this ministry. We were Mormons (Temple Mormons) for 20 years.
We prayed to God in 1992 to allow us to do a ministry speaking
out against Scientology. Six months later God led us to the truth:
out of the cult of Mormonism. We did not know at the time we
were in a cult. No-one had witnessed to us in 20 years.
- The Holy Spirit brought us to information about all the cults
and the present development of the New World Order. We began
bringing our research to you. Because all the research was already
done, we decided to build a library within Cephas Ministry. Our
newsletters are not designed to provoke
anger which is strictly prohibited in Scripture. It is to shed
light on activities by those who would deceive those who are
recorded in the Book of Life by devious methods and systematic
plans.

The focus of these newsletters is to prove why we had to leave
the world system. We are called 'Watchmen on the Wall' which
God always had during the Old / New Testament Times.

The church as we knew it, is undergoing disintegration. This
began on a fast track in the early nineteen sixties when the
Catholic Church produced liberal Vatican II to replace Vatican
I.
- The trend since then has been ecumenical which is truly what
the word 'Catholicism' means: a universal religion all
inclusive and multicultural. The Bible calls for a final church
and today's church doesn't resemble what Jesus taught. The Word
of God has undergone many changes to fit the progressive modes.
Many new Bible tranlations have brought confusion. The Bible
calls for a falling away from the truth before
Jesus comes back for His Bride. The true believers are called
'Ekklesia.' Our newsletters prove this fact and prove that the
Bible is true from beginning to end.
- The second section is about globalism
where we bring your attention to the social, political and global
trend, the so called democratizing what is left of the world.
This is a deception since the underlying new world global government
is developed by implementing sustainable development. The
Bible prophesies that there will be ten kings (ten horns), each
king (horn) will receive a region of the world as a reward for
work well done for the Antichrist. This is the reason for the
present development of NAU (The North American Union) as well
as the war in the Middle East. It again proves that we are moving
to closure of the times of the Gentiles prophesied in the Bible.
The end result will not be Democracy but a form of Fascist Communism
(Public/Private Corporations enslaving mankind).
- The third section compliments End Time
teachings because Israel is the time piece of the Biblical Prophecy.
1948 was the beginning of the figtree representing Israel, coming
back to life. Israel was allowed to return to its land. Israel
is the rock upon which the world stumbles and crumbles. We watch
and visit Israel for signs which point to the Tribulation to
confirm that we are moving into that space of time.

- THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN (Proverbs 31:10-31)
- January 8, 2009 David Cloud, wayoflife.org - This book, which
has warned frequently of the danger of the strange woman and
the foolish wife (e.g. Prov. 2:16-19; 5:3-14; 6:24-35; 7:5-27;
9:13-18; 11:22; 14:1; 21:9; 23:27-28; 25:24), concludes with
the glory of the virtuous wife. It is a wonderful token of grace
that this description of the virtuous woman was written by Bathsheba
(assuming, as we do, that it was). She writes that the husband
of the virtuous woman can safely trust in her, yet she betrayed
the trust of her first husband by responding to David’s
sinful invitation. Of course she might have put herself and her
husband in jeopardy by refusing David’s lust, but she would
have kept God’s Law and maintained her honor. Yet God forgave
her sin and she became a prophetess of truth and righteousness
and a spokeswoman for virtue!
- Bathsheba exhorts her son to find a virtuous woman. This
was probably taught to him as he was growing up. That he disobeyed
his mother’s counsel resulted in his terrible backsliding
and the loss of most of the kingdom (1 Kings 11:1-13). This lengthy
description of the virtuous woman teaches us the immense importance
of the godly wife. She is mentioned in many passages of the New
Testament as well (Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:18; 1 Timothy
2:9-15; 3:11; Titus 2:3-5; 1 Peter 3:1-6). “And with good
reason is so much stress laid upon it, since it contributes as
much as any one thing to the keeping up of religion in families,
and the entail of it upon posterity, that the mothers be wise
and good; and of what consequence it is to the wealth and outward
prosperity of a house every one is sensible. He that will thrive
must ask his wife leave” (Matthew Henry). “In choosing
a wife, fools will follow their fancy, and the wise will act

