this ministry. We were Mormons (Temple Mormons) for 20 years.
We prayed to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry speaking
out against Scientology. Six months later God led us to the truth:
out of the cult of Mormonism. We did not know at the time we
were in a cult. No-one had witnessed to us in 20 years.
- The Holy Spirit brought us to information about all the cults
and the present development of the New World Order. We began
bringing our research to you. Because all the research was already
done, we decided to build a library within Cephas Ministry. Our

anger which is strictly prohibited in Scripture. It is to shed
light on activities by those who would deceive those who are
recorded in the Book of Life by devious methods and systematic

God always had during the Old / New Testament Times.

The news about churches is unedited unless indicated by Ednotes.
The church as we knew it, is undergoing disintegration. This
began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the
Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican
I.
- The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what
the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all
inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church
and today's church doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word
of God has undergone many changes to fit the progressive modes.
Many new Bible tranlations have brought confusion. The Bible
calls for a falling away from the truth before
Jesus comes back for His Bride. The true believers are called
'Ekklesia.' Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the
Bible is true from beginning to end.
- The second section is about globalism
where we bring your attention to the social, political and global
trend, the so called democratizing what is left of the world.
This is a deception since the underlying new world global government
is developed by implementing sustainable development. The
Bible prophesies that there will be ten kings (ten horns), each
king (horn) will receive a region of the world as a reward for
work well done for the Antichrist. This is the reason for the
present development of NAU (The North American Union) as well
as the war in the Middle East. It again proves that we are moving
to closure of the times of the Gentiles prophesied in the Bible.
The end result will not be Democracy but a form of Fascist Communism
(Public/Private Corporations enslaving mankind).
- The third section compliments End Time
teachings because Israel is the time piece of the Biblical Prophecy.
1948 was the beginning of the figtree representing Israel, coming
back to life. Israel was allowed to return to its land. Israel
is the rock upon which the world stumbles and crumbles. We watch
and visit Israel for signs which point to the Tribulation to
confirm that we are moving into that space of time.

- THAT I MAY KNOW HIM: “From the Psalms of David”
THE FIRST TESTAMENT “GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST” BY THE
PSALMIST DAVID! One of the greatest experiences you will ever
have in the FIRST TESTAMENT is to view the revelations of Christ
by King David. The Book of Psalms is the most read book in the
First Testament. This book is so eternal and unmatched in literature
that it stands alone. David is called, “The Man After God’s
Own Heart”. His one great failure broke his heart and left
him a more humble and sensitive man, The Bible does not record
the moment in his life that he received his first revelation
of the Christ. It must have been before he started writing the
Psalms. In Psalms two he saw the “Virgin Birth”, in
Psalms 22, he saw the “Crucifixion and in Psalms 16, he
saw the“Resurrection”. Please notice the certainty
of his words. “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell;
neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”
(Psalms 16:10) When he spoke of the Virgin Birth it was also
a beautiful statement of the “Trinity of God. “I will
declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son;
this day have I begotten thee.” (Psalms 2:7) The ‘Only
Begotten Son” is a classic term concerning His conception
by the Holy Ghost. The description of the “Crucifixion”
is even more graphic. Note several verses from Psalms 22. “My
God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from
helping me, and from the words of my roaring? I am poured out
like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like
wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. For dogs have compassed
me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced
my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and
stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots
upon my vesture.” (Psalms 22:1,14,16-18) You will never
find a description of the Savior’s death more powerful than
these words of David. Watch your E-mails for the Salty Saints

- A CUP OF TREMBLING

- This is the word of the Lord concerning Israel. The Lord, Who
stretches out the Heavens Who lays the foundations of the Earth,
and Who forms the spirit of man within him declares, “I
am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding
peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.
On that day when all the nations of the earth are gathered against
her I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations.
All who try to move it will injure themselves” (Zech 12:1-3).
True, the ultimate fulfillment of this passage will come at the
very end of the age, but a careful reading shows the progressive
nature of the prophecy. First the surrounding nations will be
sent reeling, with both Judah (West Bank) and Jerusalem besieged.
Ultimately all the nations of the earth will be involved, and
those who move against Jerusalem will wind up injuring themselves.
And please don’t miss the way the Author identifies Himself:
the One Who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of
the earth and forms man’s spirit within him. Not much doubt
as to Who’s speaking, so we better pay attention.
When Will These Things Happen?
It’s safe to say that all the nations of the earth are troubled
over Jerusalem today. They realize the ease with which the whole
world could be drawn into a conflict in the Middle East. And
almost all are already aligned against Jerusalem. Remember, the
prophecy is initially focused on the surrounding peoples and
indicates that Judah and Jerusalem will be besieged. The degree
to which this part of the prophecy is already being fulfilled
is frightening. Much of the land bordering Israel has become
little more than an armed camp, filled with troops at the ready.

