WELCOME TO JERUSALEM MEIN POPE
by Barry Chamish - www.barrychamish.com - May 10, 2009 - Twelve years ago, I wrote the following famous edict: Barry Chamish: Vatican plot against ISRAEL 1997 - In March 1994, the newspaper Chadashot revealed a most remarkable secret of the Middle East "peace" process. A friend of Shimon Peres, the French intellectual Marek Halter, claimed in an interview that in May 1993, he delivered a letter from Peres to the pope. Within, Peres promised to internationalize Jerusalem, granting the UN political control of the Old City of Jerusalem, and the Vatican hegemony of the holy sites within. The UN would give the PLO a capital within its new territory and East Jerusalem would become a kind of free trade zone of world diplomacy. Halter's claim was backed by the Italian newspaper La Stampa which added that Arafat was apprised of the agreement and it was included in the secret clauses of the Declaration Of Principles signed in Washington in September 1993. In March 1995, the Israeli radio station Arutz Sheva was leaked a cable from the Israeli Embassy in Rome to Peres's Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem confirming the handover of Jerusalem to the Vatican. This cable was printed on the front page of the radical leftwing Israeli newspaper, Haaretz two days later. A scandal erupted and numerous rabbis who had invited Peres for Passover services cancelled their invitations in protest of his treachery. Peres reacted by claiming that the cable was real but that someone had whited out the word, "not;" the cable really said that Israel would "not" hand Jerusalem over to the holy pontiff. Illustrating the sorry political state of Israel's rabbis, they accepted this cockamamie excuse and re-invited Peres to their tables. However, in the widely distributed minutes of a meeting with Clinton in 1997, Peres reiterated his diplomacy, ending with the words, "as I had previously promised the Holy See."

ISRAEL'S CONTROL OF THE MT. ZION IN DANGER
by Hillel Fendel - (IsraelNN.com) Ten-year-long negotiations between Israel and the Vatican appear to be drawing to a close, with concerns rising that Israel will cede control of the building housing King David’s Tomb in Jerusalem.
The Bilateral Permanent Working Commission – a team of negotiators representing Israel and the Vatican – released an upbeat press release at the end of last week, speaking of "meaningful progress," "great cordiality," and a mutual commitment to reaching a final agreement "as soon as possible.”
Tellingly, a plenary meeting has been announced for this Thursday, April 30, at the Foreign Ministry. The meeting will be chaired by the two states’ deputy foreign ministers, Danny Ayalon and Monsignor Pietro Parolin. It is widely believed that the agreement will be signed then.
Church Demands Parts of Mt. Zion
The two states have been negotiating a treaty since March 1999 on matters having to do with Church-owned or Church-claimed property in Israel. Among the most significant issue under negotiations is the Vatican’s demand for the Last Supper room, located on the second floor of the ancient Mt. Zion building that also houses the tombs of Kings David, Solomon, and Hezekiah. In addition, the Vatican is claiming areas around Lake Kinneret, as well as in Caesaria and Jerusalem. REPORT OBAMA'S MASTER PLAN FOR THE MIDDLE EAST
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu - (IsraelNN.com) - U.S. President Barack Obama told Jordan's King Abdullah two weeks ago to meet with leading Muslim Arab countries and persuade them to accept changes in the Saudi 2002 Initiative, according to the London-based Arabic language Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper. The report reflects the president’s swift action on the Middle East since he was elected last November. President Obama’s major proposed alteration in the Saudi peace plan is for Arab countries to grant citizenship to approximately five million Arabs who are descendants of former Israelis while allowing them the right to move to a new Palestinian Authority country.
The Saudi plan calls for them to be allowed to immigrate to Israel, a suggestion that virtually every Israeli leader categorically rejects. President Obama also reportedly told the king that he wants the United Nations flag raised over holy sites in eastern Jerusalem, where the PA would have total sovereignty under the Saudi plan.
Al Quds did not specify any other “concessions” to Israel but said that Arab countries should consider “other changes,” none of which were specified. The president’s master plan calls for Arab countries to set a timetable for raising the Israeli flag in their capitals, a sign of recognition of the Jewish State. Simultaneously, the PA flag would be raised in Jerusalem neighborhoods, a move that would virtually make the Fatah-led government the de facto government in a significant portion of the Jewish capital. The Obama administration includes several prominent Jews who have eagerly backed the president’s actions, most of them having experience as advisors to former President Bill Clinton during the Oslo Accord talks that led to the Second Intifada, also known as the Oslo War, in 2000. CHIEF RABBINATE FORBIDS SITE TRANSFER TO VATICAN
May/06/09 - (IsraelNN.com) The Council of Holy Sites of the Chief Rabbinate issued a statement Wednesday saying that it was forbidden for Israel to transfer authority of sites in Israel to the Vatican. The Vatican has requested that six sites of a religious nature be transferred to its authority in advance of the Pope’s visit to Israel next week.