- FELLOWSHIP OF THE BRETHREN

the Greek word, KOINONIA, which means “to share in common.”
Christian fellowship is more than attending worship — it
is “assimilating” into the body of believers, becoming
“one” with a like mind and heart in worshipping, loving,
caring and sharing. According to the scripture, fellowship is
not an optional matter for believers. It says, “if walk
in the light [in fellowship with God]... this causes us to have
fellowship with one another.” And from the outcome of this
fellowship, “the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from
all sin” (1 John 1:7). Therefore it is within the body of
Christ, the Church (1 Cor. 12:27). For the blood of Jesus Christ
to have its continual cleansing effect over our sins, we must
remain attached to a genuine body of believers where the Holy
Spirit is evident. If we sever fellowship with His body, we risk
cutting off the circulation of the cleansing blood!
- Our relationship with Jesus Christ is obviously the basis
for the forgiveness of our sins, but the Bible indicates that
we cannot have a proper relationship with Christ without a proper
relationship with His people. For example, the scriptures indicate
that our worship to God is unacceptable unless we make things
right with an offended brother and sister, even if we are not
the cause of offense. “Therefore if you bring your gift
to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something
against you, “leave your gift there before the altar, and
go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come
and offer your gift” (Matt. 5:23-24). God will not accept
our worship when strife or unresolved issues remain within a
family, His Spirit cannot reside or pass through a heart(s) burdened
with unforgiveness and judgment.
- Not only does the Bible say that “fellowship” is
the evidence of walking in the light (1 John 1:7), but it also
says that “loving the brethren” is evidence of that
walk. “He who loves his brother abides in the light, and
there is no cause for stumbling in him” (1 John 2:10). If
we are walking in wholeness with Christ, our path will not be
marked by hurting others, it cannot. There is a strong, inseparable
relationship between “fellowship” and “loving
the brethren.” Consequently, that fellowship is intended
to be the practice of loving the brethren, which helps keep us
in a right relationship with Christ so that His shed blood can
continue its full cleansing effect. Continued:

- THE BEGINNING OF SORROWS HAS BEGUN
- It is impossible to look at the recent events occurring around
the world and not know that the “beginning of sorrows”
has begun. The preachers loved or at least tolerated on television
are actually walking over truth and denying any connection between
present events and the Bible. They could not be more wrong or
more foolish in their drive to be politically correct. How could
any man of this Blessed Book not connect such apparent Divine
reckoning as evidence of Bible prophecy? Jesus wrote about this
period just before the Seven Years of the Great Tribulation.
He said, “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ;
and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours
of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must
come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines,
and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these
are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:5-8)

- THE LAND WHERE GOD WALKED AS A MAN

November 2008 - hreat read - Part One - ".. The flight to
Amman, Jordan was long and flying coach is not so easy on a crowded
plane with little leg room but who can afford first class seating
anymore? Renee and I did some reading and a lot of sleeping in
flight to make the time pass more smoothly. As we were flying
over the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea on approach to
the Israeli coastline, the Captain makes the announcement that
all passengers must put their seats in an upright position and
fasten their seat belts as we were heading into restricted air
space. I suppose there is always a chance that one's plane could
be targeted by anti-aircraft missiles launched by terrorists
but my faith in God was sufficient to settle my worries about
such possibility. As we began our slow descent from 35,000 feet
we could begin to see the stark contrasts of the vivid blue green
Mediterranean Sea meeting with the coastline of Israel. I suppose
it was for safety's sake that we flew over Israel into Amman,
Jordan because anywhere else might have got us shot down with
Lebanon and Syria to the north and Egypt to the south. We landed
safely in Amman and after extensive security and customs clearing
we boarded our bus and headed for the Radisson SAS Hotel for
dinner and a time of refreshment and relaxation. Renee and I
traveled with Dr. Noah Hutchings from Southwest Radio Church
Ministry and with 46 persons in our group we felt safer than
we would have otherwise traveling alone. This was my second tour
with Noah but it was Noah's 52nd tour to Jordan and Israel and
he has conducted many such Christian tours all over the world
to countries including Turkey, Egypt, Greece and China just to
name a few. Noah likes to boast that he has never lost a tour

pastor Ted Haggard said Friday his sexual identity is complex
and can't be put into "stereotypical boxes," but that
his relationship with his wife is stronger than ever. In an interview
with The Associated Press, Haggard did not rule out a return
to public life or the pulpit. He spoke before he appeared before
TV critics in Los Angeles to promote "The Trials of Ted
Haggard," an HBO documentary on Haggard's exile after his
confession to "sexual immorality" and fall as a top
evangelical leader. "I am guilty. I am responsible,"
Haggard, 52, said Friday in a phone interview. "I got off
track, and I am deeply sorry and I repent ... I'm moving along
in a positive direction." Haggard resigned as president
of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals
and was fired from the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado
Springs, Colo., in November 2006 amid allegations that he paid

