We'd like to introduce ourselves. George and Rita Williams founded this ministry. We were Mormons (Temple Mormons) for 20 years. We prayed to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry speaking out against Scientology. Six months later God led us to the truth: out of the cult of Mormonism. This began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican I. The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church which doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word of God has undergone many changes to fit the present mode. The Bible calls for a falling away from the truth before Jesus comes back for His Bride, the true believers called 'Ekklesia.' Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the Bible is true from beginning to end. The second section is about globalism where we bring your attention to the social, political and global trend, so called democratizing what is left. One third of the world still remains to be taken over. It again proves that we are moving to closure of the times of the Gentiles prophesied in the Bible. The third section compliments End Time teachings with what is happening in Israel. We describe and watch for signs of the coming Tribulation to confirm that we are moving into that space and time. ROME (Feb. 10. 2006) -- An Italian judge has dismissed an atheist's petition that a small-town priest should stand trial for asserting that Jesus Christ existed, both sides said on Friday. Luigi Cascioli, a 72-year-old retired agronomist, had accused the Rev. Enrico Righi of violating two laws with the assertion, which he called a deceptive fable propagated by the Roman Catholic Church. "The Rev. Righi is very satisfied and moved," Righi's attorney, Severo Bruno, said. "He is an old, small-town parish priest who never would have thought he'd be in the spotlight for something like this." Cascioli, a former schoolmate of Righi's, said he had not expected the case to succeed in overwhelmingly Roman Catholic Italy. "This is not surprising but it doesn't mean it all ends here," he said, adding that he's considering taking the case to the European Court of Human Rights. "This is an important case and it deserves to go ahead," he said. Judge Gaetano Mautone said in his decision that prosecutors should investigate Cascioli for possible slander. The ruling was released Thursday in Viterbo, a town north of Rome where the priest is based. Cascioli filed a criminal complaint against Righi in 2002 after Righi wrote in a parish bulletin that Jesus existed, that he was born to a couple named Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem and that he lived in Nazareth. Righi, 76, said substantial historical evidence proves Jesus' existence. Cascioli claimed that Righi's assertions violated two Italian laws: one barring "abuse of popular belief," or fraudulently deceiving people; and another barring "impersonation" or personal gain from attributing a false name to someone. ----- CATHOLIC GROUP TO ATTEND WORLD-COUNCIL ASSEMBLY VATICAN CITY, FEB. 10, 2006 (Zenit.org).- A Catholic delegation will attend the 9th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches, to be held Feb. 14-23 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. It marks the first time that the World Council will hold its assembly in Latin America. The theme of the event is "God, in Your Grace, Transform the World." More than 700 official delegates from 340 member churches of the World Council will participate. Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, will attend the opening session of the assembly, and convey a message of greeting from Benedict XVI. Bishop Brian Farrell, secretary of the pontifical council, will head an official Catholic delegation of 18 delegated observers. The members of the delegation are drawn from the Roman Curia, bishops' conferences, representatives of superiors general based in Rome, and lay movements. Church News Notes, February 17, 2006 (David Cloud, www.wayoflife.org ) - The Global Pastors Network (GPN) is alleged to be "the greatest concerted effort of evangelism in history." In January it sponsored the Billion Soul Pastors Conference in Orlando, Florida, with the goal of planting five million new churches and converting one billion souls to Christ over the next ten years. The GPN was founded in 2002 by the late Bill Bright and James O. Davis, and so far it has brought together 20,000 pastors from 70 countries. At the first conference, in January 2002, Bill Bright expressed the GPN'S grandiose scheme: "The Global Pastors Network will create a technological presence for the purpose of touching, teaching, and training EVERY PASTOR IN THE WORLD." The endeavor is an ecumenical hodge-podge that includes Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, Nazarenes, Episcopalians, Pentecostals, Charismatics, Word-Faith