Editor's Note: We highly recommend a set of tapes "The Rise
of Orwellian Doublespeak in the Last Days" which helps explain
some of the processes we are experiencing during the Democratic,
Republican and Reformed platforms. We are not in the business
of swinging votes because our answers are not in man made kingdoms.
We are in business of education and keeping people abreast with
the final endtime church and state as one final antichrist entity,
which will lead us directly to the Second Coming of our Savior,
Christ Jesus. The present developments are described in the Bible
and it is very exciting to watch Biblical prophecy coming into
fruition. The Rise of Orwellian Doublespeak comes from a book
written in 1984 which pinpoints what is happening to our language
and how it is being used for mind control. We don't have it advertised
yet because we can't keep up with what is going on but if you
are interested we'll make you a copy of the two tapes for $6
plus $1.50 for shipping in US and $5 overseas. We are in process
of getting Visa, which is on board but not set up yet. Our address
is Cephas Ministry Inc. PO Box 1239, Zephyrhills, FL 33539
NOW why might these tapes help us understand? We talked about
the pre-convention meetings for the Republican Party in the last
newsletter and kept notes of the issues, which were brought forward.
One issue was the NWO and what it should be called to make people
believe that the Republicans are distancing themselves from the
NWO. Governor Bush recommended a new term, which the delegates
did not think, would make it believable. They decided on a new
one and voted it in. "Principled American leadership"
was chosen as the new slogan for New World Order. Look what came
up right after the Republican Convention. We have written about
Senator Jesse Helms and his confrontations with the United Nations,
which do not line up with the following article. To see that
article about Senator Helms go to the http://www.cephas-newsletter.net/1_00_UN_JHelms.html
- He later apologized to the UN and told them that he would help
reform the United Nations. The issue was money. The US has not
paid their dues over a billion dollars. Senator Helms pointed
out that the wars had cost the US many billions in one year and
that the US should get credit for that. Here is an excerpt from
that page to give you some background on the following article.
"President Clinton signed into law December 10, 1998, Executive
Order 13107 the implementation of Human Rights Treaties [with
the United Nations]. Obligations of the United States pursuant
to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights..
all forms of racial discrimination.. implementation of Human
Rights Obligations.. promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
It shall be the policy and practice of Government of the U.S.
to promote respect for international human rights.. including
strengthening the various international mechanism for the promotion
of human rights, including, inter alia, those of the United Nations,
the International Labor Organization and the Organization of
American States... Human Rights Inquiries and Complaints.. fall
within its areas of responsibility, referring it to the appropriate
agency for response.
Section (c) (iv) developing effective mechanisms to ensure that
legislation proposed by the Administration is reviewed for conformity
with international human rights obligations.. by Congress as
well... Section 5. (c) The term "treaty obligations"
shall mean treaty obligations as approved by the Senate pursuant
to Article II, section 2, clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution...
It's too late Senator Helms, it's a done deal. Alan Keyes is
correct when he stated that our freedom is a thing of the past.
It is while we are under the United Nations. God's promises a
better deal to all who want to participate:

