The Mount is holy to Jews as the site of Jerusalem’s biblical first and second temples, and is also sacred to Muslims, who call it al-Haram al-Sharif, as the location of the al-Aqsa Mosque and the golden-domed Islamic shrine the Dome of the Rock. Israel has controlled the site, which the Wakf administers, since taking it from the Jordanians in the 1967 war, and the status of it and the surrounding area’s future sovereignty is a key sticking point in efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict..." Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger thanked him for stopping missionary activity against Jews, asked him to identify Jewish children placed with Christian families, and proposed a "United Nations" for religions. At the Wall, Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov began by welcoming the Pope on behalf of the government and State of Israel to Jerusalem, “the spiritual center of the world.” Western Wall Rabbi Doesn’t Mention Pope Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites, spoke dramatically – but pointedly did not mention the papal guest at all. Instead, Rabbi Rabinovitch read aloud from the Bible and offered a prayer for peace. He chiefly read from Kings I, 8 – King Solomon’s prayer upon the construction of the first Holy Temple. The prayer emphasizes the centrality of the holy site, of which the Western Wall is a retaining wall and one of the last remnants, and that G-d will “hearken to the supplication of Your servant and of Your people, when they shall pray towards this place.” He also read aloud from the prophets Micah and Isaiah, to the effect that “My house will be a house of prayer for all nations… On behalf of Zion, I will not be silent until its salvation comes forth like a burning torch.” The rabbi then concluded with a prayer for peace. The Pope then read aloud, in Latin, a chapter of Psalms about Jerusalem, then placed a note with the prayer inside the Wall. Later released to the media, the prayer stated, "I bring before you the joys, the hopes and the aspirations, the trials, the suffering and the pain of all your people throughout the world," and asked for peace in "this Holy Land, the Middle East, [and upon] the entire human family." It was a covenant between two enemies of Israel who for a long time would rather have Israel disappear from the Promised Land as soon as possible. According to this agreement, Jerusalem should be an international city based on international resolutions and an international guarantee. (The UN decided on more than one occasion that Jerusalem should be an international city.) They also decided that any step or activity taken by Israel to change this position of Jerusalem is against the law. The agreement also recognises a "Palestinian" state in the land of Israel and agrees on cooperation between the Vatican and the PLO and the Vatican committed itself to assist the so-called "Palestinians". Authorities in the Vatican explained: "the agreement paves the way for establishment of full diplomatic relations with a Palestinian state when it is founded". The PLO representative in the Vatican stated: "This is an historical covenant". It is no accident that this covenant was signed one month before the Pope's visit to Israel. The agreement is part of the long-term policy of the Vatican against Israel ever since the State of Israel was founded. This is a continuation of the historical hostility of the Vatican against the Jewish people. The Jewish people in the exile, mainly in Europe, and later also in South America have been persecuted by the Popes and the Roman Catholic Church and many millions were killed in terrible ways during the Inquisition, the pogroms and, in our time, in the Holocaust when 6 million Jews were killed including 1.5 million children and babies. During the Holocaust the Pope did not even try to prevent this killing or even state that he was against it. He was silent. On the other hand, the leader of the PLO terrorist organisation, Yasser Arafat, continues, through this covenant, the long, bloody struggle of terror against Israel and Jews and his hands are covered in Jewish blood. His goal was, and still is, to destroy the State of Israel and bring another holocaust on the Jews in the land of Israel. He has now merely changed his strategy when he found that he could not achieve his goal by the means of terror. He has now decided to try to achieve his goal through diplomatic means and the so-called "Peace" negotiations. What he did not succeed in achieving on the battlefield because the G-d of Israel did not allow him to, he is now trying to achieve around the negotiating table. The demonstration was held on the lookout position on the steps leading down from the Jewish Quarter to the Western Wall plaza. We could not accept this terrible situation and abomination of such a meeting, especially after the Pope signed a covenant with the terrorist, Arafat, in the Vatican before coming for his visit to Israel and after he declared in a speech during his visit in the Hebron area that the so-called "Palestinians" have aright to a homeland in the land of Israel. The message of the demonstration was firstly directed at the Israeli Government to overcome their weakness and not to allow the meeting to take place which implied the Popes recognition of "Palestinian" control of the Temple Mount and ignored Israeli sovereignty and G-d's covenant giving Israel the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and all the land of Israel to be His house and to dwell together with Israel. Instead of this, the Israeli Government preferred to meet and welcome the Pope at the Western Wall which for hundreds of years was called the Wailing Wall because it represents the exile, destruction and the great desire of the Jewish People to return to the Temple Mount and to rebuild the temple. Now, after G-d gave the Temple Mount back to Israel in a godly heroic war in 1967, the Western Wall has finished its task and Israel should rebuild the temple on the location of the First and Second Temple on the Temple Mount. We know that the G-d of Israel and the Universe has not accepted a meeting with the terrorists on the Temple Mount nor the meeting at the Western Wall. In regards to the Old city, Barak envisions a “special regime” with “agreed-upon arrangements” to administer the Old City, the Mount of Olives and the City of David. Paid for by an affiliate of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, these 81 representatives are supposed to represent our interests but are choosing to spend their recess in Israel -- and