Moriel did not counter this post and caution this poster to dispense with such commentaries that promote the New Age agenda and blaspheme Jesus Christ. Shortly after I posted a letter which included a warning that Lucifer is not Jesus Christ, they deleted it. I am now writing a new article pertaining to the Lucifer thread and sharing it here: Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown’s commentary on Isaiah 14:12-15: v12 states: Lucifer – “day star”. A title truly belonging to Christ (Rev 22:16), “the bright and morning star” and hereafter to be assumed by Antichrist. According to this modern commentary, Lucifer means day star. Day Star appears once in the Bible: "2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" Look at the context. It is plain and simple that "day star" refers to the Lord Jesus Christ rising in your heart, not Satan! The very next verse tells us that "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation." 2 Pe 1:19. To assert that day star means Lucifer is an occult private interpretation that will set the Christian up to merge with the occult Kingdom of Antichrist! Occult means hidden, and private interpretations are interpretations that derive hidden or private meanings in the Holy Bible. It is only by deriving an occult meaning that one could possibly come to the conclusion that Lucifer means "day star." This commentary stated blasphemy, and I suspect that most Bible study notes and footnotes say essentially the same thing. New Agers need Christians to believe that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are the same, but merely appear to be different: One of today's most influential New Age authors and lecturers, David Spangler, teaches on Lucifer and "Christ." In his book, Reflections on the Christ, Spangler explains that "Christ is the same force as Lucifer but moving in seemingly the opposite direction" and that "Christ is the perfect balance to Lucifer." Robert S. Bennett, a Washington lawyer who led the search committee, Ms. McChesney was selected from 40 candidates by the National Review Board of prominent Catholic lay people, led by Gov. Frank Keating of Oklahoma. The official, Kathleen L. McChesney, a Catholic who has often broken barriers for women in law enforcement, will initiate and direct the new Office for Child and Youth Protection, to be based at the headquarters of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops here. She takes over an office in which she is the first and only staff member. The budget for her office and the National Review Board combined is $800,000 to $1 million, Monsignor Fay said. Ms. McChesney said she saw her role not as an investigative watchdog, but as someone who would help install sexual abuse prevention programs and audit compliance with the bishops' measures to remove sexually abusive priests. Religious leaders from across Europe at an inaugural meeting of an inter-faith organisation in Oslo have urged Baghdad to comply with United Nations arms inspections and applauded the international body for reaching last week's unanimous agreement on disarming Iraq. The meeting of the religious leaders came the same day that Iraq's parliament spurned the UN demand by voting unanimously against co-operating with the Security Council resolution on disarming Baghdad. "The key question is what ecumenical organisations can usefully do when there's a conflict within their own family," explained Rudiger Noll, director of CEC's Church and Society Commission. We appreciate your concern with the change of programming that was recently made on KWVE in which it was decided by our board to discontinue airing the program, 'Focus on the Family.' This decision was made after prayer and discussion concerning the content of some of their programs. Calvary Chapel purchased KWVE for the purpose of providing inspiring music and Bible studies for the edifying of the Body of Christ, and we felt that the Focus on the Family broadcasts were not always reflecting the kind of content that fit with our primary purpose. It all came to a head with a series of programs Focus broadcast earlier this year. The programs were called, 'Women and Sexuality.' In our opinion these three programs were not appropriate for our general audience. One of the programs was very verbally graphic concerning marital sex. He has grown a large audience in recent years, including many Christians who like his conservative views on many key issues. But recently he has attacked those who say homosexuality is a sin - as the Bible does - and who would oppose such things as giving homosexuals the right to adopt children. He says the religious right has lost influence because they often "base their opinion on what they believe God wants." O'Reilly paralleled people who base their opinion on religious beliefs, and try to impose them on others, to the Taliban terrorists (10/9 AgapePress). He supports gun control, opposes the death penalty, and is said to be an environmentalist at heart. He recently spoke to a convention of "gay and lesbian" journalists. He says it's better to have a child in a stable home, even if it's run by homosexuals, than to be in chaotic foster care (9/17 H.Times). O'Reilly says: "Even if there is no God or Heaven or Hell, I still believe religion is a positive force. My [Roman Catholic] religion is comforting. The video appeared in 1993 and has sold 28.5 million copies. O Timothy editor David Cloud, who reviewed some of the videos, said VeggieTales will draw many Christians to vile movie theaters, will create a taste in children for rock music, and is a dangerous bridge to the world. The movie takes liberties with the biblical storyline. It softens a bit the crimes being forgiven. "While it's clear that the Ninevites do evil, the film asserts that the king of Nineveh didn't know that the things they did were wrong." Be warned, be wise, beware! ----- A PROMISE KEEPERS MEETING Andrew Rupert, Ass't Pastor, Bible Community Church, Mentor, OH attended a Promise Keepers rally in Cleveland in July. He summarized some problems with this ecumenical men's movement under the following subject headings: Rock music, Charismatic atmosphere, A Cloudy Gospel (e.g., by Luis Palau), Confusing Counseling, Dangerous Presumption (re salvation), Charismatic encounter (tongues), Crowd Psychology (dancing), Biker Peter, Off-Color Humor, and Evaluation. Pastor Rupert concludes: "Promise Keepers uses a watered-down Gospel which is designed not to offend. Sometimes the message sounds like the Gospel, but it is carefully tailored not to offend works salvation, baptismal regeneration, tongues-speaking, or extra-biblical revelation, or cults. Even the counseling of seekers is vague and blurred to make men feel accepted without true repentance from sin. Men leave with a false assurance of salvation. [ENI-02-10-21] ----- PROVIDENCE DIOCESE SETTLES 36 ABUSE SUITS PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 9 (AP) The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence said today that it had reached a $13.5 million settlement with 36 people who say members of the clergy molested them as youngsters. The settlement covers all but 2 of 38 men and women who sued in the early 1990's, accusing 11 priests and a nun of abusing them... The diocese said it would seek internal and external financing to cover the cost of the settlement. Earlier this year, lawyers for the plaintiffs asked the diocese for $15 million immediately and $8 million over four years to settle the cases. The diocese's finance council rejected that proposal. For nearly a decade, the diocese refused to turn over documents in the case, citing First Amendment rights to religious freedom. "The church hierarchy became publicly embroiled in a nationwide clamor for reform and for public disclosure of matters relating to priests who sexually assault children," Justice Krause wrote. "Insistence upon disclosure emanated not only from those not associated with the church, but indeed from bishops within the church as well." Lawyers for people who say priests sexually abused them called the ruling a watershed in one of the longest and hardest-fought lawsuits of its kind. The diocese has $97 million in assets, its December financial statement shows, but state law allows the bishop to hold an unlimited amount of land tax-free in his name, with virtually no reporting requirements.
