believing that: moral absolutes exist; the source of truth is the Bible; the Bible is "accurate in all of the principles it teaches"; salvation is by grace alone; Jesus lived a sinless life; believers have a duty to witness; Satan is real and not just a symbol; God is the "all-knowing, all-powerful maker of the universe who still rules that creation today."
"Our studies consistently show that churches base their sense of success on indicators such as attendance, congregant satisfaction, dollars raised and built-out square footage," Christian researcher George Barna said in an analysis on his website. "None of those factors relates to the kind of radical shift in thinking and behavior that Jesus Christ died on the cross to facilitate. As long as we measure success on the basis of popularity and efficiency, we will continue to see a nation filled with people who can recite Bible stories but fail to live according to Bible principles."
Mitchell said that despite what some say, America's rejection of moral absolutes will not make it "more difficult to preach the Gospel." Deep down, all people know that God exists and that they are sinful, he said.
"What all this means is that we need to preach the whole Gospel clearly so that men can respond to the truth," Mitchell said. "We first need to give the bad news, that all men are doomed to an endless eternity in hell because of their sin. Then we need to give the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. Preaching only about the love of God gives no one reason to come to Christ, because they believe that if God is so loving then He will not send anyone to hell. "People may deny the existence of moral absolutes, but deep down, when they are alone, they will admit the truth to themselves. Many is the atheist who denies the existence of God, but still fears Him."

Who Is 'The Secret Organization Of al-Qaeda In Europe'? [Ednote: Dr. Kennedy has been one of the mainsprings moving the church into politics. The symbol we found on his website in Washington D.C. was a cross painted over the White House. The faithbased politicians have maintained because Christian denominations, all inclusive, have voted them into office believing that they were conservatives when they are anything but. I was literally shocked when I entered Dr. Kennedy's church and found the following emblem on the mosaic floor in the foyer. It is the same emblem that the Church of 'Science of the Mind' uses as well as Dr. LaHaye on one of his book covers. It is as Masonic as they come. In Kennedy's case, even if it were representative of the true cross which is alludes to Christ Jesus in Christianity, would you locate it on the floor for everyone to walk on and then preach the Gospel and serve Holy Communion? Needless to say I could not participate in his bread and wine because I was at a loss as to who this bread and wine represented. When he invites people to partake he states to forget about our denomination and take communion. It is confusing to say the least. Looking at other emblems at the church we can't resist believing that there is a mixed message coming from his pulpit.

WHAT THE KORAN REALLY TEACHES
The Koran sanctions the raping of captive women, pillaging, looting, and the taking of ransom as a not so subtle incentive for the fellow Moslems to join in Jihad or "holy war." Mohammed, the founder of Islam, went to war often and kept one-fifth of all of the spoils of war for himself. The Koran allows a man to have up to four wives at any one time. (They deserve the problems they will get from having four wives in the kitchen at the same time!) A Moslem man can divorce a wife by simply saying “I divorce you” three times. Mohammad himself had as many as 25 wives. (No wonder he ran off to war every few weeks!) One of his wives was only six when they married; he was 54. He consummated the marriage when she was nine years old. The great legacy and heritage of Islam includes their “great prophet,” the pedophile and child molester. He also had at least 27 people murdered on his orders. Mohammed allowed temporary marriage "for three nights" or more, so that soldiers in the field could "marry" prostitutes. Talk about your spoils of war.