- CHURCH OF NATIVITY WALK-THROUGH,
WHERE JESUS CHRIST WAS WAS BORN [40 PICS]
- The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is one of the oldest
continuously operating churches in the world. The structure is
built over the cave that tradition marks as the birthplace of
Jesus of Nazareth, and thus it is considered sacred by Christians.
- The structure is actually a combination of two churches,
with a crypt beneath—the Grotto of the Nativity—where
Jesus was born.
- The birth of Jesus is narrated in the Gospels of Matthew
and Luke. Matthew gives the impression that Mary and Joseph were
from Bethlehem and later moved to Nazareth because of Herod’s
decree, while Luke indicates that Mary and Joseph were from Nazareth,
and Jesus was born in Bethlehem while they were in town for a
special census. Scholars tend to see these two stories as irreconcilable
and believe Matthew to be more reliable because of historical
problems with Luke’s version. But both accounts agree that
Jesus was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth.

- COLORADO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FILES LAWSUIT OVER OBAMACARE

Colorado Christian University became the first interdenominational
Christian college to challenge in federal court the Obamacare
mandate of abortifacients – drugs that induce abortions.
On Wednesday, CCU joined Belmont Abbey College, a Catholic college
in North Carolina in filing a lawsuit over the regulation that
requires employers' health insurance plans to provide free contraception
and sterilization under their group health plan.
- As a Christian college, CCU teaches the sanctity of life
at all stages, and that abortions are against God’s law.
- The contraception regulation is part of the Patient Protection
and Affordable Care Act of 2010, which requires group health
plans to include “[a]ll Food and Drug Administration approved
contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, and patient
education and counseling for all women with reproductive capacity.”
- FDA-approved contraceptives include a number of drugs Colorado
Christian and many scientists consider to be abortifacients –
most notably Plan B (“morning after pill”) and ella

- FEDERAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM BOARD IN DANGER OF CLOSURE PROOF
OF WAR ON RELIGION?

Post Mon, Dec. 12 2011 - The possible end to a religious freedom
watchdog has Christians wondering if the United States is weakening
its fight for religious freedom. The United States Commission
on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), an independent,
bipartisan federal government board, faces potential closure
if Congress fails to approve its reauthorization bill by Friday,
Dec. 16. For USCIRF to continue to receive government funding,
President Barack Obama and Congress must approve the organization’s
reauthorization of government funding.
- USCIRF has begun taking steps to close its facilities, such
as archiving records and “winding down” operations,
Chairman Leonard Leo told The Blaze. The commission, although
it receives a relatively small $4 million federal grant every
year, has received criticism for being excessive, especially
in such dire economic times when the government needs to cut
back on spending. It has also been criticized for alleged biases,
as seen in the 2009 complaint filed by former policy analyst
Safiya Ghori-Ahmad, who accused USCIRF of failing to renew her

- WILL THE SENATE SAVE THE U.S. COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM?

Post - Nov. 11 2011 - Time is running out for the Senate Committee
on Foreign Relations to take action on saving the American government's
signature religious freedom agency. The United States Commission
on International Religious Freedom was launched in 1998 to focus
on America's foreign policy concerning faith practices overseas.
It has traditionally served as watchdog for religious persecution
in other countries and advises the president, Congress and the
State Department on strategies for halting it.
- As reported by Doug Carlson of the Ethics and Religious Liberty
Commission, the bipartisan commission is currently staring down
a stoppage of its own. Since early fall, the interfaith group
has lingered in limbo between life and death.
- USCIRF's governing mandate was initially set for expiration
in September, only to receive salvation from an overall government
resolution on the budget that extended its shelf-life two months.
Now nearing its Nov. 18 finish line, USCIRF has received House
approval but lingers in a Senate seemingly disinterested in supporting