January 23, 2009 - DENVER - Disgraced evangelical leader Ted
Haggard's former church disclosed Friday that the gay sex scandal
that caused his downfall extends to a young male church volunteer
who reported having a sexual relationship with Haggard - a revelation
that comes as Haggard tries to repair his public image.
- Brady Boyd, who succeeded Haggard as senior pastor of the
10,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, told The Associated
Press that the man came forward to church officials in late 2006
shortly after a Denver male prostitute claimed to have had a
three-year cash-for-sex relationship with Haggard.
- Boyd said an "overwhelming pool of evidence" pointed
to an "inappropriate, consensual sexual relationship"
that "went on for a long period of time ... it wasn't a
one-time act." Boyd said the man was in his early 20s at
the time. He said he was certain the man was of legal age when
it began. Reached Friday night, Haggard declined to comment and
said all interviews would have to be arranged through a publicist
for HBO, which is airing a documentary about him this month.
Boyd said the church reached a legal settlement to pay the man
for counseling and college tuition, with one condition being
that none of the parties involved discuss the matter publicly.

- CURRENT PASTOR TO DISCUES NEW HAGGARD ANGLE

New Life Church are learning new details about the scandal involving
former pastor Ted Haggard. Current New Life Rev. Brady Boyd informed
New Life congregants in a letter Friday that a young man involved
in the church claims he had a relationship with Haggard prior
to the pastor's departure in late 2006. Boyd will discuss the
issue during services at the church Sunday morning. In published
reports, Boyd said the man, who was in his 20s and a church volunteer
at the time, said he had a sexual relationship with Haggard that
"went on for a long period of time." Colorado Springs
TV station KRDO channel 13 plans to air an interview with the
man Monday night. "I'm confident that New Life is moving
forward in a healthy new direction," Boyd said Saturday
night in a statement.
- "Mr. Haggard has been gone from New Life for two years
and now I am so sorry that this wound, that was almost healed,
has been reopened. I will have to go back to the beginning with
a lot of people in our church and take them through the process
of healing." Haggard was fired from the 10,000-member church

of Christian rock claim that it is a necessary tool for evangelism.
The book Reaching a Generation for Christ, edited by Richard
Dunn and Mark Senter, describes this philosophy: “Contemporary
music is still one of the best tools to build bridges with Christian
kids and one of the best hooks to go fishing for the unsaved.”
I have been investigating Contemporary Christian Music off and
on for 30 years. I have listened to and read the lyrics to hundreds
of songs, visited at least 300 web sites produced by CCM musicians
and their fans, listened to CCM radio stations in various parts
of the country, etc. While there is some gospel preaching done
by CCM artists, this is definitely not the main emphasis. In

the renowned sign of global Catholicism, into EU law as a compulsory
day of rest. Further, observing the current worldwide economic
chaos, he indicated that the only way to establish a sound foundation
for a global economy is through attachment to a religion, the
implication being his “one true church." In addition
to undertaking these initiatives, the pope has, from the earliest
days of his pontificate, strengthened Pope John Paul IIs cry
for Europe to return to its religious and cultural roots, inferring
that is the only way that Europe will regain the unity that it
once knew under the old Holy Roman Empire . Students of biblical
prophecy ought to really make a strong connection between all
of these papal pronouncements, in particular the most recent
decision to become judge and jury over Italian law. These acts
are all part of a masterful plan—one that European elites
have been committed to since the close of World War II: to indeed
resurrect that ancient, ever-reviving institution of the Holy
Roman Empire .
With a goodly number of committed Roman Catholics embedded within
the legal and policy formulation echelons of the European Union,
it is guaranteed that the EU legislative body, the European Parliament,
will now increasingly take note of papal judgments on not only
Italian law, but also, more significantly, EU law.
This latest move by Benedict sets a highly dangerous precedent
for Europe . It is one more step toward the Vatican encouraging
the imposition of a legal system that is destined to not only
control the practice of religion throughout Europe , but also

Calvary Chapel church in Washington state. The church has begun
what is called the "2009 Scripture Meditation Program."
In the January 4th Sunday bulletin, there was an explanation
of the new program, giving a description of lectio divina where
a passage of Scripture is isolated leading eventually to the
isolation of a small phrase or a single word. This word or phrase
is then "meditated" upon. This is classic lectio divina,
a contemplative practice that is often a gateway to "deeper"