The Koran allows a Muslim the right to own slaves by purchasing them or as war bounty. Mohammad himself had dozens of slaves. Africa’s Moslem slave traders sold slaves for centuries and there is still active slave traffic in much of Moslem Africa. Almsgiving and mercy is commended in Islam, but only towards other Moslems. In Islam, the definition of what is "right" or "just" is not fixed, but fluctuates with the whim of whoever issues a decree. So anyone who says ,”It is the will of Allah,” can commit horrible crimes in his name and get away with them. We have all heard of the lies promised to the suicide bombers-70 virgins in paradise, (Which includes young boy virgins). Islam divides the world into two houses: The House of Islam (where Islam rules) and the House of War (the West and any non-Moslem nation). These two must remain permanently at war. There can be temporary truces, in order for Islam to gain an advantage, but peace will come only when the entire world has been subjugated to the will of Islam. When Muslims are a minority community, the Koran permits them to adopt a peaceful attitude to deceive their neighbors, until they feel strong enough to dispense with the pretense. The massacres perpetrated by Muslims in India are enormous in both their numbers and cruelty. Muslim persecution of Christians has caused suffering and death for millions over 13 centuries and continues today. The myth of Islam's "tolerance" of religious minorities contradicts its teaching, history, and present reality. In 1993, Saudi Arabia's supreme religious authority declared that the world is flat, and that anyone who disagrees is an infidel to be punished! Like Communism, Islam cannot foster prosperity, and is always reliant on plunder or unearned wealth (oil). America's "ally" Saudi Arabia remains the most intolerant Islamic regime in the world, where the practice of any religion besides Islam is as strictly prohibited, as it was in Mohammed's day. The first imam to deliver a Muslim prayer for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1997 said, “Muslims will eventually elect the president and replace the constitutional government with an Islamic caliphate. ANDY STANLEY'S OFFICE CHURCH-Rev. Andy (son of Charles) Stanley plans to build a $40 million 3,000-seat church in Buckhead (Atlanta), with services to start in 2006. But like the ministry's 83-acre campus in Alpharetta, which looks more like a high school than a worship hall, church leaders wanted a new sanctuary minus the steeple, pipe organ and stained glass. Stanley delivers his messages in khakis and golf shirts. His opening act is a "live-band jamming Christian rock music." The elements (architecture, etc.) are designed to "put people at ease." NEW ECUMENICAL SPIRIT BETWEEN CATHOLICS, EVANGELICALS Pope John Paul II's death brought an influx of praise and admiration for him, and in a big way, advanced the cause of ecumenism-especially from liberal and New Evangelical quarters. A "prognosticator" writing in the 6/27 Christian News says we can expect more ecumenism, more dialogue, more degradation of the liturgy, more papal visits to the temples of other religions. Timothy George, an "evangelical" on the left, says Roman Catholicism is not a cult, but doesn't seem to take seriously the false-gospel teachings and Pope Benedict's stated goals: "unity of all Christians" and to mend fences with the apostate World Council of Churches. SPIRITUAL EUTHANASIA - A PARABLE OF THE PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH - PURPOSE DRIVEN CHRISTIANITY....A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT UNTO MAN, OR WHO'S END IS DESTRUCTION?
"First they came for “resisters” and “pillars” of Brunswick Reformed Church, Brunswick, Ohio - because they opposed Purpose Driven Life and Church, but I didn't speak up because I was not a member of Reformed Church of American (RCA) denomination. Then they came after a lady who was an elder lady in the faith who had been with the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas since 1956 by shouting her down with spiritual euthanasia and aggressive mean-spirited behavior, and the intimidation of seven attorneys, because she opposed them turning their landmark Criswell Center into a Purpose Driven entertainment center. But I did not speak up because I was not a widow. Then they held a trial for two families at Valley Baptist Church in Lakeland, Minnesota, but I didn't speak up because I was not a member of the General Baptist Convention. Then they came after 165 members of Gardendale Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas and ran them out of the church, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Southern Baptist. Then a brother did finally speak up and tried to warn Eugene Christian Fellowship because they had gone Purpose Driven, but they threatened legal action and told him to stop spamming them. But I did not speak up for fear of being accused of spamming or being sued by a church.