- "ORWELLINIAN" PRINCIPLED
AMERICAN LEADERSHIP
-
- THURSDAY AUGUST 3 2000 PHILADELPHIA CONVENTION Platform holds
U.N. at arm's length Republicans plot new course for relationship
with world body by Mary Jo Anderson © 2000 WorldNetDaily.com
-
PHILADELPHIA -- Stating boldly that the United Nations can exercise
"no veto over principled American leadership" and that
"American troops must never serve under United Nations command,"
the GOP platform
unveiled in Philadelphia this week describes a very different
view of the relationship between the United States and the United
Nations than that of the Clinton-Gore administration.
[EDNote: The reason the UN cannot exercise "no veto over
"principled American leadership" is true. Principled
American leadership is the new slogan for New World Order. Governor
Bush told the news media in an interview Saturday that he would
send troops overseas if they had an adequate reason to send troops.
He did not say that they do not plan to continue the present
involvements ]
While acknowledging that the United Nations can organize humanitarian
aid efforts and serve as a "forum for nations to peacefully
resolve their differences," the Republican platform stipulates
that the U.N. was "not designed to summon or lead armies."
Other specific issues addressed by the platform include the jurisdiction
of the International Criminal Court, US dues payments to the
UN, environmental treaties and US funding of international programs
providing abortion as
part of health care. [EDnote: who has agreed to international
healthcare?]
Sen. Jesse Helms, R-N.C., an outspoken critic of the International
Criminal Court, and Sen.Ashcroft, R-Mo., have raised concerns
about the incompatibility of the ICC's jurisdiction and the constitutional
rights of Americans, particularly
military personnel. The statute for the creation of the International
Criminal Court was established July 17,1998, in Rome.
According to John L.Washburn, co-chairman of the Washington Working
Group on the International Criminal Court, the Republican platform
provision on the ICC is "based on a misconception."
A coalition of 15 non-governmental organizations, the Washington
Working Group is an educational and advocacy body whose efforts
are aimed at U.S. congressmen. Washburn, a graduate of Harvard
Law School, has served in the United States Foreign Service and
in the office of the Secretary General of the
United Nations under Javier Perez de Cuellar. He points out that
the assumption "implicit in the GOP platform is that the
ICC would have jurisdiction over the U.S. government or military
personnel as a group." Another
misconception, he said, is that nations that are not a party
to the treaty would fall under the venue of the ICC. Instead,
he said, the ICC incorporates the Nuremberg Principle that prosecutes
individuals.
"At issue is not the nationality," he said, "but
the person's individual responsibility for the very worst of
international crimes." Others, however, disagree, claiming
non-party nations would not be beyond the reach of the ICC. Kenneth
Gallant, professor of Law at the University of Arkansas School
of Law, explains,
"If a non-signatory nation refuses to cooperate, a case
can be brought to the Court by the UN Security Council under
Chapter VII of the UN Charter. By virtue of their membership
in the UN -- and nearly every nation is a member -- states and
their citizens are subject to a case brought to the ICC by the
Security Council." The US veto power on the Security Council
is also considered an insufficient safeguard in light of current
discussions about ending the veto power altogether.
Although most Americans believe International Criminal Court
prosecutions will be reserved for war crimes, an official UN
information brochure says otherwise: "A decision has yet
to be made as to whether the definition of crimes against humanity
contained in the Statute will also include such acts when committed
in
peacetime. In this regard, the Yugoslavia Tribunal stated, 'It
is by now a settled rule of customary international law that
crimes against humanity do not require a connection to international
armed conflict.' "
Those concerned with American sovereignty issues point to a concern
for how terms are defined. The crimes under the International
Criminal Court's domain include genocide and "crimes against
humanity," "aggression," "sexual slavery"
and "enforced pregnancy." The ICC treaty, which will
have the power to enforce
UN-mandated social policies worldwide, was greeted by United
Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan as "a giant step forward
in the march towards universal human rights and the rule of law."
But Richard G. Wilkins, professor of law at Brigham Young University,
warns that "malleable definitions" and disagreements
about what constitutes "human rights" are areas of
significant dispute.
The GOP platform acknowledges some of those areas in its pledge
to "protect the rights of families in international programs
and [we] will not fund organizations involved in abortions."
Pamela Shifman serves as co-executive director of the New York-based
Equality Now, an advocacy group that "supports the United
Nations international human rights efforts for women, such as
the Beijing [conference] and Beijing+5 process."
Shifman's organization, an NGO at the United Nations, is "strongly
supportive of the establishment of an International Criminal
Court" and sees the UN as a "mechanism important to
the advocacy of the human rights agenda." While Equality
Now was "very glad to see the GOP specifically mention sex
trafficking
[as a crime], we were very disappointed that they [GOP platform]
will not fund abortions, because that hurts millions of women
around the world."
Other issues in the platform that draw a new Republican vision
of the U.S.-U.N. relationship include the prickly matter of dues
owed by the United States to the U.N., as well as matters of
stewardship over the environment. On the dues question, the platform
calls for a "fair, not disproportionate share of the dues,"
to be paid to the UN, "once it has reformed its management
and taken steps to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse." The
moneys the US has contributed toward peacekeeping missions would
also be credited toward US dues.
The GOP opposition to UN control of the global environment is
a strongly worded provision: "We reject the extremist call
for the United Nations to create a 'Stewardship Council' modeled
on the Security Council, to oversee the global environment."
The platform cites attempts of "international bureaucrats"
to "by-pass" the "processes of national governments."
Gregory Gronbacher of the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Acton Institute
cites international accords on environmental issues, such as
the Kyoto protocols, as an example of UN attempts to control
how nations use their resources. An educational foundation, the
Institute advises religious leaders on the moral importance of
limited government and a free market economy. Gronbacher, Acton's
director of academic research, observes, "The Clinton administration
has signed treaties that many Americans are not comfortable with.
Some of the UN conference and treaty requirements are morally
problematical with the founding principles of our nation."..