proponents, Calvary Church, you name it. Keynote participants have included Pat Robertson, Ted Haggard, Jerry Falwell, Reinhold Bonnke, John Maxwell, Billy Joe Daugherty, Jack Hayford, Elmer Townsend, Tony Evans, Larry Burkett, Rick Warren, Stephen Olford, Kay Arthur, Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers [recently passed away], and H.B. London. Kenneth Ulmer, one of the leaders of GPN, claims that fulfilling the goal of reaching one billion souls "will certainly mean some kind of new world order" ("Pastors Hope to Spread Gospel, Hasten End Time," Seattle Times, Feb. 8). That is the postmillennial or "kingdom now" heresy. One of the speakers at January's Billion Soul Pastors Conference was New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, a Roman Catholic who supports "abortion rights and gay rights." Giuliani is a good politician and he knows religion, but he does not know the gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ, and this illustrates the confusion that surrounds this type of ecumenical endeavor. The Bible demands true unity of doctrine and purpose. "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (1 Cor. 1:10). It is very strange thing to create a massive program to reach one billion souls when you have not even agreed on the definition of the gospel, not to speak of the myriad of other doctrines that compose the New Testament faith. ----- CHARISMATIC SOUTHERN BAPTISTS. Friday Church News Notes, February 17, 2006 (David Cloud, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - Central Baptist Church of Hixson, Tennessee, which advertises itself as a "Spirit-filled Southern Baptist church," is hosting its eighth annual Fresh Oil & New Wine Conference in March. The conference features some of the most radical charismatic leaders, including Rod Parsley and Randy Feldschau. Parsley preaches a prosperity, Word-Faith message. He says, "Salvation and healing are two gifts wrapped up in the same package" (Parsley, The Backside of Calvary, 1991). He teaches that the believer can have whatever he desires through faith and confession but that he must "believe for a bicycle" before he can believe God for "a new Lincoln Continental" (Parsley, audio tape, The Subject of Sin). He believes God speaks revelation directly to and through him. He claims that such things as anger and lack of finances and headaches are demons, and that by a 40 day fast you can "kill Beelzebub, the fly father" (Parsely, June 12, 1998). Randy Feldschau is pastor of the Brownsville Assembly of God where a charismatic wildfire "revival" broke out in June 1995. One of its characteristics was "spiritual drunkenness." The pastor at that time, John Kilpatrick, lay on the platform for four hours in a drunken stupor, unable to move. Kilpatrick tells of driving in that condition and running into garbage cans and backing into another automobile. Men in the church had to haul Kilpatrick out of the auditorium in a wheelchair because he was too drunk to walk. On one occasion Kilpatrick fell onto the platform and a woman from the "worship team" fell into his arms and they lay on the platform in a drunken stupor together. In 2003 Kilpatrick resigned the pastorate to enter an "apostolic ministry" and was replaced with a husband-wife team, "pastors" Randy and Suzanne Feldschau. Though the church is much smaller now than when the alleged revival broke out and many have left in confusion at the extreme disharmony and strange fruit that the "revival" produced, Feldschau supports it as a move of God. This is the type of unscriptural nonsense that is promoted by Central Baptist Church and its senior pastor, Ron Phillips. More than 500 Southern Baptist pastors attended the Fresh Oil & New Wine Conference in 2000. ----- [- IN MOVEMENTS THAT BRING CHURCHES OF ALL DENOMINATIONS TO SOCIAL ISSUES, THE TRUE GOSPEL TEACHING IS NEUTRALIZED BECAUSE IT TEACHES THE CONTRARY -] EVANGELICALS CONCERNED ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING. - Church News Notes, February 17, 2006 (David Cloud, www.wayoflife.org) - Eighty-six evangelical leaders are backing an initiative to resist global warming. The "Evangelical Climate Initiative" claims that "millions of people could die in this century because of climate change." Signers include Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church, and Duane Litfin, president of Wheaton College. The initiative calls for legislation requiring reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and will feature political lobbying and television and radio advertising in an effort to change public opinion. Another group of 22 evangelical leaders, including Chuck Colson and James Dobson, signed a statement declaring that "global warming is not a consensus issue," as if a consensus among "evangelicals" is any