briefly in the occupied West Bank -- at a time when Americans are suffering and scared from high unemployment, a tanking stock market and a downgrade of our national bond rating. I also recently traveled to the Holy Land, although I paid my own way. I was part of the "Welcome to Palestine" delegation. I was lucky. Most of my colleagues on the delegation were not allowed to join me. On July 8 over 120 people from Europe, North America and Australia were detained at Israel's Ben Gurion airport. They were then imprisoned by the State of Israel, most for over a week. Their only crime was that when Israeli custom officials asked what they were doing in Israel, they responded that they were planning to visit Palestinian friends in the Aida Refugee camp in Bethlehem. Three hundred other delegates who planned to visit Bethlehem and other places in the occupied West Bank were forced off their flights in Europe due to Israeli pressure. During my time in the Holy Land, I had an opportunity to meet and talk with many Palestinians and Israelis. I learned about a system in Israel that discriminates against Palestinians on the basis of their ethnicity. In the West Bank, things are far worse. I observed an explicit system of racial segregation and ethnic cleansing, where Palestinians are separated from their own lands and water by walls, barbed-wire fences and machine-gun-wielding soldiers and Jewish settlers. In order to weaken them, he created a counter-pilgrimage site in Jerusalem in 691, to compete with Mecca and to which to redirect pilgrims who might have decided, once in Mecca, to take up the rebels’ cause. He therefore built a mosque, the “dome of the rock,” on the site where Solomon’s Temple had been build in Jerusalem, and declared Jerusalem “al-Quds” (the sacred place). So Jerusalem’s sanctity to Muslims originates with a political and propagandistic ploy.... The UN Partition Plan, UNGAR #181, Nov. 29, 1947, declared Jerusalem to be an international city under a special mandate. Israel accepted the plan, but the Arab world rejected it and declared a genocidal war against Israel. Against all odds, the Jews won, but Jerusalem was divided by the 1949 UN Armistice lines. West Jerusalem, in Israel, flourished, and became again, for the first time in almost 2,000 years, the capital of the Jewish state. East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, under an uncaring and illegal Jordanian sovereignty, languished, impoverished and neglected, much as it had during the centuries of Umayyad, Abbasid, Fatimid and Ottoman rule....After the 6-day war (June 5-10, 1967), Jerusalem was re-united, under legal Israeli sovereignty, and East Jerusalem was annexed to the State of Israel. Eighty-one members of the US House of Representatives—about 20 percent of the total membership—are enjoying a late summer week-long, all-expenses paid trip to Israel. This hasbara (propaganda) trip happens every other summer (in non-election years), but this year’s excursion to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea comes at a time when voters back home are not thinking about Israel. They are worried about their under-water mortgages and disappearing 401Ks. Instead of returning immediately to their home districts to answer questions about the US economy, 81 House members are flying to Tel Aviv to demonstrate their loyalty and devotion to a foreign power. They are hoping, of course, as they bolster their standing with AIPAC, that financially-stressed voters will not be told that the 81 are enjoying an all expenses paid visit to Israel. So far, the main stream media (MSM) has protected them. The only way to find out if your congress person is living in Israeli luxury for a week is to call his or her office and ask. Despite the fact that Tehran has said many times that the program is purely for power generation and they have no intention of creating a nuclear bomb, Israel seems to be obsessed with this notion. In the article, the anonymous source (who remains unnamed as per Israeli army regulations) says that crippling the Iranian nuclear program would not be as easy as the one-strike solutions against Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007. Jeremy just returned to his family from a two week speaking tour throughout the US, sharing the truth about what is happening in Israel, and to be called away from his wife and three beautiful children is quite difficult on his family as it is on the country as a whole. The truth is that miraculously, when we are called up to the army in these times, a deep sense of joy and purpose is put upon us and so many of our fellow soldiers. The Oslo framework dictated that the final status of Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Jerusalem would be determined through direct negotiations between the PLO and Israel. While brazen, the PA's UN gambit is not the first time that Israel has been confronted with unequivocal proof that the Palestinians have been operating in bad faith. From the outset, PLO leaders from Yassir Arafat down have made statements and taken actions that have demonstrated that from the PLO's perspective, the entire "two-state paradigm," of peacemaking upon which the Oslo process is predicated was nothing more than a ploy. For instance, after coming under heavy pressure from then opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu, in early 1996, then Prime Minister Shimon Peres was forced to ask Arafat to convene the PLO's governing council in order to cancel the PLO Charter. The Charter repeated calls for Israel's destruction. Recognizing that Peres's government was on the line, then US president Bill Clinton flew to Gaza to "oversee" the Palestinian National Council's conference and its cancellation of the charter. Despite Clinton' s presence, the charter was never abrogated or even amended. Yet the empty pageantry was enough to convince the leftist Israeli media that Israel had a credible partner for peace in Arafat and so the show went on. Arafat ended all pretence of good faith in the summer of 2000 when he rejected then Prime Minister Ehud Barak's offer of Palestinian statehood and instigated the Palestinian terror war. Ever since Arafat chose terror war over peace, his followers' willingness to admit they reject Israel's right to exist has grown. For instance, on July 13, Fatah's foreign relations boss Nabil Shaath gave an interview to a Lebanese television station in which he stated point blank that the PLO will never accept Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. As he put it, only the Palestinians have a right to a nation state.