There was a big article in the paper yesterday about a group
of scientists claiming that they broke the speed of light barrier,
and that a wave of light they shot across a chamber, disappeared
out of the chamber even before it finished entering. One of the
most significant quotes in the article, however, was that one
of the scientists now claims that this will enable them to go
back and change things in history!!!
Of course, the only thing that Satan would like to change in
History is that little Resurrection incident. Makes me think
of the verse in Daniel where the Antichrist will seek to "change
the times". [Source: S email group ]

Take a look, if you have it at the Tyndale Publishers ALMANAC
OF THE CHRISTIAN WORLD (copyright 1992 by Edith Draper), 1993-1994
Edition (as far as I know, this was the last one published).
On pages 347-348, at the conclusion of "Chronology of World
Evangelization from AD 30 to 1990, there
is a "Possible future scenarios with plans". The plan
(as in "The Plan with a capital P???) for the year 2008
reads as follows:
"Global church research project to determine which major
events or situations in past history of evangelization should
be changed by messages or messengers sent from today, as soon
as science invents method of
otachyonic time travel and alteration of the past; preference
for rectifying the great missed opportunities of Christian history
(as with China in 1266, 1644, 1843)."
Isn't it just FASCINATING to know that the Theosophists and the
"Evangelicals" had the same 'holy city' of Wheaton,
Illinois (population est'd 57,000 as of 1990 census)?! Not to
mention maybe, er, the same, er
'inspiring' spirits with the same message.
Truly, HE SHALL THINK TO CHANGE TIMES AND LAWS.

- GLOBALIZATION
"State of the World Forum"
To Advance A Global Governance for Everyone! International leaders
from government, business and civil society will meet in New
York for seven days in September to muse about mankind and his
future. Founded in 1995 by former Soviet Communist leader Mikhail
Gorbachev, the "State of the World Forum" meets regularly
to advance a bundle of mostly far left ideas... Three main principles
drive the State of the World Forum; "ecological sustainability"
as opposed to the "generation of wealth," "global
governance"
What is most striking about the Forum is the long list of international
heavyweights who participate. Even conservatives have turned
up, such as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher,
former US National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brezinski, and new
Mexican President Vincente Fox. Sprinkled with world leaders
has been a large number of New Age proponents, including author
Marianne Williamson, guru Deepok Chopra, and "mythologist"
Jean Houston.
The seven-day meeting beginning in New York on September 4 is
intended to coincide with a number of other important conferences
attached to the United Nations. The UN will convene a Millennium
Summit of up 150 heads of state and the World Peace Summit of
religious and spiritual leaders meets just before the Forum begins.
This State of the World Forum will address "Shaping Globalization:
Convening the Community of Stakeholders." Forum organizers
contend the violent riots that occurred during the last meeting
of the World Trade Organization in Seattle last December highlighted
"the inadequacies of the current system of global governance."
Speakers include Earth Council Institute Chairman Maurice Strong,
UN Population Fund Executive Director Nafis Sadik, and Haitian
President Jean Bertand-Aristide.
The Forum will feature major sessions on business, children,
education, sustainable development, globalization, global governance,
global security, health, science and spirituality, and social
development...
At some point it is likely that large new programs and new laws
will evolve from the State of the World Forum and other such
bodies. [ewtn]
As the EU matures and the 15 member governments expand its authority,
Europeans from Stockholm to Udine - Colombia's hometown - have
been surprised and at times upset to find its officials nosing
into what they can eat, how they travel, even how they incinerate
their trash.. The EU has increasingly become a force for social
regulation. It is now trying to find the common ground in its
15 societies and develop rules for behavior that cross ethnic
and national boundaries. Many Italians strongly support the EU,
welcoming it as filling the vacuum left by the country's notoriously
weak central government.

