- BILLY GRAHAM INVITES THE ALPHA COURSE
Billy Graham has invited Alpha leader Nicky Gumbel to speak at
a major conference he is organizing in Amsterdam, Netherlands,
this July. Mr Gumbel has been asked to speak at a workshop on
the Alpha course at the conference, to be attended by 10,000
evangelists from around the world. Mr Graham wrote, "Your
experience and expertise as a leader will be a great asset to
the conference, and participants will gain invaluable knowledge
and insight from the content of the workshop."
The Amsterdam conference is seen as an opportunity for evangelists
across the world to come together. Meanwhile, a group of well-known
evangelists and church including Luis Palau and Paul Cedar, head
of Mission America" have written letters to encourage churches
to run Alpha courses and attend training conferences. Their letters
have been sent to thousands of Christian leaders all over the
country with details of the 25 conferences being held in the
year 2000. Evangelist Luis Palau wrote, "I thank God for
the way Alpha is turning the focus of churches on evangelistic
outreach.
Churches that are running Alpha courses have new enthusiasm for
evangelism and are leading people to Jesus Christ... The Alpha
course is a first rate tool in our day to live out the Christian
mission." Paul Cedar wrote, "I rejoice and give our
Lord thanks for the wonderful way He is using the Alpha ministry
throughout the United States and around the world. " Inviting
friends, family or work colleagues to an Alpha course is an outstanding
way to share the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in a
non-threatening environment." George Gallup, Jnr., of the
Gallup polling organisation, wrote, "Out of England has
come an exciting course that is moving churches around the world

- ISLAM VERSUS CHRISTIANITY
[Ednote: We watched the Islamic Convention in Washington D.C.
and wrote about it. They say that we take their Scriptures out
of context, that these threats are not really meant for us. As
critical as the problem is between Christians and Islam, it seems
to me they could rewrite the Qur'an and delete those verses to
get peace if they mean what they say. Bible scholars are rewriting
the Bible to make it fit modern times, why not do likewise. End

Proof that the Muslim god and Judeo-Christian God are not the
same and that the Muslim scriptures instruct it's followers to
make war against all those who are not of the Muslim faith (quotes
are from the Muslim holy book the Koran): "...make war on
the leaders of unbelief [all non-Muslims]... Make war on them:
God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will
grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-) " Fight
against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day,
nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger
(Muhammad) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth
(Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)
until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves
subdued" (Surah At-Taubah 9:29)

The Berean Call states the whole question by a Muslim, go to
the website to find the answer: "I would like to make a
few comments and ask some questions. First, the word Allah is
an Arabic word meaning The One God. It cannot have a plural form
nor have gender, unlike the English word for God. Example: gods
and goddesses. Even the Arab-speaking Christians use the word
Allah when referring to God. Second, the pagan Arabs had 360
idols in the Ka'aba and worshiped them in many ways, but they
also believed that Allah created the universe and all that it
contains. They never had a chief god, as you put it, named Allah.
Please send me your proof for such a statement. Also you state
that Islam was invented. Islam is the religion of Adam, Noah,
Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the seal of the prophets Mohammad,
peace and blessing of Allah be on them all. Islam is the only
religion from God, all others are manmade.
Jesus was a Muslim who came to the children of Israel to preach
Islam. Third, you are right, Allah has no son. He is too great
to beget a son. He is not a triune. He does not need partners
to sustain the universe. Allah is the only one who can save sinners.
What is your proof he destroys rather than saves sinners? He
has compassion for all of His creation on earth. That is why
He sustains and provides, even the nonbelievers. Allah has ninety-nine
names or attributes, the first two being Most Gracious, Most
Merciful. Please explain this paragraph: "The God of the
Bible is love, an impossibility for Allah...." Please give
me chapter and verse from the Qur'an for your statement about
"Let us make man in our image" as being paraphrased
from the Bible. Allah is not a false god for he is the One who
gives you your sustenance. Please send proof and explanations
of what I requested. If I do not hear from you I will assume
you have no proof and are spreading lies about Islam, and I know
lying is forbidden in Christianity as well as Islam. The answer

- A NEW CATECHISM?
Rome is to publish a long-awaited Social Catechism that will
give moral guidance on a large number of issues. These include
material on Catholic social teaching, human persons, the family,
the social order, role of the state, democracy, work and salaries,
unemployment, poverty, charity, the environment, the beauty of
creation, the international community, immigration and foreign
debt.
In that little lot you will see hints at how Rome is going to
change views: immigration by illegal ‘refugees’ (how
many does the pope have living in the Vatican State??), poverty
(often caused or exacerbated by Rome in poor countries), and
the international community (with its one-world order and one-religion
aspirations)...
Christian Aid, overstepping its supposedly Christian mandate,
is trying hard to get the EU to stop its trade agreements with
Israel. The reason is that 'The most basic right is the right
to life.' Though it recognizes that Palestinian suicide-bombers
are also to blame, it is calling on the EU to punish Israel and