sort of authority whatsoever. The fact is that the Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice and it gives no support for Christians to be caught up in environmentalism. After His resurrection the Lord Jesus Christ gave His final marching orders, called the Great Commission, and there is not a hint about environmentalism or any other grand social-political scheme. The "global warming" we need to be concerned about is that described in 2 Peter 3:10-11. "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness." --- CORRECTION TO GIBSON MOVIE REPORT It is now understood that recent reports connecting Mel Gibson to producing a movie on Medjugorje are incorrect. The reports first surfaced in the Croatian newspaper Vecernji list on February 15 and 16, and also in the UK Catholic Herald on February 26. Seemingly, wires got twisted when two separate factual stories were linked to make a new story that was not entirely factual. (Yes, two rights can make a wrong!) Story 1: Mel Gibson has expressed that he will visit Medjugorje in the future. Story 2: Film writer Carol Kuk was in Medjugorje preparing a movie script. However, Carol’s film script is not connected with Mel Gibson or any future visit to Medjugorje by the producer. The quote given by Fr Jozo, saying that the movie will be a spiritual story, is correct, but made in reference to Carol Kuk’s script and not in any way connected with Mel Gibson. Carol Kuk has confirmed that she has no personal connection with Mel Gibson, that reports linking her script with Gibson are not true, and that she is working with Fr Jozo’s office to clear up this error. posted by Pilgrim at 11:06 AM Earlier Statement: NEW HOLLYWOOD FILM ON MARIAN APPARITIONS - FATIMA February 25 - Mel Gibson and New Film on Medjugorje: Mel Gibson, the Hollywood actor and film producer, is due to visit Medjugorje in February to begin work on a new film based on the apparitions and messages of Our Lady. Gibson, who directed, The Passion of Christ, is thought to have been influenced by actor Jim Caviezel, a frequent visitor to the Shrine with his wife, Kerri. Commenting on the documentary film, Fr Jozo Zovko said it will be a spiritual story, not a movie about miracles and extraordinary events. The former pastor of the Medjugorje parish also had some input to Mel Gibson's film, The Passion of Christ. Lead actor Jim Caviezel spent 10 days with the Franciscan priest to help prepare for the role as Jesus. At that time the Resurrection scene was not part of the film, but was included at Fr Jozo's suggestion. Film writer Carol Cook recently spent two months in Siroki Brijeg (Fr Jozo's parish) and Medjugorje preparing the script for this latest Mel Gibson production before returning to the United States. She has a personal interest in Medjugorje after travelling there soon after witnessing and losing friends in the 9/11 disaster in 2001. More recently, she attended a retreat given by Fr Jozo last October. This is not the first time Hollywood has turned its spotlight on Medjugorje. Some of Sheen's talks and writings dealt with Communism, which the Bishop, a student of Marxism and a personal friend of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, thought a dire threat to the nation and the world. But at no time did Sheen appear with or praise Senator Joe McCarthy (he had little use for politicians of any stripe) or directly support the Second Red Scare, which swept through the country during the early 1950s. Sheen was also a student of Freud, and was consistently critical of Freudian psychology. Sheen's best-selling book, Peace Of Soul, presented his views on the subject forcefully. At about the same time, the bishop wrote a powerful book on the Virgin Mary, The World's First Love, followed a few years later by an equally impressive Life of Christ. For all of his concerns about worldly issues, Sheen was above all a supernaturalist, who fervently believed that God is love, that miracles happen, and that the Catholic Church best taught the divinely revealed truths about life and death. As he put it in Peace Of Soul, "nothing really matters except the salvation of a soul." Still, Sheen was not a plaster saint. Vanity was a constant problem for him, and he knew it. As both priest and bishop, Sheen lived and dressed well and enjoyed the publicity he received in the media and the applause of adoring crowds. Perhaps more serious was an offense that was not discovered until twenty years after his death: while a young teacher at Catholic University, in order to expedite his academic career, he invented a second doctorate for himself. Sheen could also be difficult at times when his authority was challenged. In the early 1950s, he and Cardinal Spellman, a very proud man, engaged in a bitter feud largely over the dispersal of Society funds. The struggle led to