June 26 at Summit 2000 to sign the United Religions Initiative

world religion - a counterpart to the UN. The URI Charter begins:
"We, people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions
and indigenous traditions throughout the world, hereby establish
the United Religions Initiative to promote enduring, daily interfaith
cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence, and to create
cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all

CONGRESSMEN: DRUGS, CHINA, TERRORISM IN PANAMA
The U.S. surrender of the Panama Canal has borne bitter fruit,
two congressmen charge, and America is paying the price in the
increase of drug trafficking, narco-terrorism and Chinese infiltration
of Panama and control of the canal. And in a recent case, two
United States investigators seeking to unravel the stunning abandonment
of tens of millions of dollars worth of American military equipment
left behind when the U.S. left Panama were ordered out of the
country by the U.S. ambassador before they could complete their
work.
http://www.newsmax.com/articles/?a=2000/8/7/210938
Watching the meetings about the Democratic policies, there were
some interesting ones to watch. There were two in particular,
a young female lawyer who heads an organization called TRADEWATCH
- www.tradewatch.org . and Queen Noor of Jordan who is an activist
in "Women Waging Peace."
Lets begin with Queen Noor of Jordan. She said, "never before
have women held so much power as today.. "there is an increased
feminization of the world of politics.. global peace is linked
to the empowerment of women.. " Her slogan is: equity, understanding
and peace. She parrots Pope Paul's plea for reconciliation of
religions.
A lady from Mexico shared that the church [Catholic Church] is
very involved in the peace process. Another woman encouraged
others to read the Koran which is called basic education for
women. She claimed that women are abused because they don't know
what is in the Koran.
Queen Noor added that she is from the land of three Abrahamic
religions and that through education and active engagement all
religions can reach fundamental common ground. Interfaith institutions
are very active in the peace movement. She boasted that Islam
has proven profitable for fundamental rights for women in marriage
such the prenuptial agreements and it has strengthening principles
to build confidence in women.
Women should become active in unifying the children of Abraham,
which is an enormous challenge. She is a committed Muslim who
reads the Koran in times of stress. She was a guest at Harvard
University, [the UN think tank], New York. She is very much admired
by women all over the world. She may try to fill the vacancy
in Princess Diane's slot and would be just as dangerous in influencing
Christian women into the wrong direction.
FREE TRADE IS A FREE FOR ALL RACE TO THE BOTTOM
Before we get into the meat of the WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION for
those who are new on the list, we have information about this
subject on the website. To understand this information you have
to know that the World Trade Organization was originally created
by the United States but has since been taken over by people
who are unknown to them, so they said in the committee meetings.
That was one of the complaints. There was no access and no accountability.
The United Nations was created by the US to keep the world from
falling apart when the nuclear weaponry came on the scene.
The reason given by the committee that was given a chance to
pull out of the WTO by an amendment, was that it would be embarrassing
to pull out at this point because we created it and second, that
we would risk losing out economically. We could end up excluded
from the market altogether. Check the Treaty by the European
Union and the Southern Common Market if you are interested in
more information about this, to see how many countries are included
in that group http://www.cephasministry.com/nwo_eu_treaty.html