- CHUCK BALDWIN:
- In Baldwin's "Recommended Reading for 2009" Baldwin
does something interesting. He not only lists Madame Guyon as
someone he "strongly" recommends and whose writings
are "fantastic," but he challenges those who would
suggest she is a mystic. Thus, we feel we must list his recommendation
as well. We emailed Baldwin this past week and offered him a
copy of A Time of Departing but have not yet heard back.
- A particular statement made by Guyon is very indicative of
what contemplatives believe, and quoting it here can give a good
example of the nature of mysticism. Guyon stated: "May I
hasten to say that the kind of prayer I am speaking of is not
a prayer that comes from your mind. It is a prayer that begins
in the heart.... Prayer that comes out of the heart is not interrupted
by thinking!"
This prayer of the heart that contemplatives such as Richard
Foster teach is a "prayer" that eliminates distractions
(thoughts) through meditative practices such as lectio divina,
centering, etc. If a word or phrase is repeated or the breath
focused upon, a type of self-hypnosis is achieved and the mind
is rendered to a neutral state (the alpha state). But no where
in Scripture are we instructed to produce a mystical state in
order to hear God's voice. On the contrary, divination (seeking
to contact the spirit world through self-induced mystical means)is
strictly warned against.
- Keep in mind that the "fruit" of practicing contemplative
prayer is a change in spiritual outlook. That change comes in
the form of believing that God is in all things. All the "great"
mystics have believed this. It is the heart of Satan's lie because
if he can convince man that he is divine, then he can convince
him he needs no Savior.
- In a small obscure booklet Lighthouse Trails was given, written
by Mrs. Jessie Penn-Lewis titled Life out of Death: A Brief Summary
of Madame Guyon's "Spiritual Torrents," the last section
of the book, after laying out the various stages of contemplative
spirituality, is called "God All in All." Here Mrs.
Penn-Lewis tells readers that this "Divine Union" is
the outcome of Guyon's "contemplative prayer." Penn-Lewis
states: "Here all is God; God is everywhere, and in all
things." The Appendix following examines in further detail

of one of the polls on Jan. 12.
The Bible teaches that there are sound and unsound doctrines.
It also warns that there will come a time when people reject
sound doctrine and instead choose only teachings they desire.
Those who reject the essential doctrines of the Christian faith
attempt to make Christianity into something it is not. In following
and promoting heresy they place themselves outside of the Christian
faith.
Christianity is not a ’salad bar’ or ‘cafeteria’
religion, where people pick and choose your own beliefs, doctrines
and practices.

about an atheist advertising campaign in Great Britain that uses
buses.
- Paris - It's the first mass marketing of atheism in Britain
– and many in the community of faith say that's just fine.
- On Jan. 6 some 800 British red "bendy" buses carried
the sign: "There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and
enjoy your life."
- The Atheist Bus Campaign organizer, a young comedienne named
Ariane Sherine, took exception last June to several London buses
swathed with biblical quotes, placed by Christian fundamentalists.
- Her idea to fund a few challenge ads took off; donors sent
in $200,000 in two days. Ms. Sherine was joined by Oxford zoologist
Richard Dawkins, a leading British atheist and author of "The
God Delusion." He predicted anger from believers. "They
have to take offense, it is the only weapons they've got,"
Mr. Dawkins said as the first bus rolled through the streets
of London. "They've got no arguments." But the response
by most faith leaders isn't quite what was expected.
- Religious institutes, church pastors, and divinity school
professors have not treated the ads with Old Testament wrath,
but with a relatively open mind and even embrace of so important
an issue.
- If Socrates said the unexamined life is not worth living,
they say, the ads remind that an unexamined faith is not a real
faith, and people need to think, and even pray, more deeply.
"The campaign will be a good thing if it gets people to
engage with the deepest questions of life," says the Rev.
Jenny Ellis, Spirituality and Discipleship Officer of Britain's
Methodist church. "Many people simply never think about
God or religion as a serious question, and if this prods them
a little bit, then that's great," says the Rev. Stephen
Wang, of the Westminster diocese of the Roman Catholic church.
Moreover, in a secular post-cold-war world, where godless communism
is said to be replaced by godless consumerism, a declaration
of atheism is hardly a renegade position, some theologians say.