The Council’s statement read: “According to Jewish Law, it is forbidden for any person to give a part of the Land of Israel to the Vatican. Therefore we call on the Prime Minister, Ministers, and Members of Knesset to immediately cease discussions of this nature.” http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/164687

OBAMA AND I HATCHED NEW PLAN
By Stan Goodenough - May 11, 2009 - The Obama administration is preparing to dangle in front of Israel a Middle East peace plan that offers the Jewish state the recognition of the entire Muslim world. This is according to a report in Monday's Times of London citing Jordan's King Abd'Allah who "hatched" the plan with US President Barack Obama during a visit to Washington last month. Obama is expected to offer the plan to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the latter travels to Washington to meet the president next week. Details of the plan are to be "thrashed out" starting at that meeting. Abd'Allah warned that Israel had better make every effort to secure peace with the Palestinian Arabs within the year or face another war with the Arabs within 18 months.
"We are offering a third of the world to meet them with open arms," he said according to Ha'aretz.
"The future is not the Jordan River or the Golan Heights or the Sinai, the future is Morocco in the Atlantic and Indonesia in the Pacific. That is the prize.
"If we delay our peace negotiations, then there is going to be another conflict between Arabs or Muslims and Israel in the next 12-18 months." When offering "recognition" of Israel, the Arab world means much less than the Israelis expect. Israel's new government last month insisted that the "Palestinians" recognize Israel specifically as a Jewish state. The demand was dismissed out of hand by PLO leader Mahmoud Abbas, and pooh-poohed as being of little consequence by officials in Washington. http://www.jnewswire.com/topics

NETANYAHU / MUBARAK ON 'TWO-STATES'
By Stan Goodenough - May 11, 2009 - On his first official trip as Israel's new prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak for talks at Sharm e-Sheikh Monday. The Israeli disappointed those who were hoping to hear him tell Mubarak that Israel would support the "two-state-solution." Netanyahu flew to the Sinai immediately after welcoming Pope Benedict XVI at Ben Gurion, where the pontiff called on Israel's leadership to enable the Palestinian Arabs to establish a state "alongside Israel." This, too, was Mubarak's message to the prime minister. However, the Israeli leader would not commit to this path. According to Ynetnews, Mubarak said after his face-to-face meeting with Netanyahu that the Israeli PM "expressed his government's commitment to promoting peace, while I expressed Egypt's hope that his government live up to its commitment regarding the two-state solution and the advancement of the Arab peace initiative." Today's pressure was only the latest that has been relentlessly brought to bear on Netanyahu since his government was sworn in on March 31.
It comes hours after Jordan's king Abd'allah warned that unless Israel made peace with the "Palestinians" this year there would be war between the Jewish state and the Arab war within 18 months. Numerous other world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Czech Prime Minister Mirel Topolanek, US Vice President Joe Biden, have let it be known that they expect Israel to embrace "two-states-for-two-nations." The pressure is expected to come to a head when Netanyahu meets with US President Barack Obama at the White House a week from today. Top administration officials have warned of Obama's intention to deal "forcefully" with Israel to get it to comply with the wishes of the world. In the word's of arch-leftist Israeli commentator Akiva Eldar writing in Ha'aretz Monday, Obama "in his first days at the White House ... made clear that whether a two-state solution is acceptable to a Likud government or not, that is the only formula up for negotiation." http://www.jnewswire.com/topics

CHIEF RABBI TO POPE: TELL THE WORLD JEWS BELONG IN ISRAEL
By Yair Ettinger, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service - 14/05/2009 - Israel's leading rabbis on Tuesday told Pope Benedict XVI that it was his duty to spread the message that the Jewish people belong in the Land of Israel. "You represent a large nation of believers that knows what the Bible is, and it is your duty to pass on the message that the Jewish people deserve a renaissance, and a little respect - to live in this land," Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar told the pope. The pope met with Amar and Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger in Jerusalem on Tuesday, on the second day of his pilgrimage to Israel. Benedict told the chief rabbis during the meeting that he is committed to reconciliation between Christian and Jews. Continued: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1084958.html

UNLEASH HEAVEN!