Then a news reporter for a large Christian radio network sounded the alarm on His Holy Hill of this clear and present danger. They ran the story, but received more gnashing of teeth from callers then they had ever had, so they censored this story from their Agape Press print media news service. Then still another brother on another Christian radio ministry broadcast testimonies of Christians thrown out of their churches across the country, but the network threatened to remove his show from the air, if another broadcast was ever made that said anything bad about Rick Warren. But I did not speak up because I had friends and family who were either employed by an organization that promoted Purpose Driven Church, or were in Purpose Driven Church, and I did not want to lose those relationships.Then they came after a large group of members at New Hope Church in Bend, Oregon. But I didn't speak up because I wasn't a member of The Evangelical Church denomination or the National Association of Evangelicals. Then they came after a carpenter and his wife at Calvary Community Church in Phoenix, Arizona with the police and a sheriff and escorted him out of the church and off of the grounds for trying to expose the deeds of darkness and the teachings of Rick Warren, telling him that if he returned, he would be arrested. But I didn't speak up because I wasn't a member of the Calvary Chapel denomination. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me, because every church in the nation had become Purpose Driven and part of his Global PEACE Plan." EVANGELIST MORRIS CERULLO INDICTED OVER TAXES
Los Angeles Times, July 13, 2005 - by Tony Perry, Times Staff Writer - SAN DIEGO — A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted evangelist Morris Cerullo on three counts of filing false income tax returns by allegedly failing to report more than $550,000 in income. Cerullo, president of San Diego-based Morris Cerullo World Evangelism, is charged with filing false individual returns for 1998, 1999 and 2000. "All who partake in this country's benefits have a responsibility to pay their taxes," U.S. Atty. Carol Lam said. "There are no self-bestowed exemptions." Cerullo, who is in his 70s, uses television and the Internet to spread his religious message and seek donations. According to his website, he will lead a crusade this week at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee, followed by one at the Anaheim Convention Center next month. At his rallies, Cerullo, who began as a preacher from Charlotte, N.C., has said people can be cured of medical problems through prayer. He bought the Inspiration Network in the 1980s from Jim Bakker when the latter was caught in a financial scandal that sent him to prison. His official biography says he was the fifth child in a Jewish family but converted to Christianity at 14. Part of his ministry has been to persuade Jews to switch religions. He once owned the landmark El Cortez Hotel in downtown San Diego. Cerullo is scheduled to surrender to federal authorities Monday.

The Age, Australia, July 19, 2005 - Barney Zwartz, Religion Editor - www.theage.com.au - It is 97 per cent certain that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead - based on sheer logic and mathematics, not faith - according to Oxford professor Richard Swinburne. "New Testament scholars say the only evidence is witnesses in the four gospels. That's only 5 per cent of the evidence," Professor Swinburne, one of the world's leading philosophers of religion, said last night. "We can't judge the question of the resurrection unless we ask first whether there's reason to suppose there is a God, second if we have reason to suppose he would become incarnate and third, if he did, whether he would live the sort of life Jesus did."
Professor Swinburne, in Melbourne to give several seminars and a public lecture at the Australian Catholic University last night, said the mathematics showed a probability of 97 per cent. This conclusion was reached after a complex series of calculations. In simplified terms, it began with a single proposition: the probability was one in two that God exists. Next, if God exists, the probability was one in two that he became incarnate. Further, there was a one in 10 probability that the gospels would report the life and resurrection of Jesus in the form they do. Finally, the clincher: the probability that we would have all this evidence if it wasn't true was one in 1000.
He argued that any evidence for the existence of God was an argument for the resurrection, and any evidence against the existence of God was an argument against the resurrection. "Does he have reason to become incarnate? Yes, to make atonement, identify with our suffering and to teach us things, " Professor Swinburne said. Even Jesus' life is not enough proof, he said. God's signature was needed, which the resurrection was, showing his approval of Jesus' teaching. CATHOLIC PROPHECY OF THREE DAYS OF DARKNESS
It will be a bitterly cold winter night in the Northern hemisphere. (Presumably, a very cold summer night in Australia or, by contrast, a torrid night.) The wind will howl and roar. OLDEST KNOWN BIBLE TO GO ONLINE
BBC, UK - Aug. 3, 2005 - news.bbc.co.uk - A manuscript containing the oldest known Biblical New Testament in the world is set to enter the digital age and become accessible online. A team of experts from the UK, Europe, Egypt and Russia is currently digitising the parchment known as the Codex Sinaiticus, believed originally to have been one of 50 copies of the scriptures commissioned by Roman Emperor Constantine after he converted to Christianity. The Bible, which is currently in the British Library in London, dates from the 4th Century.