- I don't know why I am getting all these emails about pre-tribbers
as I am one of those believers. God bless that poor girl who
is so full of vitriol twords her fellow brothers and sisters
in Christ. Has she forgotten what the second commandment says?
We are supposed to be known by our love one for another. But
Satan has been working through Christians for 2,000 years. Plus
ca change. I have a BSc. and an MA in Business. I also have a
degree in Theology and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Christian
Literature a couple of years ago because of the research in my
last book , "The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse".
I have written 3 books two of which were bestsellers. My books
are designed to win souls for the Lord. I also am Managing Director
of my own company which has been quite successful here in Dublin.
I had an epipheny 33 years ago when Jesus revealed Himself to
me. Since then I have won quite a few people to the Lord and
the Word in my latest book continues to do that (see email below
received today).
I find it patronising in the extreme to have fellow believers
tell me I cannot read the Scriptures and do not know how to rightly
divide the Word. And I have no interest in debating the topic.
My job is to win souls for the Lord. I don't have time to waste
with folks whose minds are already made up on whatever subject.
So start loving one another and find a soul to win for Jesus
and we will see in due course who is right and who is wrong on
the timing of the gathering together of the saints.
About 12 years ago I did believe that we were to go through the
Tribulation. For about three weeks I couldn't sleep and was full
of fear for my wife and three daughters. But I was challenged
by those scriptures which insist "we are saved from the
coming wrath" and by the words of Jesus himself in John
14, so I lost my fear and my heart is now comforted. I think
I finally understand what the parable of the ten wise and ten
unwise virgins means. There is going to be a brutal torture and
slaughter of Christians during the coming Apocalypse. I recently
copied the whole of the Book of Revelation out long hand in order
to get a better feel for the book. In doing so I got an insight
to the horror these saints will go through. These, I believe,
are the unwise virgins.
I am half way through my fourth book called "The Return
of the Antichrist", and no, it's not Barack Obama. He is
named nine times in Revelation as "the beast that ascends
out of the bottomless pit" and his name and present whereabouts
are given in Revelation 9, if people are bothered to find out
and believe what the Word says rather than what they themselves
think.
I will leave you with the words of Jesus Himself. Please note
his opening phrase: "Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many
rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there
to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me
that you also may be where I am..."

First of all I thank God that your book was sent my way. I'm
searching for God and I'm glad that your book has come way in
these critical times. I have received your book from my neighbor,
I could not put your book down. Even though it scared me at first
, it opened my eyes in so many things I didn't understand or
paid attention to before. I would like to say that I'm left with
great hope that it might not me to late for me to become saved,
that I'm searching and praying to God to open my eyes and ears.
Your book left me thinking, and reading the bible. You have written
this book in 2004, I wonder with all the events that have happened
so far, and the election of Obama, what are your views on the
Situation now. I would like to tell you, that I was a great Obama
Supporter until very shortly. (I'm German married to an US Soldier,
living currently in the US) While I was reading your book, chills
came over me, and a oice in my head stated that Obama is the
Anti-Christ. I wasn't even finished reading your book, while
more and more Information regarding Obama being the Anti-Christ
came my way without me even searching. So I thought while I'm
sitting here having these thoughts, why not write you an email,
and share my thoughts with you. I know that these things can't
be changed and need to happen, still it is scaring me. Your interpretation
of the New World Order he will try to bring over Amerika..it
is in the news..he said that himself, the mark of the beats (microchips)
it is in the news..I know you are probably a real busy man, I
would appreciate to hear back from you, if you have scripture
or other things I should read that you can think of, please send

and said, "We’re here to evolve to a higher plane.
She also said he is a “force for peace who can break down

Pop singer/actress Jennifer Lopez gushed, "WASHINGTON NEVER
HAD A BIGGER ROCK STAR AT THE HELM; he is just too good."

is a rock star because he represents moral relativism, corrupt
Christianity and anti-Biblicism (he denies the infallibility
of Scripture, hates dogma, rejects the doctrine of hell and salvation
through Christ alone), and New Age mysticism (we can create a
new world through our own divine-tinged initiative and the power
of positive thinking). We are rushing on to the end of the age,
but it is not time to hide in a hole and stockpile food; it’s

2006, the deeply confused bishop said: "I don’t think
Hell exists. I happen to believe in life after death, but I don’t
think it has a thing to do with reward and punishment. Religion
is always in the control business. ... The church doesn’t
like for people to grow up, because you can’t control grownups.
That’s why we talk about being born again. When you’re
born again, you’re still a child. People don’t need
to be born again; they need to grow up. They need to accept their
responsibility for themselves and the world." In his 1991
book "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism, Spong said:
Am I suggesting that these stories of the virgin birth are not
literally true? The answer is a simple and direct ‘Yes.’
Of course these narratives are not literally true. Stars do not
wander, angels do not sing, virgins do not give birth, magi do
not travel to a distant land to present gifts to a baby, and
shepherds do not go in search of a newborn savior." A denomination
that allows even one preacher to hold heresies and blasphemies
like this without discipline doesn’t deserve to be called
Christian, and the Episcopal Church in America has been allowing

said that the God that Warren prays to is not the God that I
know and that he would pray in the name of an idol he calls the