18 May 2009 - “You have no idea of the kind of pressure that is brought to bear on an Israeli prime minister when he enters the White House.” (The late David Bar-Ilan, Chief of Information and Policy Planning for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a personal conversation with this writer, November 1998.) Netanyahu flew to Washington DC at the weekend, arriving Sunday morning, a day before his scheduled series of meetings with American President Barack Obama and other administration officials. Despite calming words and promises from administration officials that the Americans won’t be too demanding “this time,” millions of Israelis and their friends are tense with anticipation about the outcome of these talks.
The US believes it has Israel over a barrel. Netanyahu must either endorse the “two-state-solution” or be seen to be resisting the will of the whole world. What the prime minister is being asked to do is without precedent: Never has a national leader been ordered to surrender for all time his people’s claim to their costliest and most strategic national assets. On top of this, Netanyahu knows too well the bankruptcy of “land-for-peace” – how every effort to proceed with this American-led program has painfully backfired, costing thousands more Jewish lives and increasingly endangering the security of their state. The “two-state solution” requires the ethnic cleansing of 300,000 Jews from their biblical heartland, the cradle of their nationhood. It calls for the destruction of all their homes and communities. It will add insurmountably to Israel’s already desperate water crisis. And it will leave Israel too small, too truncated, to properly defend – and this in a neighborhood that positively churns with hatred for the Jews.
In the words of Hebron resident Gary Cooperberg: For Israel, the two-state solution is another version of The Final Solution.
Were the eyes and ears of our inner man open to what is happening today in the spiritual realm over Washington DC, we’d be aghast at the fury of the fight. The atmosphere above the American capital is surely boiling, as heaven and hell vie for dominance over the institutions of government, especially the White House, the State Department and the Department of Defense. Prime targets for the enemy will be within the presidential residence itself: In the room set apart for a three-hour meeting between Obama and Netanyahu, where the American will be doing whatever he can to seduce or coerce the Israeli into embracing two-states; and in the media briefing room, where the world’s press will be out in force to dig and poke into the Israeli leader after the summit, hungry to expose triumphantly either his failure to withstand Obama’s demands or, in their biased estimation, his intransigence and opposition to peace.
American arrogance in dealing with Israel can be breathtaking. Continued: http://www.stangoodenough.com/?p=261

PA PEACE PLANl: IRAN TO SHARE RULE OVER TEMPLE MOUNT
ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS - Israel may find Iran as one of the administrators of the Temple Mount, according to a new Palestinian Authority plan reported Thursday by the Hebrew-language newspaper Haaretz. PA sources said giving up claims to the Temple Mount and handing over control to the 57-member Saudi-based Islamic Conference Organization is conditional on Israel’s agreeing to a final status agreement. Iran, which is classified as Persian and not an Arab country, is part of the Islamic group. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has opposed agreeing to a new PA state without knowing ahead of time what it would entail. The PA recently has escalated its propaganda campaign that disassociates the holy site from any connection with Judaism and claims it is solely a Muslim site.
A group of Arabs demonstrated at Shechem Gate in the Old City Thursday morning, shouting anti-Israeli slogans as Jews began celebrating Jerusalem Reunification Day.
Sovereignty over the Temple Mount, based in Jerusalem, has been one of the foundations for a new Arab country that the PA wants following the proposed expulsion of more than half a million Jews from Judea and Samaria, as well as from Jerusalem neighborhoods that were established after the 1967 Six-Day War. The PA's official website as far back as 2005 rejected the Jewish connection with the Western Wall (Kotel), the remains of the wall that surrounded the Holy Temple area. Muslim legend claims that Mohammed tied his horse to the wall before ascending to heaven, even though the city of Jerusalem is not even mentioned in the Koran.
Writer Daniel Pipes several years offered one million dollars to anyone who can find the name "Jerusalem" explicitly written in the Koran. The Israeli government initially ignored the PA propaganda campaign, but Rabbi Chaim Richman, director of the International Department of the of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, warned in 2005 that the PA claims have “far reaching implications” for Israel. Rabbi Richman said that the PA’s denial of the Jewish Temple's existence “is part of a campaign to totally eradicate, erase, and destroy all Jewish connection to the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the land of Israel.” The PA incitement against Israel, which violates the American Roadmap plan, also attributes the 1929 Arab pogrom to Jewish efforts to claim ownership of the Western Wall. OBAMA AND NETANYAHU SQUARE OFF
By Stan Goodenough - May 29, 2009 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United States President Barack Obama were seen to be heading nearer confrontation this week over the right of Jews to live and raise their families in the Land of Israel. Tension is growing between the two governments after Israel refused to bow to emphatically-expressed American expectations that any and all forms of "settlement activity" be halted immediately.
