- :: GREETINGS to all and the newcomers to this list. We'd
like to introduce ourselves. George and Rita Williams, who founded
this ministry, were Mormons (Temple Mormons part of the time)
for 20 years. We prayed to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry
speaking out against Scientology. Six months later God led us
to the truth: out of the cult of Mormonism. We did not know at
the time we were in a cult. No-one had witnessed to us in 20
years.
- The Holy Spirit brought us to information about all the cults
and the present development of the New World Order. We began
bringing our research to you. Because all the research was already
done, we decided to build a library within Cephas Ministry.
- We are fundamental Bible students and have left all
worldly organizations.
- The focus of these newsletters is to prove why we had
to leave the world system. We are called 'Watchmen on the
Wall' which God always had during the Old / New Testament Times.
- To understand what is happening, one has to know the Bible
to compare notes.

The news about churches is unedited unless indicated by Ednotes.
The church as we knew it, is undergoing disintegration. This
began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the
Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican
I.
- The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what
the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all
inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church
which doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word of God has
undergone many changes to fit the present mode. The Bible calls
for a falling away from the truth before Jesus
comes back for His Bride, the true believers called 'Ekklesia.'
Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the Bible is true
from beginning to end.
- The second section is about globalism
where we bring your attention to the social, political and global
trend to prove that we are moving to closure of the times of
the Gentiles.
- The third section compliments End Time
teachings with what is happening in Israel. We describe and watch
for signs of the coming Tribulation to confirm that we are moving
into that space and time.

has denounced Mel Gibson's "The Passion" as an act
of terrorism and can prove the movie violates the Patriot Act.

paraphernalia" and shut down every terrorist hate site on

The Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security
have yet to respond to the inquiries made by Capitol Press regarding
this story.

missionaries rose to four on Tuesday after one of the injured
died while being flown to a military hospital in Baghdad, the
U.S. military said. Their car was riddled with bullets. They
said they KNEW THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WITNESS TO MUSLIMS BUT
WERE THERE FOR OTHER REASONS. The Elliotts were scouting the
best location for a water purification project. What did
Jesus tell His diciple John three times: "If you love me,
feed my sheep." We are to be about the business of sharing

- PASSION TICKETS BEAR 'MARK OF THE BEAST'
ROME, Georgia (AP) -- March 1, 2004 - Tickets at one movie theater
screening Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ"
are being deemed decidedly unholy. The number 666, which many
Christians recognize as the "mark of the beast," is
appearing on movie tickets for Gibson's film at a Georgia theater,
drawing complaints from some moviegoers.
- The machine that prints tickets assigned the number 666 as
a prefix on all the tickets for the film, said Gary Smith, owner
of the Movies at Berry Square in northwest Georgia. The 666 begins
a series of numbers that are listed below the name of the movie,
the date, time and price. "It's from our computer and it's
absolutely a coincidence," Smith said. "It has nothing
to do with the film company or any vendor. It's completely in
our computer."
- In the Bible, the book of Revelation says 666 is the "number
of the beast," usually interpreted as Satan or the Antichrist.
Several patrons have made comments about the numbers, and one
person who was uncomfortable having 666 on her ticket asked for
a pass to be substituted for a ticket.
- "A lot of people have asked what the numbers mean, some
said it seemed odd, some said it was inappropriate," said
theater employee Erica Diaz. The movie, which opened Wednesday,
is a bloody depiction of Christ's final hours and crucifixion.

- MEL'S PASSION BY DAVE HUNT - THE BEREAN CALL
- MARCH 5, 2004 - Confusion (at best) seems to be swirling
around "The Passion of the Christ." An email was forwarded
to me (and probably thousands of other believers) months ago
asking for prayer for the cast and crew of "The
Passion of the Christ," who, at the time, were undergoing
"heavy spiritual warfare." The email originator, Ron
Handley, said he was in contact with the film's star, James Caviesel,
whom he had "discipled" when Jim was a student at the
University of Wash. He noted Jim's prayer request: "This
movie has the potential to bring the entire world, including
the nonreligious, to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ."
Handley then exhorts the reader to "pray right now for the
people you need to invite to see the movie with you."
- So where's the "confusion"? The email gives the
distinct impression that Caviesel is a fellow believer. Really?
Does Caviesel have a "saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?"
His subsequent interviews reveal him to be
an extraordinarily devout Roman Catholic. There's not even a
hint of that in the email. Yet Caviesel in other places proclaims
his zeal for his Catholic faith, his taking the Eucharist daily
during the film's production, his spiritually arming himself
with relics of dead saints and "a splinter from Christ's
cross," his praying the Rosary throughout the shooting of
the film, his devotion to the Marian apparition of Medjugorje,
and his belief that "The Passion of the Christ" was
"made by Mary for her Son." Pray for James Caviesel's
true salvation, and
especially for discernment for the believers, shepherds, and
the sheep flocking to this extremely Catholic motion picture.