National Public Radio, Jan. 13, 2009). This is further evidence
of Rick Warren’s deep spiritual compromise. It might be
Barack Obama’s job to be the president of every citizen
(which tells me he shouldn’t have chosen one of the most
polarizing men in America, a man who is helping to destroy an
entire denomination, to lead in prayer), but as a preacher, Rick
Warren’s job is to preach God’s Word in the midst of
an evil and an adulterous generation, not to speak politically-correct
gobbledygook. He should have spoken out plainly that V. Gene
Robinson is not qualified to be a bishop. In fact, as an unrepentant
moral pervert who broke his marriage vows to live carnally with
a man, he isn’t qualified even to be a church member. The
members of the church at Corinth had been all sorts of sinners
before they were saved, but they had repented and been converted.

to a holy God is beyond my ability to comprehend. "I beseech

- THE MYSTICAL POWER OF ROCK & ROLL

just music. It is a philosophy. It is a way of life. It is a
religion. It is a mystical power that captures hearts and souls.
It is the background music of end-time apostasy. The book Rock
Facts, published by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
in Cleveland, Ohio, says that "rock and roll refers to an
attitude, a feeling, a style, a way of life" (Rock Facts,
1996, p. 7). I was reminded of this from an article called "Eight
Commonly Misinterpreted Songs" by Vicki Santillano. The
author gives examples of how listeners often misinterpret the
message of pop songs, being so influenced by the powerful rhythm,
the emotional impact, and the social context that they ignore
the actual meaning of the words and in fact give the songs a
meaning in their hearts that is the opposite of what the authors
intended. She says, "Because many of us use music as an
outlet for our deepest feelings, we are often shocked when the
meanings that we have given to certain songs prove false. ...
All too often, we find out that the songs we put on mix tapes
for our crushes, or those we listen to on repeat in the midst
of bad breakups, were written from a completely different view."
For example, the song "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce
Springsteen has often been used in patriotic contexts, but in
reality it was a protest against the Vietnam War. The Police’s
song "Every Breath You Take" and the Dave Matthews
Band’s "Crash into Me" aren’t about romance;
they’re about stalkers and peeping toms. Santillano says
that pop music is "an outlet for our deepest feelings."
As B.J. Thomas sang in 1969, rock music is about being "hooked
on a feeling." To live by one’s feelings rather than
objective truth is the heart of mysticism. It is also a recipe
for spiritual deception. "Be sober, be vigilant; because
your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking

- BAPTISTS DIALOGUING WITH MUSLIMS

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, the American Baptist Churches
USA, and other liberal groups conducted a dialogue with Muslims
at the Islamic Center of Boston January 9-11. The participants
wanted to correct the 'false' thinking of Baptist leaders such
as Franklin Graham who called Islam 'an evil and wicked religion'
and past SBC President Jerry Vines who called Mohammed 'a demon-
possessed pedophile' (Associated Baptist Press, Jan. 13, 2009).
Sayyid Syeed, national interfaith director of the Islamic Society
of North America said that 'well-meaning Muslims and Baptists'
can work together and contribute to injustice and tyranny around
the globe.' It is not those few who are preaching God’s
Word faithfully that are giving Baptists a bad name. It is the
unconverted compromisers who don’t have enough biblical
conviction and personal salvation to care about the fact that
Muslims and all others are going to hell if they die without
Christ. If they preached that, you can be sure that their dialogue
agenda would collapse. God has called His people to preach the
light, not dialogue with darkness. "Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness
with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he
that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple
of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as
God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I
will be their God, and they shall be my people" (2 Corinthians

to promote world peace through religious harmony has been launched.
This one is called The Charter for Compassion. The centerpiece
of the program is a web site where "people of all faiths"
are invited to "contribute their words and stories."
These will be crafted into the final version of the Charter by
a "council of sages" composed of New Agers such as
the Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Catholic mystic nun Joan
Chittister (who says we must get "in tune with the cosmic
voice of God"), and Joan Brown Campbell, former general
secretary of the National Council of Churches in America. The
resulting Charter will then be signed by religious leaders of
all faiths at an inaugural event. You can be sure that they will
ignore any “stories” by born-again, Bible-believing
Christians! The myriad of interfaith projects like the Charter
for Compassion that are operating around the world are not harmless.
Eventually they will bring persecution to Bible believers who
are looked upon as harmful to the cause of world peace because