- PAT ROBERTSON CRITICIZED FOR SUGGESTING HOMOSEXUALS CAN CHANGE

- Wed, Dec. 21 2011 - Pat Robertson, often criticized for his
sometimes controversial viewpoints and seemingly off-the-cuff
comments, has ruffled more feathers with his suggestion to a
Christian father that his son was not born gay and could be free
of homosexuality.
- Robertson's statements came during the "Bring It On"
segment of Wednesday's airing of the "The 700 Club,"
in which co-host Kristi Watts read questions from viewers of
the program.
- One of the three questions aired was from a father concerned
with his son's sexuality (at the four-minute mark in the video
below): "How do you show your gay son the love of Jesus
when you know his sexual preference is an abomination to God?"
Roberton responded: "You know they say you love the sinner,
hate the sin? But what I think you gotta do is love him. You're
his father and you want to say, 'Look, I don't agree with what
you're doing.You're my son, you came from my body. You're part
of me. I'm with you, but I'd like you to get out of this.' "

the U.S., stated on its website that the “War on Christmas”
is getting “crazy.”

- RICHARD DAWKINS OUT TO “DESTROY CHRISTIANITY”
- Friday Church News Notes, December 23, 2011 - In an interview
with Christopher Hitchens, which was conducted in October and
published in a special Christmas issue of the New Statesman,
Richard Dawkins admitted that he is out to destroy Christianity.
Dawkins, author of “The God Delusion,” asked his fellow
atheist, “Do you ever worry that if we win and, so to speak,
destroy Christianity, that vacuum would be filled by Islam?”
(New Statesmen, December 16, 2011). Dawkins is whistling in the
dark. Apostate Christianity, such as the Church of England, has
nearly destroyed itself, but Biblical Christianity can no more
be destroyed than Jesus Christ Himself. He promised to be with
His disciples to the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). The Roman
emperors could not destroy Christianity, nor could communist
Russia or communist China, and they had more resources than Dawkins
and his “new atheists.” Hitchens, author of “God
Is Not Great,” died on December 15 of throat cancer, and
Biblical Christianity is alive and well and the gospel is being
preached to the ends of the earth and souls are being saved and
new churches planted. The same will be said when Richard Dawkins
and his entire “new atheist” crowd have gone to their

with the Pentecostal Evangel, a magazine published by the Assemblies
of God, Don Moen, then president of Integrity Music, described
the power of the very dangerous Laughing Revival music in these
words: “Because something is imparted when you listen to
this tape. I don’t want it to sound spooky or mysterious,
but there’s something powerful about embracing the music
of the revival. The fire of the revival can stir in you even
as you listen to the songs that took place at the Brownsville
revival” (“Don Moen Discusses Music at Brownsville
Assembly,” Pentecostal Evangel, November 10, 1996). The
“revival” to which Moen refers in this quote is not
a biblical revival; it is a “revival” in which people
become drunk and stagger about and fall down and shake uncontrollably
and are unable to perform the most basic functions of life. The
pastor at Brownsville, John Kilpatrick, testified that it took
him a half hour just to put on his socks when he was “drunk”
with the Brownsville revival spirit. He laid on the church platform
for as long as four hours, unable to get up. His wife was unable
to cook their food. Whatever this “revival” is, it
is not something that is Bible based and it is very, very dangerous.
It is definitely “another spirit” (2 Cor. 11:4). Yet
Moen testifies that this “anointing” can be imparted

Israeli holy places under Vatican authority, alluding to the
Cenacle on Mount Zion and the garden of Gethsemane at the foot
of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The first site also houses
what is referred to as King David’s tomb.
“There will not be peace if the question of the holy sites
is not adequately resolved”, Tauran said. “The part
of Jerusalem within the walls – with the holy sites of the
three religions – is humanity’s heritage. The sacred
and unique character of the area must be safeguarded and it can
only be done with a special, internationally-guaranteed statute”.

from the south. Comet Lovejoy skimmed across the Sun's edge about
140,000 km above the surface late Dec. 15 and early Dec. 16,
2011, furiously brightening and vaporizing as it approached the
Sun. It is the brightest sungrazing comet that SOHO has ever
seen, with a nucleus about twice as wide as a football field.
It unexpectedly survived the pass and cruised out from behind

reported that it discovered a September memo released at the
esteemed military hospital, in which Navy officials announced
that "no religious items (including Bibles, reading material,
and/or artifacts) are allowed to be given away or used during