Obama made this demand when meeting with Netanyahu at the White House on May 18. "There is a clear understanding that we have to make progress on settlements; that settlements have to be stopped in order for us to move forward," Obama said, seated next to the Israeli during a press conference after their meeting.
Netanyahu made no such commitment, and upon returning to Israel let Washington know that "natural growth" - which means that normal human daily life - will continue inside the established communities. A few days after the Obama-Netanyahu meeting, Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Ya'alon stated publicly that this Israeli government will not comply with America's demands, adding that Israel will not let America "threaten us."
Obama's secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, was not willing to let this pass. Speaking to reporters Wednesday she stated categorically that the US sees stopping settlements as key to a peace deal that would see a Palestinian state created on half of the historical Jewish homeland. Obama "wants to see a stop to settlements - not some settlements, not outposts, not 'natural growth' exceptions," Clinton said. "We think it is in the best interests [of the land-for-peace process] that settlement expansion cease. That is our position." Clinton bluntly warned that the United States "intend[s] to press that point." Instead of being cowed, the Netanyahu government insisted that housing construction in the internationally-condemned Jewish communities will continue. A GATHERING OF NATIONS
by haRold Smith - Jerusalem, Israel - The Second Wave -
A tsunami is not a single wave. A tsunami is a wave train that may contain 5 to 20 waves altogether. The first waves are typically small, and subsequent waves become larger. This means if you don't get washed away by the first wave, you still need to stay away from the shore to escape the others. Once the waves end, there is then flooding, carnage, destruction and cleanup to deal with that remains a state of total devastation sometimes for years afterward.
The waters started receding in 2007 (see Economic Tsunami Warning click on highlighted verse to see scripture - a prediction of what was to come a year and a half before the 'meltdown' occurred - published on May 23, 2007) and as the year 2008 came to a close, this global economic tsunami we are now experiencing crashed upon us. The tide is now fully pulled out to sea again and, while pundits around the world are hopeful the corner has been turned, the bottom has been reached and all is soon to be well again, it is because they are only looking at the financial aspect of what is upon us now. The last half of 2009 and 2010 will likely see the subsequent waves of this massive global tsunami, building on the horizon for almost a year now, come crashing down on mankind with even more severe and destructive results than the first. Where and how that wave will appear will be a surprise to most.
Many are unaware that, in this year of 2009 alone, more than 100 of the largest banks in the world have collapsed. The FDIC said on Wednesday that the number of US banks on its "problem list" grew 21 percent in just the first quarter to 305 institutions -- the highest number since 1994. Some of those institutions will likely be nursed back to health, but others will join the ranks of the 36 U.S. banks so few have heard about that have failed so far this year. The number of seized banks has been consistently creeping upward, with 25 failed banks in all of 2008, and only 3 in 2007. (see FDIC Bank List). The amount of money required to seize and then guarantee their failed assets to attract buyers also grows exponentially. The fundamental reason for the global collapse has been because of credit. The United States is now the largest debtor nation in the world. China, the biggest holder of U.S. government debt, is warning the Federal Reserve about printing money. U.S. government debt has this year handed investors the worst loss since at least 1977 on forecasts for ballooning deficits. China's Premier Wen Jiabao has expressed concern about the “safety” of China’s dollar assets (see June 1 China Visit) while President Obama is boldly telling Americans: "We are out of money" (see CSPAN, May 23). Because of it's massive debt, the United States is in danger of losing it's AAA credit rating (see Reuters, May 22). All it would take to put a weakened America under is for China to lose confidence and decide to 'dump' her holdings in the dollar overnight (Proverbs 22:7).