Now into the second discussion at a Jewish temple in LA included
Jesse Jackson's son and other interesting activists. One young
female lawyer was particularly hyper addressing NAFTA and the
WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION. We have dealt with WTO at Cephas Ministry.
We watched a committee of House Representatives in the White
House voting for it when they should have voted against it. This
young lady pointed out what is wrong with NAFTA and WTO.
She stated that there was no input to these documents from anyone
outside of the large corporations. In other words large corporations
created the documents and they changed the language by calling
it "FREE TRADE" when they represent just the opposite.
She waved one of the books in her hand and shouted: "these
are 900 pages of Corporate Protectionism, a 20 year monopoly
of any corporation that owns pharmaceuticals. We are going to
protect the pharmaceutical corporations from the rest of the
world and ignore labor laws, human rights laws and environmental
laws that people have fought for and died for in this country.
She proclaimed that NAFTA and the WTO have placed new constraints
on us that we never voted on. The WTO is composed of 140 nations
around the world. The new language forbids us "to distinguish
how things are made." She took off her shoe and said, "a
shoe will just be a shoe." How it was made has become irrelevant.
A child chained to a machine could make it and noone would be
the wiser. All our labor, environmental, humans rights laws are
on how things are made. The worst part is, "we can't even
have our government look at that." WELCOME TO CORPORATE
RULE AND GLOBALIZATION.
Under WTO and NAFTA, the government has to prove the product
is dangerous. Government can't keep products like genetically
engineered food off the market. Companies get a free ride in
this new protectionism.
We did not start taping her speech until after we realized how
important her information was and did not get her name but have
a video of most of the talk. She is a trade lawyer. She said
that NAFTA and WTO are backdoor deregulatory powergraphs. There
are no debates and nobody is accountable.
This is not speculation. If we do not comply, there will be economic
sanctions imposed on the United States from Geneva, Switzerland
without recourse. By voting on this it became Federal Law. Cephas
Ministry watched it happening on C-span. In spite of much opposition,
the majority in the House of Representatives, they sold us down
the river.
The rewards now come home to roost in illegal trade barriers.
The World Trade Organization wants harmonization with all countries,
which requires deregularization. No more differences. The totally
different is the same. You will be thinking that you are getting
government inspected beef? In deregulation you won't know where
the beef came from. It reverses our decisions to make our food
safe.
We have a record of progress with the International Monetary
Fund, which proves a growth rate per capita up 23% in Africa
before globalization. With globalization their growth has gone
down to -36% which varies and is world wide except in China.
They did not join WTO.
There are 280 billionaires who own over half the world's assets.
Special interests are now trying to control health and education
the same way.
Now you know what the movement is, you saw in action in Seattle,
Washington. Young people are coming together from all over the
world to get the World Trade Organization to Shrink or Sink.
They find it unacceptable to the majority. The speaker called
for people to educate and organize and join them. Here comes
the cincher.
"We are attracting hundreds of groups to help us build a
coalition. The M-A-G-I from Africa signed up and the 2nd Baptist
Church wants to get involved. This turns out to be another cause
like so many others that Satan is using to unify people to draw
them into the Interfaith Movement. We met the M-A-G-I in Africa
in that camp. So watch out... HIS KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD.