- ISRAELI PRESIDENT ASKS VATICAN TO REVEAL LIST OF TEMPLE TREASURES
AND TO RETURN THEM TO BE USED IN THE SOON-TO-BE REBUILT TEMPLE
- Israeli President, Moshe Katzav, asks Vatican to reveal list
of Temple treasures and Judaica held by them
On more than one occasion the Temple Mount Faithful Movement
demanded that the Pope return the Temple treasures to Israel
to be used in the soon-to-be-rebuilt Temple.
During his recent visit to Italy, the President of Israel, Moshe
Katzav, asked the Prime Minister of the Vatican, Cardinal Angelo
Sudano, to prepare a list of all the Temple treasures, vessels,
and Judaica that are being held by the Vatican. The President
asked for the Vatican's co-operation on this sensitive matter.

with other temple artifacts) to Rome following the 70 A.D. destruction
of the Temple. Israeli
President Moshe Katzav, had similarly requested the Vatican
to return the Menorah and Temple artifacts sometime ago during

- Rabbinical Judaism, shaped by the writings of 12th-century
Jewish scholar Moses Maimonides, is conditioned to accept the
one who helps rebuild their Third Temple, as their Messiah. The

of the chief rabbis to further win their trust towards the Papacy.

The Pope has described a meeting with Israel's chief rabbis on
Friday as "a sign of great hope" and a chance to improve
understanding and co-operation. .. The rabbis had said they would
bring up a fabled biblical candelabra thought to have been looted
by Romans in AD 70. But one of them later said they had left
it to the Pope's "discretion".

- EVANGELICAL CATHOLICS NOT BORN AGAIN
- December 18, 2003 David Cloud - WayofLife.org - There has
been much talk about "evangelical Catholics" in the
past 10 years. These, allegedly, are people who are born again
but who remain in
the Roman Catholic Church. In 2000 I attended a large ecumenical
charismatic conference in St. Louis,
Missouri, with press credentials. More than half of the attendees
were Roman Catholic, so I took my own little survey by interviewing
representatives of the organizations that had displays in the
exhibit hall.
- I asked one simple question: "When were you born again?"
Not one evangelical Catholic that I interviewed gave me a scriptural
answer to this most important question.
- A nun from Notre Dame said, "I've always been in love
with God."
- A woman who teaches in the art department at the Franciscan
University of Steubenville said she was born again either when
she saw a miraculous light shining around the priest at her first
mass when she was 15 years old or at her first charismatic retreat
in 1972.
- A representative of Chariscenter USA told me he was born
again when he was baptized as a teenager and that his children
were born again when they were baptized as infants.
- A representative of Marian Publishers was very puzzled and
informed me that "born again" is not a Catholic term.
After I explained that Jesus used the term in John 3, he replied
that he was probably born again when he was baptized as a baby
and also when he was confirmed.
- One of the founders of Signs of the Times Apostolate told
me she was born again when she was baptized and confirmed and
when she rededicated her life to God at age 21.
- Joseph, a lay "brother" in a Catholic order, told
me he was born again when he attended a charismatic meeting in

Praise God! I can't tell you how much you're site has been a

We went outside the camp 4 years ago after being in Santa Cruz
Bible Church (Chip Ingram/ Dan Kimball) for 10 years. We saw

My husband was raised Catholic including 16 yrs of Parochial
Catholic education before he came to salvation in Jesus Christ
June 1980. I came from multigenerational occult family before
coming to saving knowledge & believing on Jesus Christ as
my Lord and Savior in February 1979. And because of that background
I have a real radar for anything occultic that is creeping into
the church and for my husband it's the awareness of the march
toward Rome. And with the "Occult doctrine" they delight
in "hiding in plain sight" where they state their agenda
openly knowing the undiscerning and spiritually blind will not