a private audience before Pius XII, who sided with Sheen. In a rage, Spellman terminated Sheen's television series, made him a local outcast, and drove him from the Archdiocese. In 1966, Sheen became the Bishop of Rochester. Bishop Sheen had been an active participant in the Vatican II sessions in Rome and thoroughly endorsed the reforms that followed. He tried to make his diocese the bridge between the old and new Catholicism, enacting sweeping reforms and making headlines in the process. Without administrative skills, Sheen alienated many in Rochester, and in 1969 he resigned and returned to New York. During the last decade of his life, while battling serious heart disease, Sheen continued at a breathtaking pace to travel, speak, and write. During the course of his more than 50 year career in the Church, he wrote 66 books and countless articles. No other Catholic figure of the century could match his literary productivity. Unless he repented and turned wholly to Christ on his deathbed, there is no reason to believe Sheen will be in heaven (David Cloud, Flirting With Rome, Vol. I: Billy Graham, p. 31). [Of course, why not Fulton Sheen in heaven if Elvis is going to be there? -- In an article in the 4/16/92 issue of USA Today, Graham stated that he "expects to spend eternity with God, the great, and the good -- including Elvis Presley."] - Graham once said: "It is my opinion that we ought not to contrast the 'nurture of grace' and the 'grace of conversion' as many have tried to do. I am convinced that there are both, and happy is the man who by the nurture of grace is brought to the grace of conversion." Anyone familiar with Roman Catholicism knows that their "nurture of grace" refers to the grace of the seven sacraments. The most recently available IRS form shows TBN took in more than $184.3 million in 2003. After expenses, that left $71.1 million unspent, on top of at least $311.6 million invested in securities. Paul F. Crouch Sr.’s pay was $408,562 as president and his wife Jan $361,000 as a vice president. Wall Watchers, a Christian nonprofit group that monitors Christian organizations, says TBN is “hoarding too much cash” and is not open about its finances. TBN has many different companies and doesn’t make a “consolidated audit report” available, said Rodney Pitzer, managing director for the group headquartered near Tampa, Fla. “They’re only trying to do the minimum of whatever is legal and that’s it,” he said. “What’s unknown is how many other salaries do the Crouches get?” TBN attorney John Casoria said thorough audits are done twice a year and the salaries in the IRS form are the only ones the Crouches have. Why TNB is also referred to as "The Blasphemy Network" An independent board picked by IRS accountants set the salaries, which came only in their senior years after decades of work for much less, he said. With so much of the church heading into the contemplative / emergent camp, also known as the 'spiritual formation movement' (Ednote: developed by Jesuits what a tragedy it would be to see Awana being sucked into this also. Few things are stable these days ... is Awana the next to cave in? A few days ago it was brought to our attention that Awana's Kevin White sent out a notice to an undisclosed number of Awana youth leaders, letting them know about the upcoming Willow Creek Association's Student Ministries/Next Gen Leadership Conference (February 27th). The notice encouraged leaders to attend and told them where they could register. Today, we contacted Kevin White and asked about the notice. He told us Willow Creek (promoters of Spiritual Formation/contemplative) had contacted them and offered them a room or booth. White said he had sent out the notice, and Awana would be there at the conference. Our concern is that this organization may be seduced into a spirituality that negates the very gospel message that Awana Clubs has tried to promote. Worthwhile to note, on the Awana website, they are featuring a book by George Barna titled, Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions. On the front cover is an endorsement by Willow Creek, Bill Hybels. And the Awana High School program's 24/7 Ministries lists several recommended resources which they say "have similar ministry interests to 24/7." These ministries include Youth Specialties and Group Magazine (both emergent and contemplative) as well as Church Growth Institute, NavPress and Youth for Christ (which promotes the the Labyrinth). If your children are part of an Awana Club, or if you know of a family who is, we encourage you to contact Awana Clubs and share your concerns with them about attending a conference that promotes the New Age and mysticism and also about their connections to these other organizations. Federal agents said the defendants claimed the first few fires were set as “a