- THE QUEEN'S BLINDNESS
As Christians we are bound to obey the monarch. unless he or
she disobeys God. So, what of the UK Queen, who unveiled a statue
to a late adversary of the true Gospel, Cardinal Hume? Bishop
Ambrose Griffiths said "It’s the first time ever, certainly
since the Reformation that the Queen has unveiled a statue to
a Catholic prelate. This would have been inconceivable until
recent years. Thus our Queen has swept aside hundreds of years
of Biblical truth in this land. The Queen is indeed blind to
truth, as are her family and spiritual advisers. They have made
sure that the Reformation has been replaced by Catholic lies
and have given to Rome its greatest desired prize, the ‘Dowry

- POPE AS GOD
By using the title ‘Vicar of Christ’ the popes claim
to be God on earth. The present pope recently sent out a strongly-worded
instruction to all Catholic leaders to urgently bring back the
full confessional (the ‘Sacrament of Reconciliation’).
General absolutions are okay for some things he said, but 'Catholics
must make an individual and integral confession of all their
mortal sins to a priest to gain reconciliation with God.' This
blasphemy is so blatant! Scripture says that we do not need priests
or to confess to them. We have direct access to God through Christ
alone, and gain reconciliation through salvation in Christ, not
through continually confessing our sins to a priest who prevents
direct access to God. The 15 page letter (Misericordia Dei ‘mercy
of God’) was sent via senior cardinals to a press conference,
motu proprio (‘on the pope’s own initiative’).

- He says that only when a person is prepared inwardly can
he have the ‘right’ of reconciliation with God, via
the Church (of Rome) This right can only be dispensed by a priest.
. ...for the priest to know the penitent’s spirit, with
a view to granting or withholding absolution, the faithful must
confess each and every mortal sin and show they are truly sorry.
Individual confession and absolution are the sole means by which
the faithful 'are reconciled to God and the Church.' In his letter
the pope is trying to combat a general or communal ‘anonymous’
absolution pronounced over a congregation as a whole, in an effort
to bring back Catholics who feel too ashamed of their sins to
confess them personally to a priest. Cardinal Ratzinger told
the media that Christ Himself instituted the confessional!! Rome
provides for communal or general absolution in certain cases,
such as on a battle-field, in a disaster, etc. But to use it
in normal circumstances, Rome says, is to break Church rules.
Needless to say, these Romanist rules have nothing to do with
God or with the true Church. These rules show us why so many
Catholics are afraid of Rome’s powers, for she claims she
can give or withhold absolution for sins and the reception of

- IS IT RIGHT?
The Catholic churches in Iraq have been given official freedom
by Saddam Hussein, though other non-Muslim religions have been
hard-pressed by his dictatorship. This has been achieved by their
public support for Saddam’s regime. But is it right to lend
church credence to a regime that is so obviously evil? Though
we are talking about Catholicism, which is notorious for assimilating
any old belief system so long as the RCC flourishes, I must say
that I wonder what Protestants would do in a similar position.

- BEYOND THE WALL TZEMACH NEWS SERVICE
June 15, 2002 - In another report, during a pastors' conference
Monday evening, Reverend Jerry Vines, former president of the
denomination and pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville,
Florida., called Muhammad, Islam's founder, "a demon-possessed
pedophile" and told conventioneers that many of America's
problems could be blamed on religious pluralism. Southern Baptists
are the nation's largest Protestant denomination with 16 million
members. Instead of censuring Vines, the denomination's leadership
said it supported his characterization of Muhammad and Islam.
"It's an accurate statement," said Reverend Jack Graham,
the denomination's new president and senior pastor of Prestonwood
Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. "It's history. Muhammad's
last wife was 9 years old. The denomination's outgoing president,
Reverend James Merritt, said he also supported Vines. Many conventioneers
wore green ribbons, the color of Islam, which were to introduce
Southern Baptists to a new outreach project to convert Muslims
to Christianity called "Beyond the Wall."

- WHO MADE THE CATHEDRAL POSSIBLE?
On September 11, the processions, one rich in Roman Catholic
theology and tradition, the other an expression of solidarity
in the public square, represent two distinctly different missions
the cathedral hopes to claim for itself as the city's new spiritual
showcase. It should become, in the vision of Cardinal Mahony,
the Roman Catholic archbishop of Los Angeles, the fulcrum where
the secular and sacred are joined for the glory of God and the
good of the city. "The cathedral is not only the center
of the life and prayer of the local church," Mahony declares,
"but also a symbol evocative of the deepest aspirations
and hopes of the whole polis, the whole people of Los Angeles,
the earthly city yearning for consummation, the completion yet
to come in the new Jerusalem.".........

