A NATION OF JESUS INTERNATIONAL MEN OF WAR CONFERENCE, held in Atlanta in April, served as a catalyst for taking the Gospel beyond the church. Men took to the streets to give hot meals and clothes to the homeless, assist with free medical screenings, and provide job-preparation training for homeless men and ex-drug offenders. The Nation of Jesus hopes to alter the future of black men "building an army of Spirit-filled men." What was not mentioned in this article in Charisma was the fact that churches now receive federal funding if they get involved in social problems to alleviate them.
