District Lodge 28 is part of the 750,000 member
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers
(which is frequently known as the Machinists Union). Through
our International Union, we are in the mainstream of the trade
union movement through our affiliation with the American Federation
of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and
with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
The District was chartered by the I.A.M. Grand Lodge on January
1, 1960. We have five (5) Regions within our District to better
service our membership. Headquarters is in Region I and is in
Zanesville, Ohio, Region II is in Columbus, Ohio, Region III
is in Lisbon Ohio, Region IV is in Uhrichsville, Ohio and Region
V is in Springfield, Ohio. Territory boundaries include 55 counties
in Ohio where we have 74 employers under contract and the greater
Wheeling, West Virginia area where we have 5 employers under
contract. We currently service 29 Local Lodges.
We are affiliated with the Ohio State Council of Machinists,
the Eastern States Conference of Machinists and the Ohio AFL-CIO.
Regular quarterly meetings of the District are held on the
first Monday of March, June and December and on the fourth Monday
in September. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held at
the union hall on 1526 Bluff Street in Zanesville, Ohio. Each
Local Lodge is entitled to 3 voting delegates who represent their
respective lodges. Officers and Business Representatives are
elected every 4 years. Several standing committees are in place
and they include: Finance, By-law, Organizing, Legislative, Credentials,

- Business Representatives, Delegates and members are very
active throughout the communities they live in. Worthwhile causes