- Clearly, powerful people and corporations contributed the
bulk of the millions raised to build the church. Among the biggest
contributors have been Sir Daniel Donahue, head of the Dan Murphy
Foundation,which contributed the first $25 million, while the
Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Foundation and Rupert Murdoch's family
foundation each gave $10 million. Other contributors include
Betsy Bloomingdale, Roy and Patty Disney, former Mayor Richard
Riordan, former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley, Bob and Dolores
Hope, the late Lew Wasserman, chairman of Universal Studios,
and the Times-Mirror Foundation, which gave $500,000. By contrast,
$1.5 million has been raised so far from more than 5,200 individual
donors who paid anywhere from $50 to $5,000 to purchase 15,000
paving stones for the cathedral's floor. Many of the contributors
are everyday Catholics who want to be a part of history.

for all people, money can be a sensitive issue. "One of
the key questions will be their relationship to the corporate
community," says the Getty's Rountree, who was one of the
jurors on a panel that recommended José Rafael Moneo as
the cathedral's architect. "There is a lot of desire among
the business community to use and be seen at exciting new places
like the Getty Center and Disney Hall. Given some of the criticism
about the cathedral and the money that's been spent, I would
think [the church] would want to think very carefully about that."

the high spots of organized U.S. Protestantism's super-Protestant
new program for a just and durable peace after World War II:
- Ultimately, "a world government of delegated powers."
- Complete abandonment of US. isolationism.
- Strong immediate limitations on national sovereignty.
- International control of all armies & navies.
- A universal system of money. so planned as to prevent inflation
and deflation."
- Worldwide freedom of immigration.
- Progressive elimination of all tariff quota restrictions
on world trade.
- "Autonomy for all subject and colonial peoples"
(with much better treatment for Negroes in the U.S).
- "No punitive reparations, no humiliating decrees of
war guilt, no arbitrary dismemberment of nations."
- A "democratically controlled" international bank
"to make development capital available in all parts of the
world without the predatory amd imperialistic after-math so characteristic
of large-scale private and governmental loans."
- "Collectivism is coming, whether we like it or not,"
the delegates were told by no less a churchman than England's
Dr. William Paton, co-secretary of the World Council of Churches,
but the conference did not vote as far to the left as its definitely
pinko British counterpart, the now famous Malvern Conference
(Time, Jan.20, 1941). It did, however, back up Labor's demand
for an increasing share in industrial management. It echoed Labor's
shibboleth that the denial of collective bargaining "reduces
labor to a commodity." It urged taxation designed "to
the end that our wealth may be more equitably distributed."
It urged experimentation with government and cooperative ownership.
"Every individual," the conference declared, "has
the right to full time educational opportunities... to economic
security in retirement... to adequate health service (and an)
obligation to some socially necessary service.
- The conference statement on the political bases of a just
and durable peace proclaimed that the first post-war duty of
the church "will be the achievement of a just peace settlement
with due regard to the welfare of all the nations, the vanquished,
the overrun and the victors alike." In contrast to the blockade
of Germany after World War I, it called for immediate provision
of food and other essentials after the war for every country
needing them. 'We must get back," explained Methodist Bishop
Francis J. McConnell, 'to a stable material prosperity not only
to strengthen men's bodies but to strengthen their souls."
Politically, the conference's most important assertion was that
many duties now performed by local and national governments "can
now be effectively carried out only by international authority."
Individual nations, it declared, must give up their armed forces
"except for preservation of domestic order" and allow
the world to be policed by an international army & navy.

power of final judgment in controversies between nations... the
regulation of international trade and population movements among
nations." The ultimate goal: "a duly constituted world
government of delegated powers; an international legislative
body, an international court with adequate jurisdiction, international

police forces and provision for enforcing its worldwide economic

- A MATTER OF PRINCIPLES
Ron Hensel and Don and Joy Veinot have authored a new book, A
Matter of Principles, endorsed by leading Evangelical leaders.
It gives the background and cultural setting for an indepth analysis
of Bill Gothard's teachings. Hensel is completing a Master's
degree at Wheaton; the Veinots are staff researchers and writers
for Midwest Outreach Journal. Gothard is president of the Institute
in Basic Life Principles. They acknowledge his sincerity and
cite his phenomenal popularity. But they charge him with many
"strange" and inconsistent teachings and practices-his
"chain of command" authority structure teaching, his
courtship views, his twisting and misuse of Scripture, taking
things out of context, etc. The "strange" teachings
include: necessity of circumcision for Christians, arranged marriages
and a ritual that engages a daughter to her father until marriage,
an unscriptural "chain of command" authority system,
belief that no one should ever go against parental counsel, no
matter how old the child or wicked the parents-and even when
they tell us to perform actions we believe to be contrary to
God's will (unless it's against the direct command of God), teaches
that loneliness is sin that must be repented of, embraces the
Galatian error on sanctification, says grace as unmerited favor
is a faulty definition (says "grace is merited by a person's
humility.").