I was struck by the picture you posted from Rick Warren's site.
With the three pyramids and the sun. The triangle in the occult
is their trinity,( Lucifer, antichrist & false prophet) and
in that picture it's been multiplied therefore emphasized three
times. The sun is the god Ra, but also depicts rays coming out,
similar to the rays radiating out of the eye of Horus on the
dollar bill, which also connects to the Masonic symbolism of
the royal secret of 30~ masonry. With the symbol's and logos
that are used on his site and materials, Rick Warren is hiding
his "purpose" and agenda in plain site. “An astonishing
and horrible thing has been committed in the land: The prophets
prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And
My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?"

- A PROMINENT ACCUSER IN BOSTON ABUSE SCANDAL IS FOUND DEAD
- BOSTON, Feb. 23, 2004 — Pam Belluck - Patrick McSorley
was 12 when a priest named John J. Geoghan took him out for ice
cream, offering comfort to a boy whose father had just committed
suicide. Instead, as Mr. McSorley described it years later, Father
Geoghan molested him in his car. Father Geoghan would become
a central figure in the sexual abuse scandal that rocked the
parishes of Boston. He was defrocked in 1998 and sentenced to
prison in 2002 for fondling a 10-year-old boy. And Mr. McSorley
would become one of the scandal's most public accusers, appearing
at news conferences, demonstrations and court hearings.
- But on Monday, after years of struggling with the scars of
his ordeal, Mr. McSorley, 29, was found dead in a friend's apartment
in Boston's North End. A Police Department spokesman, David Estrada,
said the cause of death would not be known until autopsy results
were analyzed.Mr. McSorley was one of the first people to come
forward with accusations of abuse, telling his story in January
2002, as the scandal was erupting. He was also one of the younger
men to speak publicly about his experience...
- By all accounts, Mr. McSorley wrestled with demons, even
after Mr. Geoghan went to prison, and even after Mr. McSorley
and 85 others who said they were molested by Mr. Geoghan shared
a $10 million legal settlement in September 2002. "The money's
nothing," said William Oberle, a friend of Mr. McSorley
who said he was a victim of abuse. "It doesn't bring closure."
- In August, Mr. Geoghan was strangled and beaten in prison;
another inmate was charged in the killing. "I said when
Geoghan died, at least he'll never molest another child again,"
Mr. Oberle said. "But he's still molesting them. He's still
affecting these children."

- FEEDING SHEEP OR AMUSING GOATS?
A Message by C. H. Spurgeon That Speaks To Us Today - An evil
resides in the professed camp of the Lord so gross in its imprudence
that the most shortsighted can hardly fail to notice it. During
the past few years it has developed at an abnormal rate evil
for evil. It has worked like leaven until the whole lump ferments.
The devil has seldom done a cleverer thing than hinting to the
Church that part of their mission is to provide entertainment
for the people, with a view to winning them. From speaking out
as the Puritans did, the Church has gradually toned down her
testimony, then winked at and excused the frivolities of the
day. Then she tolerated them in her borders. Now she has adopted
them under the plea of reaching the masses.
- My first contention is that providing amusement for the people
is nowhere spoken of in the Scriptures as a function of the Church.
If it is a Christian work why did not Christ speak of it? "Go
ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
That is clear enough. So it would have been if He has added,
"and provide amusement for those who do not relish the gospel."
No such words, however, are to be found. It did not seem to occur
to Him. Then again, "He gave some apostles, some prophets,
some pastors and teachers, for the work of the ministry."
Where do entertainers come in? The Holy Spirit is silent concerning
them. Were the prophets persecuted because they amused the people
or because they refused? The concert has no martyr roll...
- After Peter and John were locked up for preaching, the Church
had a prayer meeting, but they did not pray, "Lord grant
Thy servants that by a wise and discriminating use of innocent
recreation we may show these people how happy we are." If
they ceased not for preaching Christ, they had not time for arranging
entertainments. Scattered by persecution, they went everywhere
preaching the gospel. They "turned the world upside down."
That is the difference! Lord, clear the Church of all the rot
and rubbish the devil has imposed on her and bring us back to
apostolic methods.