- CREMATION GAINING IN FAVOR
November 28, 2008, www.wayoflife.org - An article in the Associated
Baptist Press in 2001 observed that "as cremation becomes
more popular in the United States, fewer people are asking serious
theological questions about the practice." The article cited
Baptist ministers Bob Beck and Leroy Summers of the Dallas-Fort
Worth, Texas, area, who said they hear no theological objections
to cremation these days. This reflects a dramatic change in American
society. As recently as World War II, people were excommunicated
from the Roman Catholic Church for cremation. In 1913, the year
the Cremation Association of America was formed, there were only
10,000 cremations. By 1999, the number had risen to 595,000 cremations
or 25% of deaths, and by 2005 it was 778,000 or 31%. Our article
"Cremation: What Does God Think" lists 10 biblical
reasons to reject cremation: (1) Cremation has a heathen origin
and purpose. (2) God’s people have always practiced burial
(Gen. 23:1-4; 25:8-10; 35:19-20; 49:33; 50:26, etc.). (3) Even
when burial was difficult God’s people practiced it (Gen.
50:24-25; Ex. 13:19; Josh. 24:32). (4) Burial looks forward to
resurrection (Rom. 8:22-23; 1 Cor. 15:20-23, 51-57). (5) God
practices burial (Deut. 34:5-6). (6) Cremation is a sign of God’s
curse (Num. 16:35, etc.). (7) For a person not to have proper
burial was a dishonor (1 Ki. 21:23-24; Psa. 83:9-10). (8) The
Christian’s body belongs to God (1 Cor. 6:19-20). (9) God
calls cremation wickedness (Amos 2:1). (10) Jesus was buried

January 23, 2009 - WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama on Friday
struck down the Bush administration's ban on giving federal money
to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion
information - an inflammatory policy that has bounced in and
out of law for the past quarter-century. Obama's move, the latest
in an aggressive first week reversing contentious Bush policies,
was warmly welcomed by liberal groups and denounced by abortion
rights foes. The ban has been a political football between Democratic
and Republican administrations since GOP President Ronald Reagan
first adopted it 1984. Democrat Bill Clinton ended the ban in
1993, but Republican George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001
as one of his first acts in office. .. The Bush policy had banned
U.S. taxpayer money, usually in the form of Agency for International
Development funds, from going to international family planning
groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling
or referrals about abortion as a family planning method. Critics
have long held that the rule unfairly discriminates against the

in abortion but also work on other aspects of reproductive health

- January 6, 2009 - AUSTIN - The Trans-Texas Corridor is dead.
Amadeo Saenz Jr., executive director of the Texas Department
of Transportation, admitted as much on Tuesday when he unveiled
a new plan for handling future cross-state traffic in Texas.
The new plan is known as Innovative Connectivity in Texas/Vision
2009. It's like a much leaner, more restricted version of the
Trans-Texas Corridor plan, which was originally unveiled by Gov.
Rick Perry in 2001. The Trans-Texas Corridor became a magnet
for controversy during the 2006 governor's race. Opponents accused
Perry and state transportation officials of planning to ram tolls
down Texans' throats, seize private property for the profit of
foreign corporations and even use the road to undermine U.S.
sovereignty by creating a North American Union with Mexico and
Canada. So, in making their announcement Tuesday state transportation
officials are closing that chapter in Texas history. They really
didn't have much choice. State legislators have been warning
them for two years that the Trans-Texas Corridor plan was all

- Stefan Friedman, a spokesman for Caroline Kennedy, confirmed
late Wednesday evening that she has, in fact, withdrawn her name

has bought more than $1 trillion of American debt, but as the
global downturn has intensified, Beijing is starting to keep
more of its money at home, a move that could have painful effects
for American borrowers. The declining Chinese appetite for United
States debt, apparent in a series of hints from Chinese policy
makers over the last two weeks, with official statistics due
for release in the next few days, comes at an inconvenient time.
On Tuesday, President-elect Barack Obama predicted the possibility
of trillion-dollar deficits “for years to come,” even
after an $800 billion stimulus package. Normally, China would
be the most avid taker of the debt required to pay for those
deficits, mainly short-term Treasuries, which are government
i.o.u.’s. In the last five years, China has spent as much
as one-seventh of its entire economic output buying foreign debt,