ISRAEL PRAISES OBAMA SPEECH, BUT SAYS ITS SECURITY PARAMOUNT
By Barak Ravid, Haaretz Correspondent, Haaretz Service and Agencies - The Israeli government praised U.S. President Barack Obama's speech to Muslims on Thursday by saying it shared his hopes for Middle East peace, but also said Israel's security interests remained paramount. "We share President Obama's hope that the American effort heralds the opening of a new era that will bring an end to the conflict and to general Arab recognition of Israel as the nation of the Jewish people that lives in security and peace in the Middle East," an official statement said after Obama's address in Cairo. The statement made no mention of settlements, which Obama said should not be expanded, nor Palestinian statehood. At odds with Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that construction would continue in existing settlements in the West Bank and he has not publicly endorsed a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Netanyahu's bureau also released a statement Thursday affirming Israel's desire to pursue peace, but in accordance with its national interests. "Israel is committed to peace and will do all it can to expand the circle of peace while considering its national interests, first and foremost being security," the statement said.
Later Thursday, Defense Minster Ehud Barak echoed the comments in welcoming Obama's address and reiterated Israel's desire to pursue peace talks. "In the speech there is reinforcement and encouragement for moderate elements and supporters of peace; there is also outspoken criticism of terrorism and [its] origins of violence and extremism that are threatening the stability of our region and the entire world," said Barak in a statement. He added that Israel lauded Obama's commitment to its existence and security, and his calls for the country's integration in Middle East.
"Israel is committed to advancing negotiations with the Palestinians, based on agreements that have previously been committed to," he said. "We hope that the Arab world will heed the calls of President Obama to put an end to terror and violence and forge peaceful relations with Israel."
Earlier in the day, Daniel Hershkowitz, chairman of the rightist Habayit Hayehudi party, said that Obama ignored the fact that the Palestinians have yet to renounce terror. "The Israeli government is not an American surplus," he said during a tour of Hebron. "Our relations are based on friendship, not domination, and we've got to draw a line when it comes to natural growth in the settlements." Kadima MK Ze'ev Boim said that "Obama's speech is yet another proof that Netanyahu miscalculated the foreign policy of the new American administration." "The president's take on the Palestinian question is similar to Kadima's, and it's a shame that narrow political considerations prevented the Israeli government from espousing the two-state solution which is the only one that can ensure a Jewish and democratic existence in Israel." Kadima MK Yohanan Plesner said that "Israel could benefit from the America's improved image in the Arab world and leverage it to forge a regional coalition, together with the moderate Arab countries, to counter Iran, but instead the government is engaged in marginal debates on outposts."
Minority Affairs Minister Avishay Braverman (Labor) said that Obama was right that the world's common enemy is extremism and that finding a common strategy is the way to defeat it. "We should adopt a similar strategy in Jewish-Arab and religious-secular relations, as well as vis-à-vis the Palestinians," Braverman said. "We are committed to the two-state solution." Meretz leader Haim Oron, for his part, welcomed Obama's speech. He said it was filled with inspiration, optimism and vision. "The speech is the feat of enlightenment," he said. An Israeli settler spokeswoman dismissed Obama's speech in Cairo as naive and out of touch with reality. Aliza Herbst, a resident of the Ofra settlement, said modern history has shown that the Muslim world is at war with the West. She added that Obama's vision of peace sounded nice but was not realistic. Peres: Obama visit is a rare opportunity for peace
President Shimon Peres praised Obama's Mideast speech as a historic opportunity in a guest column in The Times.
Obama's journey to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Peres wrote, "reflects both the need for an historic change in the Middle East and a unique chance of achieving it."
Peres said that the international options that are being discussed - the Saudi peace initiative as well as the so-called "57-state solution" proposed by King Abdullah of Jordan - could create a favorable momentum that would lead to the resolution of the Israeli-Arab conflict. He called on Arab countries to engage in bilateral negotiations with Israel while espousing a regional process of normalization. "Support from the entire Arab world will provide legitimacy for the Palestinian Authority as it approaches the difficult task of making and then implementing historic compromises. At the same time it may reassure Israel that the painful concessions it will make will be rewarded by a broader, more enduring comprehensive peace across the region," Peres wrote. Peres said Obama's fervent commitment to changing American foreign policy in the Middle East is a rare opportunity. "The regional leaders have to treat these options seriously - not as another photo-opportunity but in a substantive discussion aimed at opening the door towards comprehensive peace and regional economic development," he concluded. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1090412.html

ISRAEL SHARES OBAMA'S HOPE FOR PEACE
JPost.com - June 4, 2009 The Prime Minister's Office responded to US President Barack Obama's address to the Muslim world on Thursday by expressing hope that it would help lead to reconciliation between the Muslim world and Israel. President Obama delivers speech to Arab world, backs a Palestinian state "The government of Israel expresses hope that President Obama's important speech will lead to a new period of reconciliation between the Arab and Muslim world, and Israel. We share Obama's hope that the American effort will bring about an end to the conflict and to pan-Arab recognition of Israel as the Jewish state. "Israel is obligated to peace and will do as much as possible to help expand the circle of peace, while taking into consideration our national interests, the foremost of which is security," the statement concluded. President Shimon Peres praised Obama, saying that his "speech was a speech filled with a vision, [it was] a brave speech which promises hard work for all of the sides involved in advancing the peace process in the Middle East.