Church but the Vishwa Hindu Parishad as well. VHP activists,
besides filing a police complaint, have warned that they will
take action at the venue if anything objectionable is said about
the Hindu religion or India . The complaint, filed with the commissioner
of police, demands that the police investigate two things: whether
the preacher is misusing a tourist visa and what the source of
his funding is. It also stresses that should there be an attempt
at conversion, it should be stopped immediately. "Top police
officials have assured us that the event will be monitored closely
and action will be taken if necessary," says Arun Handa
of theMumbai VHP. Alleging that the purpose of the rally is religious
conversion, the VHP cites Mr Hinn's background—which
they claim is evangelistic—as proof. "In
a secular country like India , such conventions are a clear violation

- SOME CHURCHES JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN
- The Christian Science Monitor - Kris Axtman - HOUSTON -After
a rousing live performance of "Jesus is better than life,"
broadcast over three Jumbotrons in the Compaq Center, Victoria
Osteen steps to the podium in front of 16,000 cheering Sunday
worshipers and proclaims: "We're going to rock today. This
place has been rocked a lot of times, but it's never been rocked
for Jesus." Indeed, the sports arena first opened with The
Who in 1975 and closed with ZZ Top just weeks ago. It has been
home to two Houston Rockets championships and plenty of other
memorable games and events. But earlier this month, the Compaq
Center took on a new role as city leaders officially turned the
keys over to Lakewood Church - the largest congregation in the
United States, with more than 25,000 attendants each weekend,
according to Church Growth Today. Gone are traditional religious
dogma, rituals, and symbols, replaced by
uplifting songs and sermons. Congregants are taught that - through
God - they are victors, not victims. The messages are encouraging
and easy to swallow, and no one is called a sinner. It's "Jesus
meets the power of positive thinking."
- "There's none of that old-time religion; none of that
hell-and-damnation, fire-and-brimstone preaching," says
Alan Wolfe, director of the Boisi Center for Religion and American
Public Life at Boston College. "The message tends to be
more upbeat, one of empowerment. And it seems to be working.
These churches are packed." At Lakewood's recent groundbreaking
services, Pastor Joel Osteen's
sermon - given like a motivation speech - included phrases like:
"Keep a good attitude. Don't get negative or bitter. Be
determined. Shake it off and step up."

choir, dozens of slick music videos and, yes, the wave, congregants
were enraptured. "We love it. We don't miss a Sunday,"
says Annette Ramirez, sitting in the arena's front row with her

- MAKING IT UP AS THEY GO ALONG
- Cult leaders have shouldered a heavy burden. Not speaking
under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, they utter prophecies
which with time prove to be false. Under the date of January
23, 1833, Joseph Smith
recorded the following in his History of the Church, volume 1,
page 323: "... my father presented himself,... I asked of
him a father's blessing, which he granted by laying his hands
upon my head, in the name of Jesus Christ, and declaring that
I should continue in the Priest's office until Christ comes."
- When the Twelve Apostles were first ordained in the Mormon
church some of them also received the promise that they would
live until Christ came: "The blessing of Lyman E. Johnson
was,... that he shall live until the gathering is accomplished....
and he shall see the Savior come and stand upon the earth with
power and great glory" (History of the Church, vol. 2, p.188).
Writing in 1838, Apostle Parley P. Pratt said the following:
"Now, Mr. Sunderland.... I will state as a prophesy, that
there will not be an
unbelieving Gentile upon this continent 50 years hence; and if
they are not greatly scourged, and in a great measure overthrown,
within five or ten years from this date, then the Book of Mormon
will have proved
itself false" (Mormonism Unveiled - Truth Vindicated, by
Parley P. Pratt, p.15; copied from a microfilm of the original
at the Mormon church historian's library).
- Postscript: June 27, 1844 (account of John Taylor, 3rd President
of the Mormon Church): 5:30 a. m.-"Arose. Joseph requested
Dan Jones to descend and inquire of the guard the cause of the
disturbance in the night. Frank Worrel, the officer of the guard,
who was one of the Carthage Greys, in a very bitter spirit said,
'We have had too much trouble to bring Old Joe here to let him
ever escape alive, and unless you want to die with him you had
better leave before sundown; and you are not a d____ bit better
than him for taking his part, and you'll see that I can prophesy
better than Old Joe, for neither he nor his brother, nor anyone
who will remain with them will see the sun set today.' "
(Shortly after 5:00 p.m. an armed mob forced their way past the
guards at the Carthage jail and engaged in a brief gun battle
with Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum. Although killing two
of the assailants and wounding others, both
Hyrum and Joseph were killed. All of the other "Apostles"