joke” and the others were started to throw investigators off the track. Gov. Bob Riley said the church arsons did not appear to be “any type of conspiracy against organized religion” or the Baptist faith. With the arrests, he said, “the faith-based community can rest a little easier.” Benjamin Nathan Moseley and Russell Lee Debusk Jr., both 19-year-old students at Birmingham-Southern College, appeared in federal court and were ordered held on church arson charges pending a hearing Friday. Matthew Lee Cloyd, 20-year-old junior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was also arrested. Nine churches torched The fires broke out at five Baptist churches in Bibb County south of Birmingham on Feb. 3 and four Baptist churches in west Alabama on Feb. 7. The federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency had made the arsons its top priority, with scores of federal agents joining state and local officers. “While all three are entitled to have their day in court, we are very hopeful that this is the end to the fear that has been rampant in West Alabama,” said Rep. Artur Davis, D-Ala. An affidavit said Moseley told agents on Wednesday that he, Cloyd and Debusk went to Bibb County in Cloyd’s Toyota sport utility vehicle and set fire to five churches. A witness quoted Cloyd as saying Moseley did it “as a joke and it got out of hand,” according to the affidavit. Moseley also told agents the four church fires in west Alabama were set “as a diversion to throw investigators off,” an attempt that “obviously did not work,” the affidavit said. The first two suspects were arrested Tuesday night, NBC’s Pete Williams reported. WVTM-TV, citing the state fire marshal’s office, said the two are students at Birmingham Southern College and were arrested at a college dorm. Authorities analyzed tire tracks and traced the purchase of the tires to Cloyd. Investigators found tracks at one fire from a BF Goodrich all-terrain tire, according to NBC’s Williams. Provided with a description of a Toyota Forerunner SUV from witnesses at a few of the fires, federal agents checked tire dealers for records of purchases for tires on that kind of vehicle, and came up with Cloyd’s mother. The pastor at one of the destroyed churches said he was told of the arrests by investigators. “We are relieved. We were fearful while they were on the loose because we did not know their agenda,” said Jim Parker, pastor of the Ashby Baptist Church in Brierfield, which was burned to the ground. Ten Baptist churches in rural parts of the state were burned by arsonists last month. Nine of the fires — five on Feb. 3 in Bibb County and four on Feb. 7 in west Alabama — have been linked. Another church fire on Feb. 11 in Lamar County has been ruled arson, but investigators have not determined if it is connected to the others. No racial pattern There was no racial pattern — five of the churches had white congregations and five black. All were Baptist, the dominant faith in the region, and mostly in isolated country settings. A federal source said the apparent motive was that the three students just liked to set and watch fires. Five of the churches were destroyed and four were damaged, including one in which congregants, alerted during the night that churches were afire, arrived just as the apparent arsonists were leaving. After visiting Jerusalem and the West Bank town of Ramallah on Thursday (16 February), Mr Solana said he did not rule out future negotiations with a Hamas government. "Until we know the composition of the government, we will not invite anybody from Hamas," to Europe, Solana said according to Reuters. "We may have to think how to deal with the new government but it has to be decided at that moment," he added. Solana however raised a finger of warning towards Hamas, saying "We cannot accept that they use arms and at the same time hold seats in the parliament. Democracy is not only to participate in the elections." He also repeated EU demands that the Palestinian Authority recognise the state of Israel, writes El Pais. EU foreign ministers earlier said they want to continue aid to the Palestinian Authority until a new government formation - although under strict conditions - fearing that a complete cut-off of funding will create room for Iran and Saudi Arabia to step in. Ministers defended their stance saying a situation of chaos in the region should be avoided in order not to create a "mini-Iran", referring to existing ties between Iran and Hamas. Israel also said on Thursday according to Reuters it would not stand in the way of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians. It had earlier urged donor countries such as the EU, which is the largest donor, to stop providing support to the Palestinian Authority from this weekend, when a new parliament with a Hamas majority is sworn in.