"It is a very distinctive manuscript. No other manuscript looks like this," Scot McKendrick, the head of the Medieval and Earlier Manuscripts Department in the British Library, told BBC World Service's Reporting Religion programme. "On each very large page, about 14-16 inches (34-37cm) it has a Greek text written in four columns. "That's the really distinct feature of it - layers of text - it's one of the fascinating aspects of it and it shows us how the Biblical text developed over a certain period, how it was interpreted in those crucial early years of Christianity."
The digitising project is particularly significant because of the rarity and importance of the manuscript. The original document is so precious that it has only been seen by four scholars in the last 20 years. The Codex Sinaiticus contains the whole of the Christian Bible; specifically, it has the oldest complete copy of the New Testament, as well as the Greek Old Testament, known as the Septuagint, which includes books now regarded as apocrypha. It is named after the place it was written, the monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, Egypt, set beneath the mountain where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments. It remained there until the middle of the 19th Century when a visiting German scholar, Constantin von Tischendorf, took parts of it away to Germany and Russia. To this day, the monastery officially regards it as stolen. In total the codex is now in four portions, the largest of which - 347 of the 400 pages - is that at the British Library. The rest are split between Leipzig University Library, the National Library of Russia in St Petersburg, and the monastery.

It has become an open secret in the meantime, among the European elites, that the whole euro concept had the aim of hindering a special role for a reunified Germany in the economic development of eastern Europe; and of weakening the German economy, of replacing a hard currency with a softer one, and altogether to force the German economy into a structure, in which it would have to achieve an invisible, but real, subsidizing of the less developed, so-called "catch-up" countries. Through the euro structure, Germany was to be "hemmed in." By giving up the D-mark, Germany relinquished the advantages for an industrial power, of a stable currency.

Roberts Jr., the Supreme Court nominee, gave advice to advocates for gay rights a decade ago, helping them win a landmark 1996 ruling protecting gay men and lesbians from state-sanctioned discrimination. .. Forum: Issues Before the Supreme Court: Judge Roberts, at the time an appellate lawyer for the Washington firm of Hogan & Hartson, did not write legal briefs or argue the case, lawyers involved said. But they said he did provide invaluable strategic guidance working pro bono to formulate legal theories and coach them in moot court sessions. Judge Roberts did not disclose his role in the case to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which asked about pro bono work in a questionnaire. News of his participation was first reported Thursday in The Los Angeles Times, and it set off an immediate scramble on both the left and the right, upending perceptions of the nominee in both camps.
The White House immediately sought to reassure Judge Roberts's conservative backers, telephoning prominent leaders, including Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, but it appeared that not all of them had been convinced. The 1996 case, Romer v. Evans, is considered a touchstone in the culture wars, and it produced what the gay rights movement considers its most significant legal victory. By a 6-to-3 vote, the Supreme Court struck down a provision of the Colorado Constitution that nullified existing civil rights protections for gay men and lesbians and also barred the passage of new antidiscrimination laws."It's one more piece of the puzzle as we keep trying to find out who John Roberts is," said Kevin Cathcart, executive director of Lambda Legal, the advocacy group that helped bring the Romer case. Indeed, Judge Roberts's participation seems to stand in contrast to the picture that has emerged from his days as a young lawyer with the Reagan administration, when he advocated a more conservative approach to civil rights and voting rights. Lawyers in the Romer case said Thursday that Judge Roberts had not discussed its substance with them, but seemed to approach it more as an intellectual challenge. Even so, reports of his involvement echoed on conservative talk shows Thursday, generating outrage and disbelief. "There's no question this is going to upset people on the right," Rush Limbaugh told his radio listeners. "There's no question the people on the right are going to say: 'Wait a minute. Wait a minute! AMERICA'S DESCENT INTO THE THIRD WORLD
By Paul Craig Roberts - July 15, 2005 - The June payroll jobs report did not receive much attention due to the July 4 holiday, but the depressing 21st century job performance of the US economy continues unabated. Only 144,000 private sector jobs were created, each one of which was in domestic services. 56,000 jobs were created in professional and business services, about half of which are in administrative and waste services.