study and they disappear. We must understand, however, that truth
is complex. I was told early in my school life that water conducts

was taught that water does not conduct electricity, it is only
the impurities in water that allow conduction. Still later I
learnt that water does conduct electricity, it is just that it
does not conduct it very much. Truth is indeed complex, and in

in a country strongly opposed both to religion and to anything
thought to be foreign, they must have discovered something very
real and powerful.
- In Africa, the number who follow Christ has risen from 3%
in 1900 to 45% today.
- Over the last few decades, South Koreans have been rushing
to Jesus by the millions. As a result, the UN has officially
declared as a Christian nation this one-time Buddhist stronghold.
Worldwide, people are giving their lives to Jesus at an astounding
average of nearly a million converts a week.
- On the decline? You must be joking! It is estimated that
of every true Christian since the first century, 70% came to
Christ after 1900. Of these, 70% had their life-changing experience
with Jesus since World War II. And of them, 70% became Christians
in the last 4-5 years.
- A different view: The
Bible declares that at the name of Jesus every human and god
and demon and force will bow. Jesus’ position of head of
the universe was confirmed by what happened to his blood drained
corpse, trapped in a sealed tomb, tied up with cloth, weighed
down with spices, its insides ripped apart by a spear. His body
sprang to life again. And his uniqueness has been put to the
test by missionaries reaching every religion known with the never-ending
power of Jesus and by Christian converts from all manner of beliefs
who through Christ have been set free from atheism, Satanism,
demon possession, curses, slavery to drugs, alcohol, impure sex,

- Ancient Greeks believed the world was round. In the third
century BC Eratosthenes even calculated the earth’s circumference.
Yet this belief eventually fell out of favor and remained unpopular
for centuries until scientific advance made the belief popular
again. But popular opinion never changed the shape of the earth.
Neither can popular opinion change our spiritual need.
- Christianity, like probably nothing else in modern society,
has stood the test of time. In fact, it is gaining popularity

- Jesus’ teaching is unfashionable in the same sense that
travel to other planets is not fashionable. If, however, by old-fashioned
we mean that which is crude and outclassed, Jesus’ teaching
makes modern society old-fashioned.
- The morality of Jesus was so far ahead of its time that 2,000
years after Jesus brought it to this planet, modern society is

- -Fuller Seminary has received a $1 million grant from the
Justice Department to help fund a project aimed at calming relations
between Christians and Muslims, seeming to promote the idea that
the two are equally acceptable religions. Its proposed interfaith
code of ethics rejects offensive statements about each other's
faiths, affirms a mutual belief in one God, and pledges not to
proselytize. Nearly 100 retired SBC missionaries signed a plea
in June asking Christian leaders to refrain from making inflammatory
public statements about Islam which would harm missionary work
in Muslim lands (1/3/04 World). An SBC spokesman said "for
Fuller to declare that Christians and Muslims worship the same
God would be a radical departure."(12/8 Agape) The Council
on Amer.-Islamic Relations is demanding an apology from Paul
Harvey for referring to Islam as "a religion which encourages killing."

CHINA CRUSHES HOUSE CHURCHES
- -Inside sources say Red China is crushing the house church
movement. It considers unregistered churches political subversives.
Protestant churches can register only through the China Christian
Council and its related Three-Self Patriotic Movement. Both closely
cooperate with the Communist regime, which forbids worship outside
state-backed official "patriotic" religious bodies (1/04
Chr. Today). Worship is allowed only in government-monitored
churches, temples, and mosques. In a two-month period beginning
last mid-August, authorities closed or bulldozed over 100 churches
in one town. (12/23 Huntsville Times). Today, about 15 million
Protestants and 10 million Catholics worship in the official
churches. Millions more belong to unofficial house churches.