ANALYSIS OBAMA'S ADMIRABLE, VIRAL NEW BEGINNING.. AND UNFORTUNATE FIRST MISSTEP
By DAVID HOROVITZ - June 4, 2009 - Astutely invoking his own personal Muslim background, and wrapping his challenge in words of appreciation for Islam as a potential force for tolerance, President Barack Obama nonetheless spoke harsh truths to the Muslim world in Cairo on Thursday. And he was applauded.
ISRAELI ANALYST JONATHAN SPYER SAYS ARAB WORLD ENCOURAGED BY OBAMA'S SPEECH Offering, and demanding, a new beginning in relations between Islam and the West, he appealed to a respect for human life, which he said was common to all faiths but which he stressed Muslim radicals have come to disregard. "We will... relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women and children," he said. And he was applauded. This was, of course, only a first step. "No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust," he noted. But one way to measure the achievement even this single speech constituted is to ask whether his predecessor could have conceived it, delivered it and been cheered for it. The answer, three times, is no. From the particular, partisan perspective of the Netanyahu government, the content was as problematic as would have been expected - no more so, but certainly no less. There was the insistent reiteration of the two-state vision, the repeated outlawing of even natural growth in the settlements - albeit in a clause that was notable for its plainly deliberate semantic complexity - and the outlining of a future multi-faith Jerusalem. Here, Obama was setting out traditional American policy - positions that accord with president Bill Clinton's eleventh-hour effort to achieve a permanent agreement in 2000, positions that were anathema then, and are anathema now, to the Likud and the Right.
From the broader, non-partisan Israeli perspective, it was heartening to hear the president tell the Muslim world of America's "unbreakable bond" with our country, and to hear him highlight the "cultural and historical ties" at the heart of that relationship, rather than mere cold, potentially transient, American interests. It was good to hear him make clear that the Arab League peace initiative was "an important beginning but not the end of [Arab states'] responsibilities," and to urge the Arab world "to recognize Israel's legitimacy" and stop using the Arab-Israeli conflict as a pretext "to distract the people of Arab nations from other problems." Less encouraging was the strikingly brief portion of his speech devoted to Iran. "When it comes to nuclear weapons, we have reached a decisive point," he said, promisingly. But in choosing to continue by asserting Iran's right to "access peaceful nuclear power," he offered no reassurance to Arab regimes panicked by Teheran's drive to the bomb, and absolutely no reassurance to Israel. Watching from here, his even-handed attribution of blame for the failure of peace efforts to date was jarring indeed. For more than 60 years," the president declared, the Palestinian people "have endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead."
To which most Israelis, having now witnessed even Ehud Olmert's ultra-generous two-state terms being derisively brushed aside by Mahmoud Abbas, would retort: "And whose fault is that?" But Obama used his platform, too, to insist that "Palestinians must abandon violence. Resistance through violence and killing is wrong and does not succeed." And, seconds later, he repeated and elaborated: "It is a sign of neither courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. That is not how moral authority is claimed; that is how it is surrendered." He said this without including a parallel criticism of Israel's military response to such killing. He said this to a Muslim audience in Cairo. Where he, terribly, missed a vital opportunity from Israel's point of view, however, was in legitimizing our Jewish nation-state solely on the basis of our people's persecution through the centuries, which "culminated in an unprecedented Holocaust." Yes, of course, denying the Holocaust is 'baseless, ignorant and hateful." And yes, "threatening Israel with destruction" does indeed serve "to evoke in the minds of Israelis this most painful of memories while preventing the peace that the people of this region deserve."
But our rights in this land are not predicated solely, or even primarily, on the tragedies that have befallen us during our history in exile. Those rights relate, rather, to the fact that we were in exile - from this land, this historic Jewish homeland. This is the only place on earth where the Jews have ever been sovereign, the place we never willingly left, the place to which we always prayed to return.