38,000 jobs were created in education and health services, almost all of which are in health care and social assistance. 19,000 jobs were created in leisure and hospitality, almost all of which are waitresses and bartenders.
Membership associations and organizations created 10,000 jobs and repair and maintenance created 4,000 jobs.
Financial activities created 16,000 jobs. This most certainly is not the labor market profile of a first world country, much less a superpower. Where are the jobs for this year’s crop of engineering and science graduates?
US manufacturing lost another 24,000 jobs in June. A country that doesn’t manufacture doesn’t need many engineers. And the few engineering jobs available go to foreigners. Readers have sent me employment listings from US software development firms. The listings are discriminatory against American citizens. One ad from a company in New Jersey that is a developer for many companies, including Oracle, specifies that the applicant must have a TN visa. A British citizen named Haroon Rashid Aswat, living in Lusaka, Zambia is wanted for questioning in relation to the 7/7 London bomb attacks. Haroon Rashid Aswat comes from the same town in West Yorkshire, Dewsbury, where three of the alleged bombers lived. "He is suspected of visiting the bombers in the weeks before the attacks." (New Republic, 8 August 2005). "Scotland Yard declined to shed any light on claims Mr Aswat was the possible mastermind of the July 7 attacks."  Vote Rigging Video August 2, 2005 - A programmer claims that he designed and built a "vote rigging" software program at the behest of then Florida Congressman, now U.S. Congressman, Republican Tom Feeney of Florida's 24th Congressional District. Clint Curtis, 46, claims that he built the software for Feeney in 2000 while working at a sofware design and engineering company in Oviedo, Florida (Feeney's home district). Curtis, in his affidavit, says that as technical advisor and programmer at Yang Enterprises, Inc. (YEI) he was present at company meetings where Feeney was present "on at least a dozen occasions". Feeney, who had run in 1994 as Jeb Bush's running-mate in his initial unsuccessful bid for Florida Governor, was serving as both corporate counsel and registered lobbyist for YEI during the period that Curtis worked at the company. Feeney was also concurrently serving as a Florida state congressman while performing those services for YEI. As with Iraq, the president has paved the way for the conditioning of the American public and an all-too-compliant media to accept at face value the merits of a regime change policy regarding Iran, linking the regime of the Mullah's to an "axis of evil" (together with the newly "liberated" Iraq and North Korea), and speaking of the absolute requirement for the spread of "democracy" to the Iranian people. "Liberation" and the spread of "democracy" have become none-too-subtle code words within the neo-conservative cabal that formulates and executes American foreign policy today for militarism and war. By the intensity of the "liberation/democracy" rhetoric alone, Americans should be put on notice that Iran is well-fixed in the cross-hairs as the next target for the illegal policy of regime change being implemented by the Bush administration.
But Americans, and indeed much of the rest of the world, continue to be lulled into a false sense of complacency by the fact that overt conventional military operations have not yet commenced between the United States and Iran.  THE NEW MEDIA MONOPOLY
The New Media Monopoly describes the cartel of five giant media conglomerates who now control the media on which a majority of Americans say they most rely. These five are not just large — though they are all among the 325 largest corporations in the world — they are unique among all huge corporations: they are a major factor in changing the politics of the United States and they condition the social values of children and adults alike. These five huge corporations — Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS) — own most of the newspapers, magazines, books, radio and TV stations, and movie studios of the United States.