FAITH-BASED FUNDING RULES STILL APPLY
- -In 2000 Congress voted to give $600,000 to fund Bowery Mission's
summer camp for at-risk youth through the Dept. of Justice. But
a Justice Dept. bureaucrat said Bowery couldn't receive the money
unless it stopped hiring only Christians. Bowery said that would
destroy its mission. After a year of wrangling, Justice let the
grant go through on a one-time deal (Jan. '04). So all the rules
are still in effect and Christian organizations can't get Justice
Department grants if they hire only Christians. Washington

- CHURCH 'TERMINATED' IN SAME-SEX BATTLE
- National Post - Michael Higgins - 12-24-2004 - An Anglican
church defying its bishop by refusing to support same-sex unions
has been "terminated" only days before Christmas. The
decision by Bishop Michael Ingham to close Holy Cross in Abbotsford,
B.C., is the latest action in a dispute that is threatening to
split the Anglican church worldwide. Despite the closure, the
priest at Holy Cross, the Rev. James Wagner, vowed yesterday
to celebrate mass on Christmas Day with parishioners. "As
far as the diocese is concerned we do not exist. We are a non-entity,"
Mr. Wagner said yesterday. "But I will not abandon these
people. I will continue to pastor and pray for them in the midst
of this crisis."

PAY-OFF YEAR FOR RCC
- -Last year was pay-out year for the Roman Catholic Church.
U.S. dioceses agreed to pay alleged victims of clergy sexual
abuse nearly $100 million, probably millions more undisclosed,
and the end is nowhere in sight. The Boston archdiocese alone
paid out $10 million in 2002 to 86 alleged victims of priest
John Geoghan, who was killed in prison. It agreed in September to pay
$85 million to 552 people to settle claims. (12/27 World).

TOLKIEN, LORD OF THE RINGS
- -Despite the PG-13 rating and occultic imagery presented
in J.R.R. Tolkien's popular book and movie trilogies, many evangelical
Christians have highly praised the "Lord of the Rings"
as harmless fantasy. The third movie ("Return of the King")
was released in Dec. 2003. We ran an article in the July 2003
CC warning of the danger, and David Cloud did an incisive analysis
of the series, and commented thusly: "Though not as overtly
and sympathetically occultic as the Harry Potter series, Tolkien's
fantasies are unscriptural and present a very dangerous message."
Tolkien was a Catholic and many of the "Lord of the Rings"

- FALWELL PRAISES RICK WARREN'S GROWTH METHODS
- -Dr. Jerry Falwell and other Southern Baptist leaders have
highly praised Rick Warren's pragmatic philosophy of ministry
and unbiblical, marketing-inspired methods for church growth.
Fundamentalists must beware of Warren's "Purpose-Driven"
methods and inaccurate theology, and for Falwell's influence
and compromise. Secular marketing strategies, capitulation to
an ungodly culture and meeting the perceived needs of the unregenerate
may result in higher "numbers" at church, but the implementation
of such "methods" does not glorify God nor accomplish

TORONTO DROPS LAUGHTER & BIZARRE NOISES
- -A decade ago charismatic worshippers at a small church near
Toronto's airport began laughing uncontrollably. They also made
animal noises - braying, barking, howling and roaring. They collapsed
to the floor, staggered as if drunk, shook and jerked; wept,
wailed and yelped. Faces contorted, groans, and bodies prone

wild manifestations were called "Holy laughter," "laughing
revival," "signs and wonders," etc., but now dubbed

WCC PROGRAM HAS ANTI-AMERICAN SLANT
- -World Council of Churches committees are meeting in New
York City to plan a year-long series of events as part of the
WCC's "Decade to Overcome Violence"-events that will
target the U.S. as a proponent of violence ( 1/13 AgapePress).
Over 30 denominations (mainly mainline/liberal Protestant) belong
to the left-wing WCC. In the past it has largely ignored human
rights violations and aggression by the old Soviet bloc and instead
focused on the sins, real and imagined, of the U.S. and its allies.
In its supposed passion for social justice, it seems to ignore
crimes and oppressions of communist and Islamic dictatorships

- -A Nov. Faith And Freedom article lists three disturbing
things about popular author John Maxwell. First is the manner
in which he handles the Scriptures to "teach" his principles
is sometimes egregiously mistaken. Second he either implicitly
or explicitly endorses some New Age teachers and doctrines. Third
in addition to the New Age elements peppered throughout his material,
Maxwell also employs questionable theological doctrines, such
as the mistaken notion of the miraculous, a conspicuous absence
of the cross, and questionable psychological doctrines (self-esteem, etc.).