Barak Nearly Chokes to Death at Summit
July 28 - JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli newspaper said on
Friday that Prime Minister Ehud Barak almost choked to death
during the Camp David peace summit with Palestinian President
Yasser Arafat.
The daily Maariv said a bone got caught in his throat one evening
in his room at President Clinton's Maryland retreat. Barak was
sitting with Israeli delegates.
Gadi Greenstein, a former navy man who took part in the negotiations,
performed the Heimlich maneuver on
the Israeli leader who had been ``choking and croaking'' for
several seconds, the paper said.
It said Greenstein dashed over to the former Israeli commando,
grabbed him from behind, compressed his
diaphragm and lifted him up to save him while most of Israel's
tough-talking delegation to the summit looked on in shock.
Later, members of the delegation asked an American doctor to
take a look at Barak, who declined to be
examined. A senior member of the delegation told Maariv the incident
had been frightening. Barak's office had
no immediate comment. http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20000728/od/bone_dc_1.html

Saddam cancer fear spurs rivals
by Michael Theodoulou and Giles Whittell
July 27 2000 - PRESIDENT Saddam Hussein of Iraq, the world's
most resilient leader, is seriously ill and thought to have cancer,
according to reports from Baghdad.
Word of his deteriorating health will intensify a power struggle
between his two sons and undermine the myth of invincibility
that he has carefully fostered during two decades of autocratic
rule.
"We know Saddam is unwell and understand it may be cancer,
but we don't know how bad it is or how long he can go on for,"
an Iraqi businessman in Jordan said. Other well-connected Iraqi
travelers, who are not connected to opposition groups, have made
similar claims in recent days. [Saddam].. spoke in almost mystical
terms, comparing the Baath revolution to "the smile of a
baby, the prayer of a hermit and rain falling on parched land".
Dressed in a dark suit and tie for the televised speech, the
63-year-old Iraqi leader appeared haggard but there were no other
signs of illness. His hair, as usual, was dyed a virile jet black.
The unconfirmed reports of his deteriorating health came as President
Putin welcomed Tariq Aziz, Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister, to the
Kremlin yesterday to discuss the lifting UN sanctions.
Proceeds from oil smuggling in the past ten years have ensured
that the regime remains immune from the suffering caused by sanctions.
There is little organized opposition within the country and Saddam's
Western-backed exiled opponents remain weak. Assassination attempts,
coup plots and an uprising in the wake of the 1991 Gulf War failed
to unseat him.
Any succession in the Iraqi regime is unlikely to be as smooth
as that in neighbouring Syria after the death in June of President
Hafez al-Assad. The reins of power in Damascus were passed uncontested
to his son, Bashar, a British-trained eye doctor.
The rivalry between Saddam's sons is compounded by his reluctance
to make clear which one will succeed him. Uday, 36, is portrayed
by defectors as a torturer, serial rapist and killer. The less
mercurial Qusay, 34, controls the intelligence and security apparatus.

to reregister with the Russian state. Those who fail to meet
the deadline will be closed by court order (8/7 Chr. Today).
A 1990 law had provided equality and religious rights protection
for all religious groups, but a 1997 Religion Law required all
groups to reregister by Dec. 31, 1999. About 70 percent failed
to do this by the deadline, including many Russian Orthodox and
other "traditional groups." Putin, a Russian Orthodox,
gives mixed signals about religious freedom. [http://cnview.com/

- BUSH'S 'JESUS DAY' CALLED A FIRST AMENDMENT VIOLATION
Four months ago in Texas, Gov. George W. Bush signed a proclamation
declaring June 10 to be Jesus Day, and urging all Texans to "follow
Christ's example by performing good works in their communities
and
neighborhoods." The proclamation received little attention
at the time, except for some gratitude from a Christian organization
that had asked many governors to issue proclamations supporting
its annual
day of charity, prayer and parades in Jesus' name. Now what seemed
purely ceremonial has turned into a controversy for Governor
Bush.

Just a Few Thoughts on Philadelphia [Republican Convention] from

about what was occurring was how the mainline press was underplaying
the protests. For example, on Sunday - the first day of the rallies
- the corporate media reported that the protesters numbered no
more than 6,000 people. But that simply wasn't true. The numbers
far exceeded that figure - maybe as much as 25,000 to 35,000
people were demonstrating. Hard to say how many! - but the protesters