The culminating tragedy of the Holocaust occurred only because we had been denied that rightful homeland. Six million Jewish lives were lost because that legitimacy was not internationally internalized in time. This president, in that place, should have emphasized the point stressed the physical root of our legitimacy to a Muslim world, and especially a Palestinian populace, that overwhelmingly refuses to acknowledge it. Instead, unfortunately, the president spoke of the "displacement" of Palestinians "brought by Israel's founding" (while making no mention of the Arab world's rejection of the Arab entity that would have been simultaneously created alongside us). In so doing, he reinforced the very portrayal of Israel as a modern colonial upstart that Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad so cynically and strategically asserts. In so painstakingly calibrated an address, delivered in so vital and urgent a cause, this was a stark failure, and one Obama should himself recognize the need to rectify as he translates his talk into action. For Muslim recognition of our fundamental right to be here, precisely here, is central to the president's admirable quest to make a better world, a peaceful world, a new beginning.

NATIONS UNITED AGAINST ISRAEL
OBAMA TO MUSLIM WORLD I'LL SEE JEWISH SETTLEMENT STOPS
By Stan Goodenough - June 05, 2009 - US President Barack Obama Thursday effectively and publicly stripped Israel of its special place in American foreign relations, marking "a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world." Israel is to be made to pay to ensure Obama's effective "reaching out" to the planet's 1.5 billion adherents to Islam, and especially to those who are Arab. To engage the Muslim world, the president made it clear that the United States will at least partially disengage from the Jewish world, specifically from that part that holds to the faith of its fathers.
In what was widely applauded as a momentous and historic address, the president told the cheering audience at the Cairo University - and untold millions of approving onlookers around the world - that he will "personally" see to it that the heart of the Jewish homeland is rendered Jew-free and handed to the Palestinian Arabs for the creation of a state of their own.
"The only resolution" to the Arab-Israeli conflict, he said, "is for the aspirations of both sides to be met through two states, where Israelis and Palestinians each live in peace and security."
This was "in Israel's interest, Palestine's interest, America's interest, and the world's interest. That is why I intend to personally pursue this outcome."
The American maintained that "to see this conflict only from one side or the other is to be blind to the truth."
Despite the fact that the Jews have both a biblical injunction to settle the land (Numbers 33:53) and international legal recognition of their right to do so (the Balfour Declaration and League of Nations' San Remo Conference); and despite the fact that the Geneva Conventions do NOT apply to "the occupied territories" of Judea and Samaria, Obama insisted that "the United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements."
Building these homes for Jews "violates previous agreements and undermines efforts to achieve peace," he declared.
"It is time for these settlements to stop!" Continued: http://www.jnewswire.com/article/2660

AMERICA IN THE MIDDLE EAST
OBAMA THE 'CHRISTIAN' PEACE BE UPON MOHAMMED
By Stan Goodenough - June 05, 2009 - US President Barack Obama deceitfully sought to knit together Christianity, Judaism and Islam in his speech in Cairo Thursday, grossly misrepresenting the latter religion with a smile on his face and sincerity in his voice. The American leader, who has Islamic roots but professes to be Christian, was on a quest for "a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world."
To establish "common ground" and find what he was looking for, Obama asserted "the truth:" That America and Islam...share common principles - principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."
This statement was delivered, straight-faced, into the teeth of history, and in the capital of one of many Islamic states universally known to treat its people with an iron hand of injustice, and to demonstrate zero tolerance towards those of other faiths who seek to share their beliefs.
Referring repeatedly to "the Holy Koran" - a book whose author charges both Judaism and Christianity with having perverted "God's" (Allah's) "revelation" to man - Obama wowed his audience. "As the Holy Koran tells us: 'Be conscious of [Allah] and speak always the truth,'" he said, before proceeding to speak anything but the truth, (though Muslims would agree that it was true.) "Throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality." As documented exhaustively by scholars like Bat Y'Or, Islam forces Jews and Christians to pay a second-class citizen tax and live a second-class citizen existence or become Muslims. Other non-Muslims have been forced to convert or die. And any Muslim who converts to Christianity must recant or be executed. In some Muslim states, like Israel's peace partner Jordan, just selling a piece of land to a Jew is a capital offense.
Obama's ignorance of Islam (which means submission to Allah) was further revealed by his statement "that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn't." Islam is nothing if it is not what its founder and most venerated follower, Mohammed himself, practiced. This includes terrorism, sexual perversion and massive oppression of free peoples.