- CHURCHES REACHING POSTMODERN CULTURE
Alpharetta Ga. (BP)-A new television special produced by, the
North American Mission Board introduces a secular audience on
ABC affiliated stations to a different kind of church-those designed
to offer a distinctly postmodern approach to worship and the
Christian faith. The special, titled "The Changing Face
of Worship", details the response of nine different churches
to the rise of postmodern culture. It [began] airing on local
affiliates December 7, with scheduling at the discretion of the
local station. Eric Ramsey, a NAMB church planting specialist
and one of the executive producers for the project, said the
goal was to reintroduce the church to "an entire generation
to a generation-and-a-half of people" who have found the
church irrelevant.
"Their experience with church is that 'you need to change
all of your ways and be like us,"' he said. "One thing
that I would like the national ABC audience to understand is
that there are churches that are intentionally trying to connect
with people just like them, and provide relevant expressions
of worship, relevant ministries and relevant activities without
compromising biblical truth and integrity."
The documentary is part of the "Vision and Values"
series of the Interfaith Broadcast Commission. Other NAMB-produced
network documentaries in the same series have tackled issues
ranging from the faith of professional athletes to the role of
churches in the civil rights movement.
The churches profiled include a mix of Southern Baptist and other
evangelical congregations, with a common theme being that they
were designed to attract individuals with a postmodern mind-set....
Author Leonard Sweet further describes the fundamental premise
of these churches. "Whatever the culture is, you incarnate
the Gospel, embed the Gospel in that culture. You go live with
them, you eat with them, and you become one of them. And you
learn their music, and you learn their language. And these emerging
churches are just learning the language of this postmodern culture."

explained by its own advocates. Openly disavowing what is described
as a "you need to change all your ways and be like us"
approach, they, like chameleons, are changing themselves to fit

The great majority of Westerners think that disputed ownership
of land is the cause of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Scarcely a
day passes without the news media propagating and enforcing this

all serve the same God and that there must be "understanding
and interfaith-dialogue," will benefit the Church as much
as the hunter benefited from his compromise with the grizzly

a meal, so the nice hunter compromised; the grizzly bear got
his meal and the hunter was inside the grizzly bear's fur coat.

- HAL LINDSAY EXPLAINS: WHO ARE THE PALESTINIANS?
One of the most misunderstood issues today is the question of
"Who are the Palestinians"? The truth about this matter
has been so deliberately obscured that even to raise the question
will seem strange to many. In his book, "THE EVERLASTING
ROOTS OF JIHAD," Hal traces the history of the people now
being called the "Palestinians." In the 7th century,
the Muslims took control of Palestine for the first time. From
A.D. 635 until 1917, the Muslims ruled it, with only a few interruptions
by the European Crusaders. During that span of time, the land
was reduced to total desolation. Many people who traveled the
land in the 19th century remarked on the fact that Palestine
was as desolate as the moon and very few people lived there.
By all eyewitness accounts of that era, Palestine was a total
desolation.
- There were virtually no trees and no people. Because of lack
of trees, the weather changed and it rarely ever rained. The
Muslims thought the land was worthless anyway, so they sold it
to the "dumb Jews" for extremely inflated prices. To
everyone's amazement, the Jews were very successful at reclaiming
the land. Many of them died from malaria and the rigorous life
the work demanded, but they performed an agricultural miracle
that made the land very productive again. As a result of their
success, poor migrant workers from the surrounding Muslim countries
began to flood in to work for the Jews. Almost all of the people
calling themselves "Palestinians" today are the descendants
of those migrant workers.
- The so-called "Palestinians" are not a homogeneous
people, but rather a mixture of workers from several countries,
with no cohesive organizational or political skills, plus they
have never been a people with or from historical nation or a
state. When the Hashemite Tribe, who were rulers over Mecca and
Medina for centuries, were driven out by the Saudis, the British
gave them control over the vastly greater numbers of "migrant
workers" in Trans Jordan. The British said this would be,
in effect, "The State of Palestine." Instead, the Hashemites,
who make up only about 20% of the population, turned it into
their own kingdom and called it the Kingdom of Jordan. When the
Jordanians and Egyptians controlled the so-called West Bank and
the Gaza Strip for 19 years (1948 to 1967), there was never a
thought of giving the disorganized mass of "migrant workers"
a state. Why? Because they knew there was no such homogeneous
people known as "Palestinians."
- The current efforts of the Muslim Middle East nations to
give these same people a state is clearly a ploy to get a foothold
inside Israel. It is a strategic accommodation to establish a
base from which the final assault against Israel can be made.
What they couldn't do militarily is now being facilitated through
the United States and the E.U. Muslims will never accept a permanent
presence of "infidels" in what they claim is sacred
Islamic soil. Especially Jewish infidels for which the Koran
reserves its most vehement condemnations. In their minds, the
Koran and Allah will not let them accept Jews in what they view
as their third holiest site. The United States had better learn
these things, or we will find ourselves guilty of facilitating
the destruction of God's people, to whom the Word of God says
the land belongs to forever. God will not let that happen, but
He will certainly judge those who have any part in trying to