mall that extended along the JFK Parkway from the "Rocky
Stairs" (remember the movie, "Rocky") to downtown
Philadelphia - maybe a mile or two (at any rate, a long way).
To a large extent, this under-reporting could be attributed to
the fact that the members of the elite media simply didn't "get
it." They were trying to report on something they didn't
understand. For example, on Monday, in the midst of another demonstration
(this time, an "illegal" one) in front of Philadelphia's
ornate city hall, I had a conversation with Bruce Morton, a leading
member of the elite media. He looked so out of place there -
kind of like an elephant at a tea party. There he was, with his
fake tan, gucci shoes and three-piece suit trying to talk to
the demonstrators. Problem was, no one was talking to him. It
was as if no one cared that he was there. He didn't count. Talking
to him wasn't worth the trouble. The demonstrators had their
own press corps - and they were the ones who were getting the
interviews!! So there Morton stood, an empty "Suit"
that no one cared about; a man all "washed up" and
totally sidelined - at least insofar as the demonstrators were
concerned. I asked him what he thought, and he said, "This
was no big thing; it would all blow over." He
continued, "What are they demonstrating about anyway; this
is the best economy the country has ever had." I asked him,
"The best economy for whom? - the elites?" He looked
at me scornfully; but didn't say anything.
Nonetheless, the feeling I got from his rather contemptuous look
was, "Well, who else is there?"
But there was more to the under-reporting than just that. It
wasn't simply that the elite media couldn't "connect"
with the demonstrators - after all, the mainline press could
have used the pictures and interviews the "protest media"
was streaming out over the internet (it was all free). There
was an edge to the elite media's under-reporting - a conscious
effort by the corporate media to underplay what was happening
in the streets, as if by ignoring it, it would all go away. After
all, isn't it the elite media that "makes" or "breaks"
people and causes today? [That's certainly what they did with
Ross Perot, and what they are doing now with Ralph Nader and
Pat Buchanan.] Don't people - the demonstrators included - have
to [approve] to the mainline press if they are going to get anywhere?
That's what the corporate press evidently thinks.
- But not the kids - they didn't seem to care! [I say "kids"
because that's what they were - college age young people for
the most part. They came from all over the country - in old cars,
vans, and busses of one sort or
another. They were unwashed, shabbily dressed in fatigues and
other assorted old clothes, with sandals and "clodhoppers"
("doc martins" I think) for shoes; they had rings in
their ears, on their lips, in their noses; all had backpacks,
many had bikes.] They had their own media - a sort of "alternate
press" - and they were bypassing the mainline media; going
straight to the people with their own cameras, their own pictures,
their own reporting, and their own channels of distribution.
- Their target audiences were not the self-absorbed "soccer
moms" and the smug suburban yuppies and young professionals
the mainline press targets - the kind that listen to MSNBC, CNN,
and read the financial pages of the Wall Street Journal - but
their fellow students back home on the nation's college campuses.
The country's students! - these are the people the demonstrators
want to reach; these are the people the protesters want to "stir
up" and galvanize - and there is a lot of evidence that
they are doing just that. And the message that they want to get
out? - that the country no longer belongs to "The People,"
but to the corporate elites;
that democracy in our country has become a rigged farce; that
the rich rule, and the poor count for nothing; that "globalization"
is just a rich man's way of picking the pockets of the working
poor - not only in this country, but all over the world, and
most particularly in the so-called Third World. It's almost as
if they had been reading the articles on our website [Please

ago, Tipper Gore led a charge against raunchy rock lyrics, and
pushed for parental guidance labels. She recently tried to make

JOHN HAGELIN ASPIRING TO THE PRESIDENCY
An Interesting Reform Party Candidate From More Than One Perspective:
John Hagelin.
Excerpts taken from: New York Times: Taking a Scientist's Approach
to the Problems of Politics
by Michael Janofsky DENVER -- So how does a physicist who expanded
on Einstein's theory of relativity with a treatise called Supersymmetric
Flipped SU (5) find himself running for president? "It's
a quantum leap," John Hagelin said with a deadpan expression...
What might appear to make less sense is why someone with his
academic background and soaring I.Q., 165, would seek to put
his ideas in play as the presidential candidate of the Reform
Party..
Mr. Hagelin, 46, who received his master's and doctorate from
Harvard University and spent nearly 20 years as a research scientist..
[he represents ] Natural Law party, to apply principles a scientist
uses every day through common sense, to national political problems.
But Mr. Hagelin's ideas and positions are born less from years
in politics than from years of scientific research that focused
on brain development and, later, the application of scientific
principles to public policy. It led him from Harvard to the European
Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva to Stanford and finally,
in 1985, to Maharishi University of Management, a private institution
in Fairfield, Iowa, where he established a research institute
that explores issues like health care, education, crime prevention
and the environment.
Early on in Fairfield, a rural town of 10,000 where he now lives,
divorced from his wife of eight years, Margaret, Mr. Hagelin
spent considerable time studying how to change the nation's health
care system, which he calls "a disease care system"
because of its emphasis on problems rather than prevention. He
consulted dozens of House members and even helped write a single
paragraph in the comprehensive but ill-fated plan Hillary Rodham
Clinton proposed shortly after her husband became president.
"It was the only paragraph in a 10,000-page document that
had anything to do with health," he said, recalling its
focus on cost-effective preventive care.

Have a great day. Aren't we lucky this will be over soon. "Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might,
put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness: and
your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above
all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet
of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word
of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication
for all saints." (Ephesians 6:10 - 18)