UNDERSTANDING CHRISLAM:
- (edited from Prophecy News) Chrislam, which purports to join
Islam and Christianity into one harmonious, synthesized religion,
is fast becoming a rallying point in some American church circles.
Under the leadership of something called "Faith Shared,"
Two organizations, Interfaith Alliance and Human Rights First,
spearheaded an event loosely called "Chrislam Sunday"
on June 26, 2011.
- It was celebrated by dozens of churches nationwide as joint
Christian-Muslim services were held in various Methodist, Episcopal,
Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Unitarian Universalist, Catholic,
Lutheran, Congregational, Baptist and other denominations and
groups. Note that not a single mosque was ever used for a Chrislam
service.
- The fact is that no imam is about to bring a Bible into a
mosque and suggest that our God is their god. For the Muslim
cleric, the only acceptable agreement that both religions are
somehow equals is if doing so presents the perceived image of
a kinder, gentler, politically correct Islam and if doing so
furthers the cause of Islam. It isn't peculiar that Muslim leaders
would endorse Chrislam Sunday, claim that both religions are
on equal footing, or partake in the charade of dialog indulged
in by the Yale Divinity School and assorted foolish Christians..
The Muslim practice of deception of the infidel (that's everyone
outside of Islam) knows no boundaries. This is called "Kitman"
and "Taqiyya." Kitman, or half-truths meant to mislead
an infidel, and Taqiyya, which is complete deception of unbelievers,
are acceptable tactics - as long as Islam is the winner in the
end.
- CHRISLAM FACT SHEET
- Though Chrislam supporters correctly suggest that both Islam
and Christianity have Abrahamic roots and that both religions
teach morals, ethics and monotheism, the similarities quickly
disintegrate with a careful study of either the Bible or the
Qur'an. An examination of the deities worshiped by the two religions
immediately brings into question how any thoughtful, biblically-minded
Christian could ascertain Chrislam's chief edict - that we all
worship the same God.
- Let us examine these facts:
- * Allah is NOT Jehovah * The Jesus of Islam is NOT the Jesus
of the Bible * The Bible does NOT harmonize with the Qur'an *
Salvation by faith is NOT available through Islam * Chrislam
is neither Christian nor Muslim *
- Movements like these only gain ground because Christians
either do not know their Bibles or because they are unwilling
to resist heresy for fear of being ridiculed and labeled as politically
incorrect, hate mongers, or narrow and bigoted. As more Bible
believers in the West become aware of Chrislam, we are waking
to the fact that some of those whom we've accepted as our leaders
have been busy formulating and selling a different gospel and
making alliances at the cost of the Bible, our Christ, and our
God.
- A writer and researcher named Bill Muehlenberg. Muehlenberg,
from "CultureWatch," is a staunch opponent of Chrislam
and in a blog entry, "Chrislam: Ten Reasons To Say 'No,'"
he lists many of the same reasons to reject Chrislam that I do.
One of those is that anytime Christians enter into dialogs like
these it's always at the cost of divine and absolute truth. Muehlenberg
says, "This attempt at interfaith dialogue simply compromises
the Christian gospel. It waters it down so much that there is
nothing recognizable left. When the very core teachings of Christianity
are scuttled or downplayed simply in the interests of 'getting
along' or 'reducing tensions,' then it is a counterproductive
effort." He's completely right.
- It isn't shocking that the root of Chrislam is accepted among
liberals, socialists, one-worlders, Emergents, and others who
appear to be Christian in name only. When Robert Schuller, Jim
Wallis, and Brian McLaren added their names to the list of those
who signed "Loving God and Neighbor Together: A Christian
Response to a Common Word Between Us and You" (the Yale
Divinity School's 2008 Muslim-Christian dialog initiative). However,
it is mystifying how at least the notion that Islam's Allah is
Jehovah God by another name has gained ground in Evangelical
circles.
- Islam rejects both the deity of Christ (Sura 5:17) and His
death on the Cross (Sura 4:157-158).
- What is there to discuss? Still not convinced? One of the
best refutations of Chrislam comes right from the Qur'an itself.