- BELIEVER IN REINCARNATION WANTS TO BE REINSTATED
- Copenhagen (ENI). Denmark's High Court is finalising its
judgement over the expulsion of a church verger who believes
in reincarnation, and who has sued the government's Ministry
of Church Affairs, because he wants to be reinstated. In 1994,
Steen Ribers was expelled from Denmark's Lutheran church because
he -
as a member of a church parish council and as a church official
- said he believed in reincarnation, and wrote and talked about
it in public. If the judgement goes against Ribers, one in four
women and one in 10 men who are members of the church could in
principle expect to be expelled from the church, because they

of the sex crimes committed against children by priests during
the past 52 years were homosexual men preying on boys (Washington
Times, Feb.
28). The John Jay study, which was released on February 27, covered
the years from 1950 to 2002 and found 10,667 cases of abuse involving
4,292 priests. The study also found that the Catholic Church
has
spent at least $657 million in lawsuits and treatment for priests,
and that is based on statistics from only 86% of the dioceses.

- Debate rages - Warsaw (ENI). A Russian Orthodox spokesman
has called for Lenin's body to be removed from its mausoleum
in Moscow's Red Square and reburied according to Christian rites,
as debates rage on about how holy the site is where the atheist
revolutionary is buried. Russian Orthodox Church observers have
noted that opinions remained divided over the famous landmark,
whose future has been debated since the Soviet Union's 1990-1
break-up. "It isn't normal for a person's body to be placed
on public display and
used as an exhibit," said Vsevolod Chaplin, deputy director
of the Moscow Patriarchate's External Affairs Department, in
remarks reported by Poland's Kosciol.pl ecumenical news agency.

- CHURCH LEADERS REVILE 'BLIND VIOLENCE' OF MADRID BOMB BLASTS
- Geneva, 12 March (ENI)--Church leaders in Spain and around
the world have issued condemnations of the bomb attacks on commuter
trains in Madrid the previous day in which at least 198 people
were reported killed and more than 1400 wounded. "We reject
absolutely this inhuman act of blind violence that feeds only
on hate and bitterness," said Joel Cortes Casals, president
of the Spanish Evangelical Church as he called for special prayers
at Sunday church services. Pope John Paul II said the terrorist
attacks "offend God, violate the fundamental right to life
and suffocate the peaceful coexistence for which the church community
and the noble Spanish nation deeply yearn".
- "We fear that our world is sliding into a spiral of
violence that could lead to prayers of intercession and the proclamation
of the Word of God be transformed into a cry for the construction
of a world in which all forms of violence are banned," said
the Spanish Protestant leader. "In this context, we recall
the initiative launched by the World Council of Churches in its

- GERMAN LUTHERAN BISHOP CRITICISES CATHOLIC STAND ON ECUMENICAL
SERVICES. Bielefeld, Germany (ENI). Germany's Roman Catholic
bishops have dealt a blow to ecumenism say other Christian leaders,
by firmly rejecting a proposal for Catholics and Protestants
to celebrate church unity at joint services on Whit Monday. The
idea originally came from Germany's biggest Catholic lay organization,
the Central Committee of German Catholics, and had been approved
by the country's main Lutheran church grouping, the United Evangelical
