QUARTET IS DESIGNING A NEW PEACE AGREEMENT FOR ISRAEL
:: Regarding Israel the new initiative by the QUARTET is designing a new peace agreement in a conference in London. Israelis are not allowing Arafat to attend in person. They will allow him to video conference. This peace agreement will be finalized after the election in Israel. The QUARTET is composed of the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and Russia. Former Prime Minister of Israel Netanyahu is involved in this peace agreement.
:: Perez is close to 80 years old and is always there but is not running against Sharon. Sharon is a militant tough leader and is expected to win. Netanyahu has the second spot. He is Foreign Minister now. In Israel are many parties and they are powerful enough to overthrow the government. The Knesset (Parliament) has 120 members and whoever gets the most votes wins the election. Israel is the size of New Jersey with 6 million people, 80% Jewish and 20% Arabian. Palestinian count is two to three million people. Israelis are getting ready for war. [Janine Zachria, Jerusalem Post 1.16.03]

ONLY FROM LIKUD WILL PEACE BE ESTABLISHED STATES SHARON
:: "I have a plan for peace with the President of the U.S..Can't make concessions with terror. We are demanding establishment of new organizations to clean up the terror.. We ask them to stop education of terror.. New leadership.. dismantle their weapons.. we will be able to make peace.. we all want peace and quiet.. only someone who can make painful concessions can make peace.. you don't make peace like Barak tried to do.. Israel needs leadership for victory.. I will establish again a national unity government.. Israel is more important than Arafat.. We have to stand together united.. The Likud under my leadership is the only one for Israel. ..In 1992 many were angry at the Likud and voted wrong... 1999 many voted for Barak which was a mistake.. Only from Likud will peace be established. Whoever wants me has to vote Likud." Israeli Prime Minster Arial Sharon, Tel Aviv, Israel 1.16.03
:: The opposition to the Likud Party with the most votes is the Labor Party. Their platform includes stopping the settlements and negotiating Jerusalem.
:: Amran Mitzna stated: "Peace agreement with all of our neighbors is necessary.. We have no other alternative.. We will not join a government under Sharon.. United under my leadership.. we will put an order to this country.. We have to get the heart closer to the Arabs.. We will open the peace process.. getting out of this despair will create momentum to the economy.. " by Labor Party, Amram Mitzna, Mayor of Haifa, Israel.
Sharon wants at least $14 billion from the U.S. but only if they stop building settlements will they receive was the latest.
:: The United States stopped pushing for an election when they found that Arafat would reelected. The P.A. laughs at elections. It's a huge process.
:: Their excuse is that elections take travel because it is a major publicity undertaking. Palestinians have no way of traveling under the present circumstances nor do they have the means to run an election campaign. The result is that Arafat will remain in office.