- He says grace for salvation is not merited, but cites Noah,
Moses and Gideon as OT examples of those who found grace and
"possessed qualities that merited God's favor." The
authors discuss Gothard's "cover up" of a 1980 sex
scandal involving his brother Steve (IBLP v-p) who "confessed
to deception and fornication with several women." Far from
being a Fundamentalists creed, the book is endorsed by many (and
mostly) New Evangelicals. Including: Two SBC seminary professors,
a Dallas Seminary professor, and Dr. Jay Adams. We have carried

- YWAM LEADER PROMOTES BRIDGES BETWEEN CHRISTIANS, MUSLIMS
AND JEWS
"Reconciliation Walk" is a four-year international
effort to build bridges between Christians and their historical
"enemies"-Muslims and Jews (3/97 Charisma). Lynn Green,
a top Youth With A Mission director, is RW's international coordinator.
But by rejecting Christ as Savior, these two religions reject
the divinely established "bridge." And to say that
"Muslims and Jews deserve an apology from Christians"
today for the brutal "holy war" Crusades against Muslims
and Jews is to confuse. Don't blame Christians today for the
Crusades, promoted and fin-anced by Roman Catholic popes centuries
ago! YWAM and others have no authority to reconcile and build

- POPE'S VISION FOR NEW MILLENNIUM
The 3/97 C.E.C. Journal had an ad from the 3/96 New Covenant
by Franciscan University, Steubenville, OH (where Dr. James Dobson
received an honorary doctorate). It read (emphasis theirs): "THE
HOLY FATHER has a sweep-ing vision for the new millennium: a
Church HEALED of division, BOUND together by love, and CELEBRAT-ING

(AP) The Vatican has excommunicated seven women who claim to
be priests and refuse to repent, saying Monday that the group
had "wounded" the Roman Catholic Church. The women,
from Austria, Germany and the United States, participated in
an ordination ceremony June 29 carried out by Romulo Braschi,
an Argentine who calls himself an archbishop but whom the Vatican
rejects.

set a July 22 deadline for the women to reverse their claims.
However, the women did not "give any indication of amendment
or repentance for the most serious offense they had committed,"

The statement expressed hope, however, that the women would eventually

Harry Patter books rhime with Wicca, which is the organization
or council of witches formed in the United States. According
to their web site, www.wicca.org, the first wiccan church was

appeals court that wicca was a religion equal to any other. Some
wiccan covens worship not only a mother goddess, but also a horned

room during the first week of January 2001. The session was part
of a program designed by Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser,
Sandy Berger, who wanted the transition between the Clinton and
George W. Bush administrations to run as smoothly as possible.

colleagues had been helped by the first Bush Administration in

- PRESIDENTIAL CHANGE DELAYED AL-QUAEDA ATTACK
- August 6 2002 - A plan for the United States to launch attacks
against the al-Qaeda network languished for eight months because
of the change in presidents and was approved only a week before
the September 11 terrorist blows rocked the US, Time magazine
has reported. A White House official disputed parts of the Time
story, published on Sunday. No plan had been handed over and
President George Bush's Administration moved quickly to take
steps against al-Qaeda, the official said. The White House is
clearly irritated by the report, which appeared to suggest that
the Bush Administration might not have done all it could to prevent
the attacks. It has issued a carefully worded denial. "The
Clinton Administration did not present an aggressive new plan
to topple al-Qaeda during the transition," a spokesman,

- PERVERTING THE SAT
- Last month the Trustees of the College Board for the SAT
voted to change the SAT from an aptitude test to an achievement
test ("College Board to Vote on Overhauling SAT I, Adding

The changes are described as "the most significant overhaul
in the 76-year history of the nation's most widely used such
test." With these changes, the SAT will be redefined as

- A liberal Appeals Court in San Francisco ruled that the Pledge
of Allegiance is unconstitutional because it contains the reference
"under God". While atheists and other liberals hailed
the decision, Conservatives of both parties, led by President
Bush, attacked the decision. A poll showed a whopping 87% of
Americans opposed this decision; however, this scenario is tailor-made
to begin the Six Step Attitudinal Change Plan on this issue of

dollars in losses. WorldCom is the latest to fall because of
the "smoke-and-mirrors" type of accounting practices
in which dummy corporations are established, or small companies

the large corporation could fraudulently removed debts from its

Protection Act (CIPA), requiring Web filters at public libraries,