added). How much clearer can it be? There is no spiritual foundation
for this dialog. There is no common ground. Their Allah had no
son. Their god is NOT our God! If the countless admonitions given
to us in the Bible weren't enough, let this passage from the
Qur'an forever stand as a roadblock in the way of any sneaky
Muslim mullah or slippery Christian leader who seeks to equate
Jehovah with the false god of Muhammad. Bible believers are pledged
to the Gospel and not to what's politically correct. Frankly,
I have no time to show respect to a religion that has damned
the soul of every individual who has followed its demonic teachings
for the past 1300 years.
- How odd that, at a time when more Muslims are being saved
than ever before in history, this assortment of foolish American
Christians have taken it upon themselves to try to merge with
Islam. Whether they honestly see it as noble, charitable, or
conciliatory, their mistake will undoubtedly be at the cost of
souls and a further weakened Church.

in its brief before the US Supreme Court that its views on the
ministry and the settlement of disputes may not be “widely

this is the first time in American history that the US government

- According to reports from the Daily Kos and Russia Today,
a company specializing in night raid equipment was awarded a
23 million dollar contract from the Department of Defense and
subsequently went on to lobby for the NDAA which has given the
government the power to indefinitely detain American citizens.
- Surefire LLC openly lobbed for the House version of the NDAA,
a bill many have claimed has effectively ended the Bill of Rights,
months after receiving the 23 million dollar contact from the
DOD.
- Why would this company be receiving a contract which could
outfit at least 30,000 troops with new and updated night raid
equipment when the U.S. is supposedly pulling troops out of Iraq
and, to a smaller extent, Afghanistan?
- Why has this same company gone on to lobby for a bill that
has turned the United States into a war zone?

- So what does Surefire make? In a word, night-raid equipment,
with a fresh new $23 million contract from the DoD even as we
saw troops pulling out of Iraq and they are about to pull out
of Afghanistan.
- The product catalog main categories read things like “weapon
lights, helmet lights, sound suppressors, high capacity magazines.”
The equipment is relatively cheap, not big ticket items in Defense
Department terms. That means this is a big contract. A $23 million
contract would buy enough of these things to outfit maybe 50,000
soldiers.
- If we are pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan, what is
all this stuff for? Night-raid gear? These are basically made
to blind people as they awake from you busting down their door,
not for open combat.
- In a night firefight you don’t want any lights near
you whatsoever. That gives the other guy an easy target.
- Does it seem likely that the night raid gear that will be
provided to the DOD under the 23 million dollar contract will
be used outside the United States when the company who won the
contract is lobbying for a bill that lets the military operate
against American citizens inside the country?

Nutrition said its records showed the lot tested negative for
the bacterium before it was shipped. But Wal-Mart spokeswoman
Dianna Gee said the company decided to pull the lot "out
of an abundance of caution" while health officials investigate
Sunday's death of 10-day-old Avery Cornett. The product could
go back on shelves depending on the outcome of the investigation,

no answers regarding an unusual outbreak of Tourette-like symptoms
in a group of six students at the Junior-Senior High School.

environmental conditions and other factors after the students
began exhibiting neurological tics, similar to Tourette's Syndrome.

other students and staff are not at risk and there have been
no other cases reported. While a cause has not been found, they
are confident that the conditions and symptoms the students are

– In a federal class action, foreclosed homeowners sued
Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and other “leading providers of
residential real estate mortgages,” claiming their disregard
for underwriting standards caused the mortgage meltdown, which
brought more than 930,000 foreclosure filings in the third
quarter of 2010 alone. IndyMac Bank and Countrywide Financial
are among the host of mortgage originators named in the 101-page
complaint, which seeks damages for the 11 named plaintiffs whose
“credit ratings and histories were damaged or destroyed.”

from 2000 through 2009 was willful and pervasive,” the complaint
states. “It began with simple greed and then accelerated
when said defendants discovered they could not sustain their
businesses, unless they systematically and significantly reduced
their underwriting standards and created increasingly complex,
esoteric, and high-risk loan products to induce plaintiffs and
other borrowers into ever larger loans on increasingly risky
terms. As the originator defendants knew from no later than 2004,
these loans were unsustainable for the borrowers and to a certainty