These Big Five (with General Electric's NBC a close sixth) do not manufacture automobiles, or clothing, or nuts and bolts. They manufacture politics and social values. The media conglomerates have been a major force in creating conservative and far right politics in the country. They have almost single-handedly as a group, in their radio and television dominance, produced a coarse and vulgar culture that celebrates the most demeaning characteristics in the human psyche — greed, deceit, and cheating as a legitimate way to win (as in the various "reality" shows).
It is not just national economics that is at stake — though their power has led to the government's somnolence of anti-trust action. Nor is it just the neglect of broadcast media giantism by the government agencies that by law are still required to operate "in the public interest." The public interest is to have the country's largest broadcasting system in the world provide diversity in news, opinion, and commentary that serves all Americans, right, left, and independent, as well as access to their local stations as well as true choices in national programs. What is at stake is American democracy itself. A country without all the significant news, points of view, and information its citizens need to be informed voters is risking the loss of democratic rights. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PICKS NEW LEADER AMID TURMOIL
By STEPHANIE STROM - NEW YORK TIMES - Published: August 5, 2005 - Habitat for Humanity International, one of the country's most successful charities, named a new leader yesterday, hoping to preserve its donor base and put behind it the turmoil over the firing in January of its founder, who has started a rival charity. Jonathan T. M. Reckford, who becomes the charity's chief executive, has a résumé that includes stints at Goldman, Sachs & Company, the Walt Disney Company, Best Buy Inc. and most recently as executive pastor at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, Minn. Mr. Reckford said that despite his almost 20 years in the private sector, his faith had always propelled him toward nonprofit work. "When I left Circuit City for Best Buy, I was asked what I thought were the elements of the perfect job," he said in an interview. "It would have just about described Habitat in terms of a mission-oriented organization directly serving the poor with international scope and scale and a Christian focus." Mr. Fuller, who had been the driving spirit of Habitat since its founding in 1976, was fired after an accusation of sexual harassment. His wife, Linda, was also dismissed from her job with the charity... Mr. Wieland said that as Habitat became a larger, more institutionalized organization, Mr. Fuller's sensibility was out of sync with the board's.... Habitat and the Fuller Center will have to share the allegiance of Mr. Carter. "Rosalynn and I will maintain our primary loyalty to Habitat for Humanity," Mr. Carter wrote in an e-mail response to questions, "but will try to be of assistance also to the Fuller Center and hope that in the future the two organizations will be able to work in harmony." Mr. Carter had sought to reach an agreement between Mr. Fuller and the board that would allow Mr. Fuller to retire with his $79,000 salary for life. Mr. Reckford will be paid $210,000 annually. That effort failed.. Mr. Carter was an honorary member of the search committee to replace his old friend, though he said in his e-mail message that he had declined to play an active role.

SAUDI'S LEADER IS DEAD, ENDING 23 -YEAR REIGN

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 1 - " King Fahd bin Abdel Aziz al-Saud, Saudi Arabia's long-ailing monarch who oversaw one of the country's greatest periods of growth while underwriting the spread of fiercely conservative Islam abroad, died Monday morning in the Saudi capital, ending a 23-year reign.

Saudi Arabia's New KingThe death of King Fahd, 82, marked the end of a decade-long transition of power that began when he suffered a debilitating stroke in 1995 and put his half-brother, Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, in control of the country. Shortly after the king was pronounced dead on Monday, Prince Abdullah, 81, became Saudi Arabia's sixth monarch. [Obituary] During King Fahd's reign he and the royal family found a marriage of convenience with Wahhabism, the conservative branch of Islam that in its more radical forms helped fuel the rise of militancy in far-flung reaches of the Muslim world. But after the emergence of Osama bin Laden in the 1980's and Al Qaeda in the 1990's; the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001, in which 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis; and after a later bombing campaign in the kingdom itself, the Saudi rulers grudgingly admitted that their seeming tolerance of the extremism was beginning to threaten their own grip on power.
King Fahd died after a two-month battle with pneumonia. Immediately after he was pronounced dead, members of the royal family are said to have had a secret meeting to select the new king and heir... "