Partnership between Islam and America must really be based on this? The president, who has adamantly denied being any type of Muslim despite his family background and his middle name - Hussein - said he considers it "part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." OBAMA TELLS JEWS WHERE THEY CAN LIVE
by Joseph Farah - WorldNetDaily - May 29, 2009 - Barack Obama is taking what he and his administration refer to as "a more balanced approach to Middle East policy." Let me explain what that literally means in real terms.
It means the U.S. government is now using its clout with Israel to insist Jews, not Israelis, mind you, but Jews, be disallowed from living in East Jerusalem and the historically Jewish lands of Judea and Samaria, often referred to as the West Bank. I want you to try to imagine the outrage, the horror, the outcry, the clamoring, the gnashing of teeth that would ensue if Arabs or Muslims were told they could no longer live in certain parts of Israel let alone their own country.
Of course, that would never happen with "a more balanced approach to the Middle East."
It's the 1930s all over again. This time, it's the enlightened liberal voices of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who are telling Jews where they can live, how they can live and how far they must bend if they want to live at all.
I know you haven't heard it put like this before. I don't really understand why. There is simply no other accurate way to explain the machinations behind the latest demands on Israel from the West and the rest of the world.
Israel is being reduced to "Auschwitz borders." Jews have already been told they can no longer live in the Gaza Strip. Now they are being told they can no longer choose to live in any of the areas being set aside by international elites for a future Palestinian state. Again, I ask, "Why would internationalists seek to create, by definition, a racist, anti-Jewish state that doesn't even tolerate the mere presence of Jews?"
Can anyone answer that question for me? Obama and Clinton and, thus, by definition, you and me, the taxpayers of the United States have determined they will yield to the racist, bigoted, anti-Semitic demands of the Palestinian Authority that no Jews be allowed to live in their new state. I like to think that in any other part of the world, this kind of effort at ethnically cleansing a region would be roundly condemned by all civilized people. Yet, because most people simply don't understand the clear, official plan by the Arab leaders to force out all Jews from the new Palestinian state, the policies of capitulation retain a degree of sympathy, even political support, from much of the world. Think about what I am saying: It is the official policy of the Palestinian Authority that all Jews must get off the land! Why is the United States supporting the creation of a new, racist, anti-Semitic hate state? Why is the civilized world viewing this as a prescription for peace in the region? Why is this considered an acceptable idea?
Is there any other place in the world where that kind of official policy of racism and ethnic cleansing is tolerated even condoned? Why are the rules different in the Middle East? Why are the rules different for Arabs? Why are the rules different for Muslims? Why are U.S. tax dollars supporting the racist, anti-Semitic entity known as the Palestinian Authority? That's what we do when we forbid "settlement construction," repairs, natural growth, additions to existing communities.
This is "balance"? Are there any impositions upon the Arabs and Muslims suggesting they can no longer move to Israel? No. Are there any impositions on Arabs and Muslims suggesting they cannot buy homes in Israel? No. Are there any impositions on Arabs and Muslim suggesting they cannot repair their existing homes in Israel? No. Are there any impositions on Arabs or Muslims suggesting the cannot build settlements anywhere they like? No.
Now, keep in mind, there are already quite a few Arab and Muslim states in the Middle East. Many of them already forbid Jews to live in them. Some prohibit Christians as well. But now, the only Jewish state in the world, and one that has a claim on the land dating back to the days of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is being told Jews must keep off land currently under their own control, but destined for transfer to people who hate them, despise them, want to see them dead and will not even accept living peacefully with them as neighbors.
All the while, Israel continues to hold out its na hand of friendship to the Arabs and the Muslims welcoming them in their own tiny nation surrounded by hateful neighbors. Arabs and Muslims are offered full citizenship rights and even serve in elected office. They publish newspapers and broadcast on radio and television freely.
But, conversely, Jews are one step away from eviction from homes they have sometimes occupied for generations. Gaza is about to happen all over again. I hope my Jewish friends remember this well. Many of them voted for Barack Obama. Many of them voted for Hillary Clinton. These are not your friends. These are the same kinds of people who turned away ships of Jewish refugees from Germany in the 1940s. These are the same kinds of people who appeased Adolf Hitler at Munich. These are the same kinds of people who made the reformation of the modern state of Israel so difficult. I say, "No more ethnic cleansing. No more official anti-Semitism accepted. No more Jew-bashing. No more telling Jews where they can live, how they can and if they can live." http://www.WorldNetDaily.com