judges to dictate new mortgage terms. Easy, except the lenders
that would absorb the pain - and lose control of any deals to
ease the terms - do not want to get dragged into bankruptcy court
by millions of overextended borrowers.Butler, 40, is a laid-off
General Motors worker who has filed for bankruptcy. But the bankruptcy
court has no authority to change the terms of his $90,000-plus
mortgage that is more than double the value of his home.A bill
to give judges authority to alter loan terms for primary residences
may be the quickest way to arrest the housing market's collapse.
Most Democrats in the House and Senate support that plan. President
Barack Obama told Democratic leaders Friday he also backs it,

is a rapidly emerging field of science and technology that will
have a pronounced impact on the future of all aspects of electronics,
said Dr K V Rao, scientist, the Royal Institute of Technology,
Sweden. Talking to the Times of India, the physicist said conventional
electronics are based on the charge of the electron. Attempts
to use the other fundamental property of an electron, its spin,
have given rise to a new, rapidly evolving field, known as Spintronics,
an acronym for spin transport electronics. He said conventional
electronics is exploitation of electrons in a conducting material.
"For the same number of electrons, if you exploit the spin
of each electron the same unit becomes multipurpose. And that
is the basics. Say, if you have eight electrons and have control
over its spin, then each has two states. This opens up huge number
of possibilities in terms of permutation and combinations. If
you can read them and write them it is your super computer,''
he said. Regarding exploiting the full capabilities of Spintronics,
Rao said it might take 10 years before its full potential is
unlocked. "These type of numbers are difficult to say. All
you need is one breakthrough and you have reduced the growth
period by many years,'' he observed.
- Regarding the research in nano particles, Rao said advances
have been made in the sense that we know how to use nano particles
for a given application and learn better methods of combining
nano, organizing them to give meaningful properties and so on.
"In some areas, the progress of nano is fast like in the
case of Light Emitting Diode (LED),'' he said. "That's one
major commercial project. In another 10 years LED is supposed
to replace incandescent bulbs. That means no losses in heating,
which means more efficiency and conservation of power,'' he added.
He noted that nano has not created new technologies but only
improved performance. "Currently the focus is on medical
applications. As in coating (painting etc) technology it has
had far greater applications. In the thin film and electronic
area, it has been in a continuous process of flow. Growth rate
is supposed to doubling every 18 months,'' he noted adding that
rapid strides in nano had made storage of information on a chip
much cheaper than on paper. Regarding the next big thing in science,
Rao said it all depends upon supply and demand. "Science
it is per se nano. It is a versatile subject. Its impact on bio-applications
like implants, memory devices will be huge,'' he added. But,
at the same time, he says that no nano machine is better than
a good operating human -- but as far as efficiency is concerned
nano machines will play a greater role.

At the time, Shapiro, now 95, was doing a lot of arbitrage. "In
those days, it took three weeks to complete a sale," Shapiro
said. "This kid stood in front of me and said 'I can do
it in three days.' And he did." Shapiro gave him a check
for $100,000, "and he did very well with it. That was the
beginning."

one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the nation
and a major contributor to a host of local causes, has announced
that its assets once totaling nearly $1 billion were wiped out
in the alleged investment scheme run by Bernard Madoff. Barbara
Picower, who started the foundation in 1989 with her investor
husband, Jeffry Picower, on Friday e-mailed the many charities
she supported to tell them she has no money left to give. The
foundation, which was based in Palm Beach, will stop writing
grants immediately and will soon shut down. The Picower Foundation
appears to be the largest group to date ruined by an alleged
Ponzi scheme that went on for decades and may total $50 billion
in losses. It was one of the wealthiest foundations in Florida
and the 71st largest in the nation, according to the Council
on Foundations. The money was invested with Madoff, Barbara Picower
said in a statement, and his "act of fraud has had a devastating
impact on tens of thousands of lives as well as numerous philanthropic

with nanometres (nm), they are one millionth of a millimetre.
To appreciate this more easily, a human hair is about 80 000
nanometres in diameter; red blood cells are about 5 000-nm across;
the AIDS virus is approximately 100-nm long; and DNA is less
than 3 nm. At the nano-scale, properties change and the reason
for this can be understood if one considers a cube of just about
any substance, which would have one in 10 million of the atoms
on the surface. However, for a one-nanometre cube, 80 percent
of the atoms are on the surface. This increased surface area
can be beneficial for many technologies and products. For several
years now, car exhaust catalysts have relied on nanotechnology