Attorney General Eric Holder (left) has confirmed that before
President Obama signs the National Defense Authorization Act
of 2012 into law he will append a signing statement. Although
the President initially signaled he would veto the measure, the
TPM Muckraker continued: Holder said the language of the NDAA
had been moved in a "substantial way" from some of
the original language which led the president to issue a veto
threat.
"So we are in a better place, I think the regulations, procedures
that will help, and we’ll also have a signing statement
from the president" which will help clarify how they view
the law, Holder said. This type of “stroke of the pen, law
of the land” despotism is nothing new to President Obama.

original opposition to the NDAA had nothing to do with preserving
liberty, but with preserving the President’s preeminence

home in the middle of the night by military personnel and whisked
off for torture, rendition, and interrogation --for an indefinite

wishes to brand you.

for the fiscal 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R.
1540). The House passed the measure on the night of Dec. 14 by
a vote of 283 to 136. It cleared the Senate on the afternoon
of Dec. 15 by a vote of 86-13. Some provisions of the bill, including
one passage regarding military detention of suspected terrorists,
had been the subject of fierce debate, and President Barack Obama
appeared likely to veto the bill because of them. In particular,
the administration objected that the military's role was mandatory,
not optional, taking away the president's power to use discretion
in prosecuting terrorism.

the military the power to detain American citizens without charge

the President initially signaled he would veto the measure,

This type of “stroke of the pen, law of the land”
despotism is nothing new to President Obama. More on that in
a moment. In the present case, the President’s original
opposition to the NDAA had nothing to do with preserving liberty,
but with preserving the President’s preeminence in matters
relating to who has the final say on the tracking and torturing
of those suspected of threatening the security of the homeland.
It is likely, therefore, that President Obama’s signing
statement will give the Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI]
plenary power over the disposition of issues related to the custody
and prosecution of all terror suspects detained domestically.
The Obama administration warned earlier that cutting out the
FBI would reduce the overall effectiveness of investigations,
as well as hamstring the efforts of intelligence officers to
gather reliable intel from those believed to be fighting against
the United States in Afghanistan or Iraq. That will undoubtedly
be prevented in the terms of his unconstitutional interpretations
tacked onto the NDAA.
The bottom line is, the President was just satisfied enough with
the acquiescence of congress to let the bill get to his desk,
but he wants to make sure everyone knows (especially the legislative
branch) just who is the arbiter of who is and is not an “enemy
combatant” and just how “critical intelligence”
will be wrung from those suspects and by whom... His latest
decision to unilaterally demolish the walls of history, law,
and constitutional barriers that separate the executive and legislative
powers demonstrates his intent to persist down the path of despotism
by decree so well trodden by many of his forerunners.

- HOUSE BILLS INTRODUCED TO OVERTURN OBAMA'S HITLER LAW
December 21, 2011 • 1:19AM - Two bills have been introduced
in the House of Representatives to strike President Obama's Hitler
Enabling Law provisions embedded in the National Defense Authorization
Act passed last week on President Obama's insistence, as shock
spreads within the House over the implications of what they,
themselves, have done. The first, H.R. 3676, was introduced while
debate was still ongoing on the NDAA on Dec. 15, by Rep. Jeff
Landry, a freshman Republican from Louisiana; the second, H.R.
3702, was introduced the next day by Democrats Rep. Garamendi
of California and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico. The text of
both bills, like Sen. Feinstein's similar bill in the Senate,
is short and direct.
- H.R. 3676's two operant paragraphs are summarized in its
title: "To amend the detainee provisions of the National
Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 to specifically
state that United States citizens may not be detained against
their will without all the rights of due process afforded to
citizens in a court ordained or established by or under Article
III of the Constitution of the United States."
- Landry stated that he introduced his bill "to guarantee
our citizens their most basic rights under the Constitution,"
adding that "I hope my colleagues from both sides of the
aisle and chamber will join my call for liberty." H.R. 3676
was introduced with 19 co-sponsors, but by today, the number
had grown to 27, 22 Republicans and five Democrats. All of the
Democrats are members of the Black Caucus, including caucus chair
Emmanuel Cleaver. Rep. Landry told The Hill yesterday that he
had extracted a committment that the Armed Services Committee
would hold hearings on the proposed bill early next year, he
hopes in January, so that it can quickly move to the House floor.

VIPR program, in which roving teams of security agents bring
